Yes. But there are a lot of aspects that need looking at in order to build an accurate picture - numbers of trans people, what definition of trans we're even using, underreporting of crimes against minority groups etc.
In my opinion no one should get "points" for casting such a minor part. But how is a woman missing out on an acting role when they cast a trans actress instead - the gender of the person doesn't sound remotely relevant to the part.

You'd tell the difference by how they acted. If they're keeping to themselves and just getting changed vs staring, overt sexual behaviour etc.
I think one of the main reasons is bone growth in girls (I don’t know anything about precocious puberty in boys or whether it even occurs in boys that much?). A girl experiencing a very early puberty will also be expected to start her periods very early, and reach her adult height not too long afterwards.

If I had the guts I would respond that my pronouns are sex based like my oppression!
