I wondered for a while if the Captain was either suicide or a "broken heart" after his friend left. Captain himself never appears to have been deployed on the battlefield which suggests he may have had a weak heart or poor health (as well as being part of a social class which made it easier to be given a training role on medical grounds).

Plus he can't have left the grounds to die in battle, otherwise he wouldn't be there now.

Ghosts is hilarious! The best thing about it is how great it is to rewatch - so much happening in the background, and clever little bits of dialogue.

I met Laurence Rickard through my godmother when she worked in broadcasting. He was really nice. I met Ben Willbond in passing, but only very briefly, and he was nice too. They all seem very genuine.

It is just perfect isn't it . When we started watching series 4, both me and OH said at the same time there was something comforting about seeing them all again. Comfort TV at its best.

Total comfort tv. Nice to watch something where people aren’t horrible to each other all the time, a more innocent show

I binge watched it yesterday and was very late to sleep. I'll still watch the episodes as broadcast as there is always something else to notice that I might not have noticed at the first watch.

Glad there is still the Christmas special to look forward to.

It was a functional ending, if that makes sense. It just rounded off the series.

The most I have ever cried was the Christmas Special with Pat. OMG, that had me bawling.

For some reason I missed that episode first time it was on. I watched it the other day and you can feel how much Pat misses his family.

It’s a shame Katy Wix couldn’t stay until the end. It was only 7 more episodes and she’d have been really funny with the baby.

I agree. I wish she had stayed until the end. You could see she wasn’t in the scenes with the other ghosts as frequently and she stopped being a plague ghost.

I adore this show, can happily watch it over and over, great comfort TV. Clever, hilarious and often so moving. And of course….The Captain

Jokes aside, I think there are many ways they could end it, will be interesting to see which route they go down. I’m thinking a baby for Alison and Mike and the baby can see the ghosts and it’s an open(ish) ending with most of the ghosts still there and maybe one/two leaving during the series.

Isnt it insinuated that Kitty's sister murdered her? She was awful to her in the flashbacks and wanted the inheritance to herself. She tried to poison her with the oysters.

Yeah. And isn't it said something about how she was playing hide and seek and no one ever came. I'm wondering if she was locked away and starved to death or something...

How lovely that Kylie kept her word... I was massively disappointed it didn't happen last year so really happy to finally get to see it! Kylie's appearance was a million times better than the one she made in the last episode of neighbours, and lovely to see Jason too!

IMO Kylie always comes across as genuine, with no airs and graces - it’s great to hear a story like this about her.

New series has started. They've handled Covid restrictions really well. Apart from not going into the basement you can't really tell the difference.

Binged the whole series on iPlayer yesterday though. Now I'm sad I watched it too quickly.

I missed that S4 was available and happened upon it the other day and have been treating myself to an episode in the bath - it makes me so, so happy

I've got a massive crush on Matthew Baynton (Thomas, definitely would) and a deep appreciation for Jim Howick (Pat) and the rest of the cast. Huge soft spot for Mary. Absolutely love seeing the plague people too. Loving the subtle character development of most of the characters. Perfect telly.

I love everything this team do together and separately. Wouldn't mind them haunting me.

I'm laid up on the sofa feeling crap with covid so I've binged series 5...I was going to be good and watch it in real time but needed to cheer myself up

They've changed Kitty's character a bit this series, she's not quite as daft as before but i'm enjoying all the character developments and interaction between them. The downside seems to be lack of a central plot.

I did enjoy Thomas becoming a pin-up and having a fan club that was really funny.

Was just looking up the trailer and came across this! A US version! Whyyyyy? Just air the BBC one!

This is like when America tried to remake The Inbetweeners and basically just copy and pasted the script. It did not go well.

This is cringe inducingly terrible. And will absolutely flop.
