This is what being squeamish about the word sex has gone. It’s equated gender and sex so people use the wrong word. Fuckwits all of them

Enclosed toilet facilities, such as the ones you get in smaller cafés and restaurants, are not an issue. They're one person in, one person out, so no risk.

Women's toilets with cubicles and shared open space that have either been converted into a gender neutral toilets, or open to trans identifying men, is what I have an issue with. Despite the obvious opportunity this gives predatory males (and we know that men WILL claim to be trans to access women's spaces), both men and women deserve a bit of bloody privacy with their own bathroom facilities.

Women should always have their own bathroom facilities that are not open to men with penises. It isn't the responsibility of women to make trans identifying males feel comfortable.

Why is no one mentioning that Humza holds the same beliefs, as a Muslim? If we are saying that no First Minister can hold religious beliefs then surely that excludes Humza too? Or are folk scared to be called racist now too? I don’t share Kate Forbe’s ‘beliefs’ but she’s at least been upfront instead of body swerving the question like Humza, who I do not trust one bit but can predict he’s about to become my new FM.

Makes me so mad that LGB have spent years having to defend the fact that same sex attraction is absolutely NOT in the same bracket as pedos and these TRA are associating LGBT with sexualising children openly 🤮 AND if you call it out you’re anti lgbt and a bigot. Fuck sake. This is not fair on LGB.

Hi everyone. I’m new on here and have yet to catch up with the whole thread but I really felt like I needed a space to discuss my feelings on the what’s happening with gender in society at the moment as I feel like it’s hard to discuss my POV in person without being accused of being “transphobic.”
I guess to start I want to say I’m not transphobic in any way shape or form and I do genuinely believe gender dysphoria is a real issue for a small number of people and I support these peoples right to get help. I also would fight for the rights of anyone who felt they weren’t being treated equal. At the same time I think the gender discussion in society has taken a turn and is actually doing more harm than good for those who are genuinely trans.
I grew up in the late 90s / early 00s with a lot of tomboy friends and some feminine boys, some in their adult life turned out to be gay, some didn’t. I feel like today feminine boys and tomboys are instantly assumed to be trans or to have some sort of issue with their gender and it baffles me. I love seeing people express their identity in different ways through clothes, makeup etc. but feel like how people express themselves is being intertwined with their gender/sex and actually promoting traditional gender roles rather than going against them like they claim to.
I’m a woman (I refuse to use the term cis for myself, sorry not sorry) and I am so confused by people who say women are simply people who internally feel like women. I’m just like… can someone tell me what that feels like cause after 30 years living as a woman I’m not even sure I could explain it. A woman is what I am not who I am.
in a society that has become so accepting I find it odd how people can’t just express their identity in any way they please cause as I mentioned I feel the current narrative actually promotes traditional gender roles / traits rather than squash them I.e. biological men wearing dresses and claiming to be trans or non binary because dresses aren’t traditionally masculine. Wearing a dress and makeup is not what makes me a woman. I actually hate dresses!!
I have so many thoughts on this and the above might seem wishy washy and not thought out properly but I’ve just so many thoughts about it! But I am going to end with this… A good friend of mine (male) went to the doctor last year with some problems- no sex drive, weight gain, depressive episodes and overall feeling shit. He was miserable for a long time and I saw him suffer through it. After blood tests etc. he was diagnosed with a small tumor, which is not life threatening, on his pituitary gland resulting in his estrogen levels spiking and causing all his symptoms. Immediately he had to to go on meds to shrink the tumour and get his body back to “normal”. The doctordiscussed the potential side effects if he had have ignored his symptoms and had his estrogen levels continue to rise including increased risk of cancer, depression etc. This immediately made me think of biological men that are put on female hormones long term to fix their issues with their gender and I thought surely this isn’t good long term. And on the flip side is even worse for women considering testosterone is far more potent as a hormone. It’s scary that cross sex hormones are given to people indefinitely but not enough is actually discussed about the long term side effects. And they’re giving them to teens… it’s a scary time.
This encapsulates it completely. The thing that makes us Female is our biology, everything else makes us individuals

I’m not sure why I’m writing this, but I just need to get it off my chest. I’ve always been a little bit of a tomboy growing up, and when I was 15/16 up until I was around 18 or so, I had extremely short hair and I dressed androgynous and I loved it. I even wondered what it’d be like to be a boy. Essentially, I hated my femininity. However, now that has completely flipped. I’m in my early twenties now, and I love nail varnish (never quite got on board with the whole makeup thing sadly haha), and I love wearing skirts and I love wearing dresses. It somehow still feels a bit weird that I’ve become comfortable with my femininity, but I love it. I’m even growing my hair out for the first time since I was about 14. However, the only thing I don’t like are my periods because mine are very heavy and can be very painful sometimes. Unfortunately it’s different each month in terms of how painful/heavy my period is. When I was in my teens, the pain would be so bad I’d have to lie down or else I’d faint. Thankfully the pain is mostly just mild discomfort nowadays, but on rare occasions it can be very bad. I have no idea why I’m writing this, but I just wanted to put my thoughts out there. Essentially, I’m feeling very empowered by finding my femininity and my style. In fact, I now don’t like looking androgynous, which is a bit hard in this cold weather as a lot of my jumpers are quite loose fitting 😂😂
We've all been failed by the medical system and society in relation to our bodies. To feel that there's something wrong with the female body, that pregnancy and birth should be medicalized (yes in some cases, but mostly not as it's a natural physiological process that doesn't need intervention, just support). We've been made to think that painful periods are normal and to just get on with it. Or to spend years or even decades taking hormonal contraceptives to "control" our fertility instead of being taught how to monitor our bodies and choose the right time to avoid/achieve pregnancy. The medical world has conveniently ignore women's health and put less research into understanding conditions like endometriosis, fibromyalgia etc, because they are complex and female.
Something as simple as a Vitamin D deficiency can cause heavy painful periods, easily detected by a blood test and fixed with supplements and dietary changes, and a bit more Time outside in the sun.

