Yep and he turned around and showed his bare a and then took off a little knitted rooster sock in Italian colours… all whilst h and p giggled like little kids, it’s on YouTube 🤢

I have just watched that clip and my first thought was that HW doesn't look very happy there. I think she just went along with things on that programme to keep the job.

Thanks for clearing this up, I watched it many years ago and also thought he was on Grumpy Old Men. I remember being appalled by what he said. So glad to find others on here that think the same of him as I do. I have a friend who's Italian, he says Gino's accent is totally fake too.

For those who missed further discussion of this several pages back, it was Series 2, Episode 2 of Grouchy Young Men which was originally aired in 2011. Tattlers reported that Gino made comments on the show about being willing to do time for a schoolgirl he'd seen.

I hope someone manages to get a clip of his (alleged) comments, I imagine the producers would be quite keen for it never to see the light of day again.

It’s not gross though. The apron thing was just a bit of stupid tomfoolery that was planned, rehearsed and expected. Nobody was made uncomfortable about that. This is why many people are defending him. It’s not the behaviour onscreen that is the issue, it’s the disgusting behaviour behind the scenes that is the issue and many people are just not getting that.

There’s no defending what he said but the fact it made it to air via a whole team of production assistants, editors etc who sign off these programmes just shows how embedded in the industry it is that men can say these things and it just be a great laugh. It emboldens those with slightly dubious intentions that it will be met with laughter and not called out for what it really it. It always shows how hard it is to go against the grain and report this stuff and be taken seriously and not just be told ‘you’re being uptight, it’s just a laugh’

Indeed. Sadly there were some women among the production team for that show.

How was this deemed ok for daytime tv?!
They could have left the apron on if they (ITV) wanted to do this.

Agreed though that it’s behaviour off screen that is triggering complaints and that isn’t a persona for tv.

It is insane to see/remember what was deemed acceptable 20/30 years ago 🤢

So in more recent times we've had Russell Brand, Gino, Tim Westwood, Philip Schofield, Huw Edwards, and Gregg Wallace up to no good.

How many more are out there?

The BBC (and ITV) have really learned no lessons whatsoever. The BBC, nothing since Savile was exposed in 2012.

I now consider any 'apologies' by the BBC on any such incidents to be highly false and insincere.
