Also, it is so obvious that Saccone Jolys push their son, Eduardo, to wear girls clothes and toys so that they appear more "woke."
I really feel for him as it is shared in their videos and on social media. His school life will be hell.

I don't know enough about that family to comment on them or this child specifically, but people definitely do this. Grinds my gears.

I think what's more 'woke' is letting your kid just be themselves. Like, let your little boy wear a dress if he wants to and asks to, but boys can still play with 'boys' toys. I don't push gender stereotypes on my kids but honestly most of them 'fit' the typical stereotype of their gender because that's just how they are

When my son came out to the rest of our extended family there was a lot of 'oh well that makes sense', 'thats why he was such a tomboy', 'that explains all the action men'.... like, nah. There were signs, but they weren't the toys he was playing with as a kid. They were more, much private signs that my partner and I were only privy to.

She’s the epitome of “woke.” I’d say stick to acting, but she’s not even good at that.

Why do they all feel the need to speak out against her? Her views are her own and they have theirs. None is worth more than the other.

I have this problem with people who voted for Brexit. I would post something on my feed, they would then pipe up and say something and when I tried to engage with them and explained my opinion was told "you lost get over it". Er mate you commented on MY feed, if you didn't want to engage in an adult discussion don't say anything!

Gah! This is so bleeping frustrating that such a life changing and divisive period of our politics has been boiled down to “lOLz! ReMOANer you lost! GET OVER IIIIT!!”

Yes. Yes, absolutely the appropriate response to 16 MILLION people’s life and freedoms changing. You won, we lost. Like it’s a game of playground football.

Also @jewelkitty MAD respect for standing proud and tall with an opposing view. I read JK’s piece and I honestly found it very beautifully written and honest.

I wouldn't say I'm 'comfortable with my sex' either, being a woman - but I do think being trans and knowing for sure, is a different feeling based on what my son has described to me. Obviously I don't know first hand what it feels like but when I've tried to understand and he's given me insight it's sounded a lot more deeper than just being uncomfortable. The deep hatred he has for his own body is... traumatising to even hear about, to be honest.

That said, I 100% agree there are cases that are rushed into too quickly. My son is on no medications yet and is having therapy & on the waiting list for gender clinic (it's been I think 13ish months now?). It won't be a quick process for him to get on any medications - I'll be surprised if he's started anything even 12-18 months from now. There are some clinics he wanted to go to (he'd done his research) but it seemed those, when I looked into them myself, were sometimes signing off on hormones on the first visit! Which was... shocking.

I don't really have any doubts that he is trans but I'm not down with that. He's got to get his mind ready before his body.

Can I just say you sound like an incredibly loving and sensible mother and your son is so lucky to have someone so supportive in his life.

And thank you for engaging in discussion in a civil way without just throwing around terf insults. Although we may not share the same views I have found your posts on this thread very insightful.

FART for Feminism-Appropriating Reactionary Transphobes is a pun acronym created and used by queer people and inclusive feminists to laugh at transphobic cisgender women claiming being radical feminists.

These people, also called TERF (for Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminists) hate transgender people and deny the fact their genders are valid.
They claim that transgender women are men, transgender men are women and non-binary people aren't valid.
With the growing influence of some activist groups, they become dangerous and put queer folks in danger.
2 examples of usage of FART (Acronym) :
"- We, radical feminists, are sick of these men in dresses appropriating our safe spaces.
- You TERFs smell like FART, Feminism-Appropriating Reactionary Transphobes. "

Agree. I’ve asked for moderation clarification on this and would suggest that anyone who also finds the term offensive to report content and request it’s not used here. It’s just so reductive

I’m part of the bookish bit of Instagram. I can’t believe the level of vitriol I’ve seen on there over the last few days, as well as the mindless parroting of TWAW.

I posted on my story in solidarity with Jo and deleted the app from my phone. I don’t know if I’ll go back.

Was so relieved to find this thread last night, read through from the beginning and didn’t get to bed til 2ish. When I woke up this morning I burst into tears.

You just know that those kicking off haven’t even bothered to read her statement. Anyone who has read it couldn’t possibly say she is a hateful transphobe. I shouldn’t be but I’m shocked at the vitriol she is getting. People are acting like she called for all trans people to be put in the stocks or something.

Controversial but if she has said something racist, I doubt she would have got this much backlash. She would have got some given the current social climate, but not on this scale. The reaction of some people is totally ridiculous literally throwing the baby out with the bath water based on assumptions of what they think she wrote not what she actually wrote.

The people trying to make this a race issue by calling her a white privileged woman are irritating too. This isn’t a race issue this is a WOMENS issue and that includes all women from all cultures and backgrounds. To have such a powerful and well known woman fighting our corner is absolutely huge. She doesn’t need our support but we certainly appreciate hers.

Also duck body shop. They’re never getting my money again.
