When I mentioned it to my (gay) stepdaughter, she told me that she had met so many men on les sites, back when she was single, that she was sick and tired of telling them to duck off. (One actually turned up to meet her, despite promising that he was an actual female les. Sadly for him, my daughter doesn't take kindly to liars and although she didn't go into too much detail, I think she scared him off of actual female lesbians for a while)
But isn't it sad that les bars and clubs are gone. We really can't have anything just for women, can we?

I know what you mean, but as I'm currently jobless and the market is horrid, I don't feel like i have a ton of options. tit as it is, but we are in a climate where expressing your opinion freely only goes one way.
Edit: I also obviously have no idea whether anyone on that call would have reacted badly or held it against me, I'm projecting a lot from my last job there. But as I need a new one, I didn't' want to risk it...

I work in public service so I've found the best way is to keep your mouth firmly closed about anything other than work. Never tell your colleagues who you vote for or what your views are on sensitive subjects. If anyone asks me what I did at the weekend I just say that I went out with friends and leave everything as vague as possible. The only thing that it's safe to talk about apart from work is possibly a TV show you've seen but I don't generally bother with that either because I simply don't care what my colleagues think about anything.
I know there's people who will say this is cowardly but we go to work to do a job. I don't care if my colleagues think I'm the most boring woman on earth because I tell them nothing of any value. They're not my friends and I don't expect them to be.
Good luck with the job searching and if they ask you about books again just give a vague answer like you enjoy crime/romance or whatever. Don't set yourself up to let others judge you. Be really boring like me xx

Not cowardly at all - it's pragmatic. We all have to earn a living, and if a term ( a term I now consider as a badge of honour) leaves a job, or is forced out, it allows a TRA to get a chance of getting in. Things are slowly changing. Just quietly place mark.

Call it pragmatism, call it self-preservation or whatever, but it's absolutely the way to go, imo.
As I often say, little did we know we would look back on what now appear to be 'the good old days' with fond eyes when people went to work to y'know work. We didn't need to know what fetishes our colleagues had, nor indeed their pronouns. And as women, we didn't have to worry about men using our toilets or changing facilities. Those were the days, eh.

Can't go into detail without outing myself, but I'm pleased to say I sent an email at work today correcting a communication that referred to gender. I pointed out that in this instance the legislation is clear and it is sex not gender. Waiting for a response and doubt I will find out who drafted it, but it will have to be changed. An easy win due to the circumstances, guidance and legislation being unequivocal - thankfully.