We have lived in an unbalanced world for so long know, women have been ignore, fobbed off, taught to expect pain and discomfort is normal, not allowed to trust our bodies and our femininity. I suspect a lot of teen girls as you described end up feeling super uncomfortable in their bodies when they are surrounded by an unbalanced, masculine focused world.
We need to celebrate our amazing bodies and genetics, be given the education to know and understand how they work and how to be healthy and comfortable in a woman's body, and more science should be funded and devoted to women's health. It's great you're finding happiness in your own skin and being more comfortable in your femininity!

What is it with clothing companies these days? They are incapable of selling to ordinary women. When I was young every model you saw was tall and skinny. Of course the average woman didn't look like them. You'd see a lovely dress that looked fantastic on the model, then you'd try it on and realise that it certainly didn't look the same on you.

Instead of moving away from this in a positive way we now have men modelling women's clothing and brands like Snag use hugely obese women.

Why can't a brand pick a model who is a good looking woman (size 12 to 14)? That would sell to most of us because then we could see the clothing on a woman who looked great that wasn't extremely thin or extremely large. Why do advertisers think that extreme looks sell clothing 🤔 its baffling.

You're so right. I know a woman whose married to an AGP, she calls him her wifeband! Anyway my husband saw him the other day and like my husband he's in the building trade, I said "how was he dressed' and he said like a builder! So he's basically a part time pervert!
He is super creepy, when he's dressed up he looks like his wife.
Apparently 3-6% of men have some sort of cross dressing fetish. I can't think of anything less appealing than being in a relationship with a man and that being his kink. When I was younger I'd have probably have just said, "they're just clothes" or whatever, but nowadays I find AGPs and the like absolutely fucking vile.

In the KJK Let Women Speak documentary, she meets with parents including a mother who got her child out of the gender trap. She read a lot of material on cult mentality and cult deprogramming. She also had to take her child out of public school, surround them with positive role models and cut off social media (this can be very difficult). But essentially, recognising the current gender theory etc as a cult. Can you find people who would be good to hang around with - especially gender non-conforming people who are comfortable in their skin, day trips out in nature where phones get put away. Also, find other women, female friends etc, who can openly say how much puberty sucks, but once you're through it, it's much better and there are many options so that a woman doesn't have to have a period, but it doesn't mean she's a boy.
Yes, it is one massive open source cult that seems to adopt new victims on such a huge scale. In the past, other cults relied on local victims and local indoctination. Social media has allowed a mass scale cult to develop so quickly and it’s claiming lives and health and affecting family relationships, friendships, public life and policy :(
Women have always put up with a lot of misogyny under the guise of ‘humour’ and ‘it’s just a joke, lighten up’, ‘bit of fun’. So maybe we won’t put up with it from any men, gay or straight, any more. And if that makes it less fun for men, I don’t care, it wasn’t fun for women in the first place. Women were only ever pretending to laugh so men didn’t turn angry and violent.
Esepcially middle aged menopausal women seem to be the butt of most misogynistic jokes :(. The way menopausal women are made out to be stupid, silly cows, hysterical (I hate that word), ugly crones, Karens, fussy, etc etc. And then women can be just as cruel to other women and ourselves. How often we go “oh i’m just being silly because I’m a woman” etc. Now I am in my 30s i think of all the “lighthearted” jibes my aunt endured from males in the family when she was going through her menopause. :(. She’s a sensitive soul anyway and the menopause made her go through so much physical and emotional discomfort and I just remember (as a teen at that time) how my uncle, my dad, and my grandad would make jokes about her being silly, forgetful, having hot flushes and she sat there “taking the jokes” but I realise she was probably dying inside. Things settled down for her but it took years for her to feel right.

I don't think this has already been shared, Joan Collins writing in the Independent on IWD.

it’s also somewhat disturbing that, even in our progressive western countries, our hard-won freedoms could be subtly eroded. It worries me that we might be inadvertently subjugated with the censure of female-only spaces or words like “mother” and “breastfeeding” (and told we must use terms like “female parent” and “chestfeeding” instead.) We must beware that we are not being kicked back into inequality by politically correct stealth.

