NAMALT = Not All Men Are Like That.

Edit: it grinds my gears when having a discussion about male violence and someone always pipes up to remind everyone that lots of men are lovely, because god forbid we hurt their feelings by talking about male violence.
Oh well excuse me then, heaven forbid anyone should "grind your gears". This is a gender discussion thread, it's not about male violence, although I realise that is part of the equation. However, I don't think it does any harm to recognise that men are not automatically demons purely because they are men.

I think we have focussed on the safety side of the discussion for a long time - but what about the fairness side of it?

Is it fair for a woman to lose her space on a sports team to someone who is male-bodied?
Is it fair our world records have been broken by people who have spent 30+years living as a man?
Is it fair for a women officer role to be populated by someone who admittedly 'doesnt even have gender dysphoria?'

Is is fair for girls in the USA to lose their chance at a university education when their female only scholarships (which were put in place to mitigate the disadvantage women and girls face in education) are taken by male people.

I dont think it is.

Why are men's feelings more important than mine?
None of that is fair to women.

Depends what you mean by “full journey”. Very few transwomen have genital surgery - and I don’t blame them, because it is extreme and the recovery is long and complications are common.

I think it’s a common misconception that the definition of “transwoman” involves hormones and surgery when it often doesn’t.
Well if they don't take the hormones or have surgery then they aren't really a woman then are they? They are a man crossdressing.

I mean, no. They’re a transwoman.
They still have a pen though and are simply wearing women's clothes and changing their pronoun...so cross-dressing. They should not be using women's bathrooms. And this is how it gets complicated. If I saw someone in the bathroom/gym changing room, etc, who clearly had stubble but was wearing women's clothing, it would make me uncomfortable. Or if I requested a woman gyne/Dr and got one with stubble, deep voice, but women's clothing, I would not want to be seen by them but that would make me the mole. However, women should not be made to feel uncomfortable to speak up, especially in a medical setting.

Did I say they should? No.

But they aren’t men. That’s not crossdressing. They’re still transwomen.

I know a transman who hasn't gone through any hormone or other surgical changes. Their dysphoria exists and they hate their body, but they said surgery is something they fought for and didn't gain access too. Eventually they decided they wouldn't go down that route because while they have gender dysphoria, it's elevated enough by socially transitioning that they don't feel it's 100% necessary for them to live as they want to live. Sure, he still has the biological body of a female but he is still a transman.

TL;DR on this thread and its discourse: I just wish people wouldn't use transwomen as a scapegoat for pretty much... everything, when it's more often than not (with few exceptions but it seems those exceptions get pushed too much to fight an agenda?) an issue people have with cis men (and yes I use cis men since "men" is not enough in this thread since I have seen gender dysphoric transwomen be referred to as "men in women's clothing"). There is no simple solution to protect everyone's safety but that solution should not come at the expense of transwomen or transmen and their safety.

Anyway, here's an important petition that needs more signatures: https://tattle.life/threads/19920/

I think that’s unfair. As discussed earlier in the thread, a lot of trans women are on lengthy waiting lists to see specialists and get access to hormones and their dysphoria can be so severe to the point of suicide. They are trans women, just because they don’t have the finances to access private health care doesn’t diminish them and their identity.

this! My son's dysphoria is very focused on his body and for him it hasn't elevated enough for him to not want surgery but it's improved a lot since he came out and socially transitioned - sometimes that's enough for people. My son wants surgery but it's going to be years before he can (a, given that he has to be 18, and b, because of hefty waiting lists) - and by then he might end up feeling the same and feeling it's just not worth the agro.

My son is not a 'girl in boys clothing', just as transwomen are not 'men in dresses'. Saying so is transphobic and invalidating.

What about those that don't have dysphoria and demand to be recognised as women? And they do exist.

I’m not entirely sure what it means to not have dysphoria and be trans. Is having dysphoria not the one thing that makes a person trans?

Or is that referring to men who are not trans but are pretending to be and asking to be recognised as women with other motives?

That's not what you said, though. You're deflecting the subject.

And honestly? Some of those people who claim not to have dysphoria but claim to be trans because they feel like a woman - I think a percentage of them probably do have dysphoria but are misidentifying it. There's a whole community of trans people who have transitioned and feel that they don't have dysphoria but I bet they do, they just aren't defining it as they should.

Sure there's always going to be bad eggs but you can't refer to pre-op transgender women as men because of a small minority of people.

In the traditional style of being transsexual, yes it was someone with gender dysphoria. Now anyone can refer to themselves as a woman just because they put on a dress and have pronouns in their bio. Those sinister men who are fetishising women are now demanding access to our private spaces. I posted a video a few pages back that shows these frightening men exist. I can't make it any clearer- its those men we are frightened of, not people with actual gender dysphoria

There is a term in the trans community called transcum, so it proves that "trans people" who don't have dysphoria exist

Huh? What did I say before?

I just feel like sadly, there are always going to be evil men who will try to sexually assault and grape women. Remove this option of posing as trans to gain access to women only spaces and they will find another way.

Your previous post referred to those who were yet to undergo surgery or hormone therapy and said these were men cross dressing. I was stating that I disagree and those with dysphoria who are pre-treatment for whatever reason are trans women.

I also don’t agree that these predatory men claiming to be trans to harm others can be classed as part of the trans community or as trans people - I think this an insult to trans women. These predators are liars and they are men - they have nothing to do with those with genuine dysphoria.

Thing is nobody is denying that there is a small minority of people taking advantage. Literally nobody is.

And like I said there IS a community who believe that they don't have dysphoria. But they are just that - part of the trans community and not people looking to harm anyone. I don't understand their view and I think the majority are probably just misinformed on the actual definition of dysphoria, but they're still trans.

Don't put those men who are in any kind of 'trans' community category. They're not part of that community so do not even-

Just because there are these minority of people doesn't mean that calling pre-op transwomen 'men' is okay. That's where the issue lies in what you said.

(Ok, I apologise, I just realised you arent the one who said that) But still what I said re: dysphoria-less trans people still stands. Those men are NOT a part of the community so don't lump them with real trans people.

I think you may be mixing me up with someone else as I'm not sure which post you're referring to.
