The word 'diet' wasn't even a part of my vocab two weeks post-partum, I was too focused on recovering from a c section, suffering broken sleep, trying to keep a baby alive and expressing breast milk every 2/3 hours :ROFLMAO: the gym and weight loss will always be there, but those newborn weeks will fly by.

“Only 8kg heavier” is such a humble brag too. Come now. It’s perfectly normal and natural to gain a lot more than that in pregnancy! I have in both of mine. With my first I went from 160lbs to nearly 220lbs the day after I gave birth (72kg to 99kg, though tbf he was like the Very Hungry Caterpillar and wanted food ALL THE TIME) and with my second I’ve gone from 179lbs to about 210 at 33 weeks (81 - 95kgs). You cannot really control the weight gain a lot of the time.

Same, i went from 200lbs to 255 first pregnancy, this one I'm about 23 weeks and I dread weighing myself cause I've been eating like no tomorrow 🙃 🙈 but I know the gym and weight loss will be there after - this is my 2nd and last baby and I'm not being pregnant ever again so I'm enjoying it where I can!
I guess this is what happens when you build your platform off how you look though, there's that pressure to always be at 'your best'

I still find her decision not to breastfeed just because she doesn’t really want to honestly baffling.

I wasn't fussed honestly but gave it a try anyways and did 4 months. It was great for my baby (liquid gold) and lovely for bonding.

I didn’t know she had a thread but omg her content lately! It kinda feels like ragebait, like surely she knows the breastfeeding vs formula debate is controversial? Her engagement on that post was way up on her usual stuff so excuse me for being cynical 😂 tbh I don’t care how she feeds her baby but I do think that thinking she can just get back to work 2 weeks pp is naive. She might have a unicorn baby who sleeps happily for hours in his cot and doesn’t cry much but lots of babies are not like that… I remember thinking it was so much easier than people had led me to believe for the first few weeks and then my baby woke up to the world and refused to be put down and cried for hours a day. No chance I could have worked a remote job then!

I wonder if shes choosing to not breastfeed as she’s possibly going to go on the jabs as she keeps banging on about how she’s 8kg overweight. Just a thought.

Meh, it's so individual. I find it a little odd that a first time mum doesn't even want to try but I likely won't be doing much BFing with my second as I hated the feeling of it all with my first. The feeling of my milk coming in was so uncomfortable, let down made me want to claw my boobs off and when he latched it was like having an angry snapping turtle on my nipple the whole time plus it hugely added to my sleep deprivation PPA/PPD so I'm in no rush to do it again if I can avoid it (will do the first couple of weeks and will give harvested colostrum). We're so lucky to live in a country where running water is clean and accessible to (almost) everyone, and formula is very easy to get and safe to give as well.

If she's choosing not to just because she wants to go on weight loss jabs, then that's a bit of an own goal, as most people report it's easier to lose weight post partum when breast feeding (not the case in my experience, but hey ho)

Same here Cass, breast feeding was so painful
for me. The burn when the new milk came in, and boobs like rocks alot of the time despite pumping regularly. Why i did it for 4 months i will never know…. Think it was just me feeling obliged to.

I didn’t do it as my second because of the pain. I did give her harvested colostrum at the start though, liquid gold apparently. I also had an 18 month old toddler at the time so was easier to bottle-feed my newborn.

Thank you for chiming in - and those points are so valid and understandable!
But you’re right - as a first time mum wouldn’t you just be a little curious?
I’m such a curious person, I’d just have to know what it was like 😅

seriously – how does she even have the energy to be wanting to work out at four weeks postpartum…?! I took me a good eight months to get some energy together to even think about it after my second…. And even then I felt so fatigued and probably would’ve been better off with a nap. The sleep deprivation inthe first few months feels unbelievable.

I used to follow her back in her competing days so I know the required dedication and sacrifices to lifestyle that takes, but their lives just seem so bloody boring. She's a content creator, why not use having the baby for a lifestyle change - still healthy, but pilates, yoga, swimming - gentle exercise which is easy on your body and is more forgiving post-partum. It just seems so bleak that her life revolves around hip thrusts, protein powder and the air fryer.

I saw a few days ago that her Mum popped round to tidy, do housework and meal prep. Meanwhile G is working out in the shed. My Mum would tell me to get stuffed - priorities! She’s be happy to help me if i was stretched for time or exhausted or even look after my baby but if its cos i dont have time / exhausted but still working out it would be a hard no from my Mum.

I really don’t get this bounce back she’s doing. Your baby is 8 weeks old, you don’t need to be tracking your food or working out so much after a hard birth and complications after. She should be focusing on her pelvic floor and core and showing other women this things instead of look at me deadlifting at 8 weeks.

i couldnt agree more! its an obsession at this point.

My kids are 3 and 2 and i still dont have the headspace (or even want to) to count calories etc, just focussing on my two little girls.

I feel like she’s determined for her life to go on like normal (how it was previously - work, gym etc) even though she has a baby now – which isnt the case fortunately. It’s the biggest change of your life.

I’ve just worked out what is also annoying - she has a proper home gym in her garage, neither of them work a ‘normal’ job, they’re both at home all day so can work out at any time. For anyone juggling a 9-5 or shifts, a commute, having to drive to a gym if they can fit it in, a partner who only gets 2 weeks paternity, what this is showing is a luxury and unrealistic for most.
