Appalling. How many more of these cases are there that have gone uninvestigated?

I see the comments on the original post have been turned off. I appreciate it will attract some comments from some unpleasant racist people, but there is something to be said about why these offences are being committed primarily by men from a Pakistani Muslim background. It isn't racist to point out that some cultures foster attitudes towards women that enable and endorse this kind of behaviour.

How selfish and cruel do you have to be to expect women who have actually suffered the loss of a pregnancy to indulge him in such a perverse fetish. This summer a young woman in shorts and T-shirt was in front of me in a charity shop waiting to be served. She was tanned but had many "healed" self-harm scars the entire length of her legs, her arms were also scarred. So sad.

Yes, I have them. But I don't show them. (Too wrinkly to wear revealing stuff anyway thank God.) Sometimes I think they're a private reminder of the struggles I've survived and conquered, at other times I deeply regret doing it. And that's the other problem with transitioning children and young people: what feels like a necessity in your teens / 20s is very often something you have a completely different view on when you're older, calmer and more resilient.

I think it's quite common, if you look on forums for spouses of AGP men, eg the trans widows threads on mumsnet, you'll see that loads of these men 'come out' as trans when their wives are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Yes but there's a difference between being invited (because the system hasn't realised) and actually having it done. I would imagine they would be turned away when they got to the appointment.

I got turned away because they had accidentally invited me 6 months too early and they only realised when I showed up so I can't imagine they would actually go through with a screening when they got there.

How many nights has she sat and cried with the strain of it all, I wonder? And then the next day stood up straight, shoulders back, head held high and determinedly strode the gauntlet of the press - a magnificent example to her supporters.

I'll bet (if the comments that people have reported are anything to go by) that as well as support, there has been catcalling, nasty e-mails, social media criticism etc. This can't have been easy for her.

I do think he gets it, but his position on men with DSDs (like Caster) really muddies things. A simple cheek swab sex test would stop this before it even happens.

As the voice part is now for an actual girl - I suspect they will be replaced or dubbed. As they won’t sound like a girl any more than they look like one.

Woomp there it is, mom pushing the agenda. Everyone should be represented? EVERYONE? Get a grip. Also, how is it a setback? For such a small percentage of the population, trans people are featured heavily in mainstream media; I would wager they are overrepresented compared to other minority groups.
