This is all too common unfortunately. Women being silenced and bullied
I know. To be honest I’m happy she did it. And so far none of her followers have message me.
She also has a YouTube channel I’m bit worried she will use this for a video to be honest. Knowing her it might be something she does

I finally decided to post on my insta and a person i know who is trans, messaged me calling me transphobic.

she has around 25k followers on her account, and she posted a screenshot of our conversation on her stories. She didn’t take my account name away from it.

it was a perfect moment for her to give me more information on why it’s wrong when I say sex is binery and gender is non-binary. Instead she chose to be a bully.
Good on you for taking the stand to voice an “unpopular opinion” I put that in quotations because I truly believe the average U.K. person would be on your wavelength and not the social media SJW side. They seem to think their online echo chamber is reflective of society. Sadly, this is not true. And perhaps instead of bullying anyone who dissents from their rhetoric they could actually deal with, ya know, *real issues* in real life.

Hold your head high; you’ll get loads of comments probably “calling you out” Try not let it get to you. If it gets personal or strays into doxxing then report the content/account.

I couldn't agree more with this. I think people are more concerned with woke points and appearing inclusive. It was said before that this thread is an echo chamber of GC feminists. Or maybe as an anonymous forum it's more reflective of what people are thinking and are too afraid to say elsewhere?

By people who were born and socialised male. What a surprise.
This makes me so angry

How very dare she take something from your private insta and post it to her page without concealing your identity! I'd report that to Instagram

hi! finally read through the thread, a lot of thought provoking posts and I must say, I’m glad this thread exists. I consider myself a supportive trans ally, but after one occasion when I voiced some reasonable concerns (without hateful tone or disparaging trans folk), I was told that I was raising red flags, so I’ve been hesistant to say even remotely otherwise since.

First of all, I'm not sure what him being a gay man (I won't use the word cis) has got to do with anything. He was there and is setting the record straight on what happened. There is no point trying to rewrite history. The Nazi quote is from the Nazi propaganda minister, he's not comparing trans people to Nazis, he's making the point that if you spread enough lies people will eventually believe it. It's an insult to the people who were actually involved that TRAs (I don't mean you, I mean those that started this falsehood) have attributed this to someone else. It just smacks of jumping on the BLM movement too by claiming it was a black trans woman

Regarding the bathroom, would you be happy with this person ("Danielle Muscato") entering the bathroom at the same time? Thanks to the modern cult ideology we are supposed to accept this person as a woman, no questions asked. I can tell you that if this person entered a changing room, bathroom, etc, my guard would be going up and it would be staying there.

Suggesting that Jk Rowling is putting their lives in danger is absurd. To be frank, seeing the disgusting abuse and threats she has been on the receiving end of, I think it is her who put her own life in danger

This is an excellent article on Emma Watson and her empty slogan

sorry, I brought up ‘gay man’ because a lot of gay men tend to be misogynistic as all hell and genuinely transphobic (not gender critical but transphobic). I’m bi so I’m in the LGBT circle (on social media especially) and I’ve heard and seen gay men use vulgar language about women (we are revolting, our vaginas are vomit worthy, we are hysterical witches, we are bland AF, etc.) 😐

also, yes, I am aware that trans women are just as bad, I’ve noticed a lot of them use misogynistic language, and it is not on at all. It really makes me think about their claim to be trans women if they speak to women like that, y’know, the gender/sex that they claim/desire to be? I dislike JKR in general but I am shocked at the hate she received for her essay (I really don’t like the essay but I’ll admit I read it in bad faith), and so many transgender people telling her to “suck my fool”. Even more shocked when The Sun interviewed her abusive ex husband!! That’s shitrags for ya.

I must say, I support genuine trans women but after seeing the other side’s perspective, I realise I’ve missed A LOT. I really thought transphobes actually were transphobes, when most of them/you are gender critical (another thing I didn’t know much about). Obviously I want transgender people to live their lives authenically to the best of their ability (not every trans person is financially lucky like Caitlyn Jenner!) and I want them to be safe, but not at the expense of women. We must carry on supporting women, we are capable of caring about and championing for more than one issue. I think it’s also important to work on educating boys and young men on how to behave and conduct themselves in society, how to treat women, etc., because we shouldn’t have to take steps to ensure we aren’t assaulted or killed, clenching our keys in our hands when we walk home alone at night. Transgender people shouldn’t suffer the same either, we need to go back to the source: men. yes, I know not all men, blah blah, but you know what I mean (hopefully).

As for that Danielle Muscato character... no, you’re right, I wouldn’t be comfortable. Seems like a very sad individual. I have heard some bits about Jessica Yaniv? That person is extremely shady, and to be honest, I think men (or people, I really don’t want to offend) use the whole... progressiveness (re. LGBT) and claim to be trans women for... I don’t know, I don’t want to be rude but, perverted reasons?? They seem the type who enjoy doing things for shock value and to upset vulnerable people (women and children specially). I think it’s very possible that they pretend to be trans women because in this day and age, it’s relatively easy to do so, and women are being silenced out of fear, not wanting to be abused and/or seen as transphobic, bad ally, etc. It’s quite upsetting actually, and I do wish more TRAs would hear GCs out in good faith.

Apologies for the lengthy post 🤣 but I appreciate being able to have a healthy debate with youse.

I think men are far more likely to be transphobic than women. I don’t think Radcliffe or that other one would go out with a transwoman in reality

I have no issues with calling you what you want but I don't believe a male can change into a female and vise vers. You are what you're born.

Nobody can make me change my mind.

