This woman's thread is a horror show, and again unsurprising. These men know the girls they are grooming are well underage.

Nigella is in the Independent this Sunday comparing ‘cruelty’ towards transwomen to that of racial segregation...

This knocks me sick. I have a little girl, just turned 6. How the hell do I protect her?

it reminds me of when I was a teenager back in 2000 on ICQ (anyone remember that?) and then MSN. Guys from all around the world would message inappropriately. I thought it was hilarious at the time but looking back I’m like wtf.

Virtually every woman has had varying degrees of degrading, unsafe, inappropriate attention at the hands of grown men. It makes me so angry.

The thing that really gets me about this is that the sheer scale of it means it’s being done by men we know, or are even related to/married to. Not just possible, probable.

This is scary but I do believe that it is manageable. I have three daughters and have always been very open about the good and the bad in the internet (as well as real life situations). You keep the dialogue open and honest and make sure she knows that you will always help, no matter how silly she's been. I had friends in total denial about what their daughters were up to and that their daughters would lie to them, it was often me scraping them up from awful encounters and making them safe again. You can't make the monsters go away but you can provide a safety net.

As @SoulRebel says, and to quote a post from another forum on the same subject, no social media until the child understands the basics of privacy and predation. The poster recommended internet restriction and early and continuing education appropriate to the age of the child. It also depends on parents continually educating themselves on current technology.

This is far more than you probably had as a teen, and an abundance of caution will certainly help your daughter.

To me it makes perfect sense. They are all heavily into gender stereotypes, as already mentioned.

I get that, however been looking into their thoughts on it and at least in the US they don't believe in the basic concept of transgenderism.

Regarding the discussion of porn, has anyone listened to Jon Ronson’s podcast series The Butterfly Effect? Like all of his stuff, it’s excellent. There’s a few stats that look into the effect porn is having on young people.

Glad someone mentioned Clementine Ford. She is gross. The final straw for me was several months back when she shared the name, profile, location and school of a young boy who sent her an abusive DM.

I thought that was absolutely outrageous. She’s a grown woman with a huge following. There was no way her first response should have been to essentially dox a child. People called her out in her insta comments but she remained unbowed.

she’s an idiot.

Two words - woke points.

Most people aren’t on twitter, I believe most people outside of the social media bubble think the whole “person who menstruates” stuff is nonsense or aren’t even aware it’s a thing.

Only women menstruate. Guess google is a confirmed TERF.

Twitter is a wokedom echo chamber and I think they forget that the majority of people think they’re ridiculous.

I’d love this to be put to the test via democratic vote, it would be Brexit/General Election levels of shock at the *uneducated bigots* not towing the line.

If they want to go down the ‘acknowledging’ route then why not say “for women and trans men”. Surely everyone is acknowledged then?

It’s just ridiculous when products for men aren’t getting the same treatment. You never see condoms with “for people who ejaculate” on the label, or Gillette changing their slogan to “the best a person who shaves their face can get”. I’m sick of it all.
