I don’t mind the whole “people who have periods/menstruate” thing, tbh. I like that it includes trans men, some of them still have periods.
I have a friend who is a trans man and he completely passes as a bloke. I can’t imagine him being forced to use women’s toilets but thankfully it isn’t an issue for him because he’s usually fine using men’s and no one is aware that he is biologically female. He is the one who told me all about truscum and tucute, it’s baffling! Basically, my friend is considered truscum, or transmed, because he believes that to be trans, you have to experience gender dysphoria and desire for transition (it isn’t always possible to achieve). I agree with him, tbh. I knew him for a few years before he came out as trans, and I can see that being his true self has helped him loads, psychologically. He had top surgery as he used to have large breasts which was distressing for him. I don’t think he plans to have bottom surgery because the procedure is so complicated. But yeah, he is so much happier and he doesn’t feel like he’s lying to himself anymore, and I am so proud of him. There’s a poster here who has a trans son, you are awesome and I’m sure your son appreciates you so much.
And he be the perfect example for my “argument” with my trans friend. Because I assume he is would still need to get a smear test as well because he might not get bottom surgery. So it’s for those trans people I say you shouldn’t deny biological sex.

Women who have had PCOS, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, children, abortions, periods, or women who have been told they won't have a period because there is a health issue, women undergoing menopause --all know what it is to be a woman: the ONLY thing that makes us different from men are these very biological things.
Being a woman is not lipstick, pink, a gravitation to pretty things, the desire to have long hair, or wear high heels. We are absolutely no different from men aside from our physical bodies and the limitations (and joys) that come from them. I don't wake up thinking like a woman. I wake up thinking like "me". I am reminded I am a woman by other people and by my own body, otherwise I'm not different from my brother.
What gay men and straight men for that matter on the other side of this argument don't understand is how the philosophy of gender performance = woman/man hurts actual women. It rolls us back to the 1950s when women had to look a certain way, act a certain way, and only like certain things in order to be the "right sort of woman."

Agreed. the likes of "men have periods too" "stop talking about x bio problem it's offensive", the trans women have vaginas rethoric and we have front holes, the "having enough bags to color coordinate your outfits with" (quote from a buzzfeed article on the struggles of being trans) pisses me off for that reason.
@bubbletea123 I’m not actually sure that gay men are at the forefront of this (although the likes of Owen Jones, Dr Harrop and TV’s Dr Christian Jensen are particularly nasty examples). If Twitter is anything to go by, the majority of the most vehement TRAs I notice seem to fall into several distinct categories:
1. trans women
2. bearded leftie men (a proportion of these will be gay, of course
)
3. women
Group 1 seem to be incel types who love being able to spew forth their misogyny. Group 2 also enjoy having a socially acceptable outlet for their misogyny. 3. Internalised misogyny? That, and female socialisation to “be kind”, “be nice”, and “don’t anger the men because you’ll regret it”.

It's almost as if there's a difference based on whether the person in question was socialised as male or female....
From my own experience I can tell you that most women who support this mostly do it out of fear. and there's a lot of "not looking further into it" going on. out of the few trans people who are speaking out against the extremism of the movement most were transmen. The further I get into this the scarier it gets. This is 10000% a male led movement. Been looking on twitter and am disgusted by the cotton ceiling concept that's been mentioned here. Seen a bit about women and transmen but its practically non-existant. I don't know who is a lesbian on this thread but the abuse you're getting from some people leaves me speechless. The logic behind it makes no sense.
You know what's funny? lesbians are expected to date transwomen but ask all the straightmen who are shoving down our throats TWAW (what the duck would you know about it?) if they'd date a transwoman and you'll get crickets.

I can't cope with the idea that in 2020 there are people who consider themselves liberal or woke or whatever term, but dont prioritise the concept of complete and utter consent regarding sex. Nobody should be expected to have sex with anyone they don't 100% freely want to have sex with. Maybe it's because I'm a grape survivor but the thought of a woman who only wants to have sex with women feeling pressure to engage with male genitalia makes me feel physically sick. I don't think anyone should feel obliged to have sex with anyone they're not fully freely consenting to. How is that controversial?

I've always thought non-binary was a women who is a little masculine/butch doesn't fit into the female stereotype.
