I was sure Moira Donegan had written about this issue (trans women prisoners in Ireland) but I'm struggling to find anything! I am sure I read an article by her specifically talking about how women in an Irish prison were now taking birth control because three were pregnant having been grape by a trans woman in the prison.

Am I mixing her up with someone else?

Thinking about it for two seconds,I remember a little more = the article's argument was that if THIS didn't stop transwomen in women's prisons nothing will (similar to how americans talk about how if Sandy Hook didn't result in gun legislation, nothing will). I am now worried that it was in Canada but I am sure I fact checked it/ it was a reputable journalist/ and it happened.

He did it to highlight the lunacy of Canada! I thought the video of the previous “female” record holder that he beat in tears that a man falsely claimed to be a woman in order to beat “her” record was and worth that alone.

Yes it was brilliant. Unfortunately, we really need more men to take a stand like this because that is what will actually make a difference.

Yes it was brilliant. Unfortunately, we really need more men to take a stand like this because that is what will actually make a difference.

Im in two minds, it is sort of brilliant in the execution of highlighting it, but it also means no actual woman is ever going to beat that record now, for as long as the record exists. If the highlighting of it causes Canada to retract and take away the records of these “women” and restore some sanity, then yes definitely brilliant

I saw one 'in the wild' recently too. He had a mini skirt on with the waistband underneath his beer belly and had a big earring like a pirate. The sight was breath taking.

I saw one yesterday, tall, skinny, long blonde "hair" (they do love a bit of blonde), make-up, dressed fairly "normal" but you could spot at twenty paces it was a man....long face, big nose and heavy jaw. He also had a little dog in a coat on a leash, both items had some sort of info printed on them, like "assistance" type doggy or something but I was too busy looking at him to read the info stuff.
Probably said "My pronouns are..."

I don't think it was official, it was done specifically as a protest to prove a point and in the Daily Mail article (can't believe we have to rely on them to report this tit ) it state's he "unofficially breaks the female bench press record for the 84+ kilograms women's category, which was a 270lbs press - officially set by a trans lifter."

The transwoman whose record he broke was a misogynistic piece of tit (surprising I know ) and recorded a video mocking how bad woman were at bench pressing:

"Silverberg smashed the record set by transgender powerlifter Anne Andres, who has previously mocked women for being 'so bad' at bench pressing.
'Why is women's bench so bad?' she said in February.
'I mean not compared to me, we all know that I'm a ****** freak, so that doesn't count.
'I mean, standard bench in powerlifting competitions for women. I literally don't understand why it's so bad.'
She made the statements in a video uploaded online."

He was right about the part of him being a freak.

Exactly, Audrey Hepburn also had something these men will never have, compassion for the world, an urge to protect innocent children and she added to society through her charitable work. She was so much more than a little black dress and pearls. She understood true suffering, she survived nearly being starved to death during World War 2, and as a result suffered lifelong health issues. As a result of her experiences she worked with Unicef to get food aid to children in need. These men will never replicate that though, as it requires so much more of a person that putting on a frock and some lippy. Ironically, they don't have the balls to be a woman.

Oh, apologies, I didn’t read the DM article (as an aside, on this issue, I’ve stopped feeling guilty posting DM links, i feel more embarrassed linking to the Guardian and Metro!) I read it elsewhere and it didn’t mention that it wasn’t an official record. Is the record he beat an official record do you know?

I bench lift and have been doing so for a while. My current lift is a ‘starter’ lift for the guys in my lifting class!

Never knew absolutely any of that, sad that she was reduced in the general passing public eye as the black dress and pearls.

When Dylan gets compared to Audrey Hepburn I always think about when they said ‘I want to be a mom one day and I absolutely can’.
Audrey spent many years trying to get pregnant, felt the pain of multiple miscarriages and if I remember correctly nearly lost one of her sons during the pregnancy. I don’t think she would like to be compared, maybe even on a superficial level, to a person who is biologically male making a mockery by saying out loud how they want to be a mother.

So I was wrong about it being Ireland, and wrong about it being Moira Donegan - it was definitely Rachel Moran, who is a gender critical feminist/ Irish activist/ particularly working on protecting prostitutes and helping them exit (counter ot most liberal sex worker is work! sex workers want to be sex work rhetoric). I cannot find it though! I can find instances of this happening but not ones from 2020 or earlier which was when I followed Moran on twitter.