Yeah if you click on the story, on the send message part there's three dots, click on that and there's an option to report. Worth a shot. Not sure if there's another more detailed way of contacting them
I did it and some of my friends to.
her sister (also trans) ended up posting the same message on her insta story to. So we all did the same with that post.

There’s some very fragile femininity in this thread isn’t there? Or is it just hatred of trans people hiding behind feminism? Hmm I think there’s an acronym for that..

One thing that I agree is extremely unfair is trans women being able to take part in sport with biological women. Don’t know the best way around that short of banning it which won’t happen now. Also that Fallon Fox is a complete head.

I don’t know if it’s a fair statement, is it to do with fragile femininity. Maybe, but why is it fragile?

because of past situations.

the situation with me and my “friend” if she took the time to explain me her side, I would have listened. She decided to block and slander me. Maybe it’s silly to say but it only puts more fuel to what I was thinking.
This cancel and block culture if someone has a different opinion is highly dangerous.
You either get people bullied in submission or people to scared to actually investigate or look into the other sides opinion.

I agree with the first sentence but that comment about Daniel Radcliffe and Eddie Redmayne is unfair and kind of irrelavant. I’m not attacking you but I would like to offer my perspective. DR is, and always has been, extremely vocal about gay and LGBT rights and is a huge advocate. As for ER, we know he portrayed Lili Elbe, a transwoman, in a movie called The Danish Girl. Yes, I know that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s an ally, and I did see a previous post about Scarlett Johansson being forced to drop out of a trans role but I’ll address that in a moment.

When I said it’s irrelevant whether DR and ER would date transwomen, it’s because ER has a wife, and DR has been with his partner for years. It’s also because I personally think you can be an ally while having a personal preference for people whose gender identity correspond with their biological sex (aka, man with pen, woman with tina). I would say it’s similar to women who are lesbians, it’s because, most of them, they like women and they like vaginas. Not because they hate men and/or penises. Some of them do though, and that is absolutely fine! Lesbians, and bi women, date women who are butch and masculine, but they’re still women with vaginas. Just like gay men, and bi men, who date feminine men, who are still men with penises.

I know that in some cases, a lesbian isn’t bothered if a woman they date or hook up with is biologically male, and vice versa for men with other men who are biologically female. I suppose, for them, it’s about the person and/or gender identity rather than what is between their legs, which is perfectly valid, imo. So I think it should be valid for people who are allies but prefer certain genitals to match certain people. I hope that makes sense. I know not many allies/TRAs agree with my sentiments, unfortunately. That’s just my perspective though, and I think it’s easy (and privileged) for me to say because I’m technically pansexual, and I don’t have the perspective of a lesbian woman or a gay man. But I am a woman, and like most women, I have had many negative and traumatic experiences with men, so I don’t begrudge other women who want single sex spaces to remain safe. I actually agree with them in some aspects.

Now, the drama with Scarlett Johansson. Redmayne’s movie was released in 2015, which I would say was slightly just before TRA era, when it really took off, and not necessarily down to sexism. I know that Jared Leto played a transwoman in Dallas Buyers Club but the movie came out in 2013. I don’t know much about the TV show called Transparent where Jeffrey Tambor played a transwoman but it is important to note that he was rightfully fired from the show after sexual harrassment allegations were made against him. As for female actors portraying transmen, Felicity Huffman was a transwoman in a 2005 movie called Transamerica, and most notably, Natalie Portman portrayed Brandon Teena in Boys Don’t Cry. The movie was released in 1999 and Natalie Portman won an Oscar for her role.

I don’t have an answer for Scarlett Johansson but I think it’s largely to do with how problematic and controversial she is. For example, she portrayed an Asian character (whitewashing), she’s pro-Israel, and she’s one of Woody Allen’s biggest supporters. So I think it makes sense that she was advised or forced not to take on that transwoman role, and rightfully so. I know sexism and bigotry are rampant in Hollywood but I think this is one of the rare instances where Hollywood has done something right.

Yeah fair enough about Radcliffe and the other guy. I was just noticing yesterday that it seemed to be women reacting strongly one way or the other. And men (Not of the TRA variety) like my partner who are not in the slightest bit interested.

@barmj wasn’t it Hilary Swank who won the Oscar for Boys Don’t Cry? Such a good film.

@gigi_93 what does fragile femininity mean? I’ve not really seen any posts about that. If you mean that some women are insecure about the status of the category of women, please say that, it is a completely different thing.

If you’d like, I could signpost you to some stats about what it means to be a woman in the world today and how that is related to TRAs.

Women’s position is fragile. We are not equal to men in almost every metric. Why are you contemptuous of women discussing that?

Fragile femininity because a lot of people on here seem convinced that trans women are going to take away their womanhood. Crying about being called a “cis” woman. It’s just silly.

But trans people get offended if we say women have periods...

I’ll decide what I’m called, thanks. Not cis, fragile or silly. Just woman

Are you crying about people crying about being called “cis”? That’s just silly.

It’s worse than silly to characterise a reasoned discussion as silly crying. It’s dismissive and rude and it belittles people who are adding to an important conversation.

Femininity and womanhood are two different concepts but you’re using them interchangeably. Are you talking about fragile womanhood or fragile femininity? One is trivial compared to the other.

Womanhood refers to so much and all of it informs a woman’s life. Examples: gender pay gap, period poverty, FGM, sexual assault and grape. That some people are protective of that category and all it represents could rightly be described as a fragility but you seemed to use fragility as a pejorative term and sneer at it. Where is that coming from?

Being a woman does involve inherent fragility, that’s a given. That’s why all of this is up for discussion.