Michele Visage is going all in on ‘you’ve been entertained by drag for decades’ drag is not the problem. Did laugh that she was corrected that most of her historic ‘drag artists’ were white men so she had to add a version with black drag artists.

I just see them all as mocking women and seeing women as a costume that men can pretend to be (and be better at).

Again, people were entertained by racism for decades, didn’t make it right.

BBC News alert just came in:

I saw that his ex said this 'His gender transition is a sham for attention and an easier life in prison. When I saw the photos of him dressed as a woman with a blonde wig and pink lycra leggings, I fell out of bed laughing'

This tallies with what an acquaintance of mine told me, who works at HMP Whatton (largest prison in Europe for male sex offenders). Some of them decide they are trans once they arrive as they get it easier, they can wear their own clothes etc. It's an absolute joke.

It's interesting to note that when the child asserted that there are only two genders instead of the 73 the drag queen said there were, the drag queen sent him out of the class with the words 'you've upset me' thus showing a group of impressionable children that this is not open to discussion and anyone attempting to debate the issue will be shut down and excluded.
Why the hell does a drag queen have the right to kick a child out of a classroom because of hurty feelings.

The school needs a kick in the arse for the original idea and then allowing this on top.

This doesn't amount to 'gender discussion', but I'm wondering if I'm alone in this: when shopping online for women's clothing, I've noticed a trend in the reviews that makes me very uncomfortable, especially when shopping for tights, leggings, short dresses and skirts. There are almost always guys in there posting a review that is usually irrelevant PLUS a suggestive photo of themselves in drag and wearing said item. I suspect they're autogynophile (sp?) and exhibitionists and get off on knowing unsuspecting women are basically forced to look at them. Tried to report them, but Amazon's gone woke apparently as they're never removed. Usually I love to read reviews to learn more about sizing and fit, but what used to be a safe space for women has now also been invaded by men and I try to avoid them. Just wanted to get this off my chest and see if I'm the only one with this issue :)

Something I've been raging internally over for a long time is the lack of research into women's reproduction, periods etc.
I'm one of three women I've ever met (my Mama, another) who has never suffered side effects from periods. Doesn't matter the time of month, I'll still be hiking, dancing, sparring with male boxers etc without a thought.
Meanwhile, a cousin will literally be on the floor doubled up crying and sleeps on towels.
A friend is very health-conscious in her lifestyle and diet - and has always been so - and yet has all kinds of issues with her periods.
Why?
Why isn't there research done into it?
What are/are there the correlations between the side effects and health/ability to conceive/etc? Are there differences between ethnicities, climate, and so on?
Do child-bearing hips have any impact? (Had to add that one haha)
Why do some girls settle into their cycle pretty much instantly as they hit puberty and others still can't rely on anything well into their 20s? (Cause everyone is different is not a good enough answer for me!)
How has the Pill changed things? Does it/howso impact on puberty/hormones and fertility for the offspring of women who've been on it for any/long length of time?
I know we're expensive to study because of our monthly hormone fluctuations but seriously!

How The Pill Changes Everything by Sarah Hill shows there is a lot to be studied.
So why aren't we?

As it’s International Women’s Day, who are some of your favourite female authors/books you love by women? My favourite authors include Jacqueline Wilson, Cathy Cassidy, Holly Bourne, Shirley Jackson, Diana Wynne Jones, and J.K. Rowling. My favourite book is We Have Always Lived In The Castle by Shirley Jackson 🤓
I will undoubtedly will remember more in a few hours, however, as a start and listed in absolutely no order (this is a selection...):

Jane Austen, Bronte sisters, Elizabeth Gaskell, Elinor M.Brent-Dyer, Alison Weir, Mary Cavendish, Sarah Gristwood, Georgette Heyer, Tracy Borman, Dorita Fairlie Bruce, Betty Neels, Mary Burchell (who under her real name, Ida Cook, wrote a memoir - INCREDIBLE woman), Antonia Fraser, Hildegard von Bingen, Leanda de Lisle, Nancy Mitford, Anne Applebaum, Elizabeth Chadwick

Authors I have loved since childhood and will never part with (and will read to my future children): Elyne Mitchell, Lorna Hill, Noel Streatfeild, May Gibbs, Jean Estoril, Beatrix Potter, Enid Blyton, Dorothy Wall, Pullein-Thompson sisters, Frances Hodgson Burnett

The School That Escaped The Nazis by Deborah Cadbury is a fantastic read about Anna Essinger and her tireless efforts to help Jewish children make it to safety in the UK. (Non-fiction)
The Dreaming Sex is an anthology of Victorian era scifi stories by women.
Mary Lovell's biographies on the Mitford sisters & Bess of Hardwick. (Non-fiction)
Wellington's Dearest Georgy by Alice Marie Crossland is an unexpected gem. (Non-fiction)
Judith Koll Healy's The Canterbury Papers, & The Rebel Princess are fun reads about Princess Alaïs of France.

Project Gutenberg has an amazing array of old books available online with many women writers.

Yuck. It’s like public surprise proposals at graduations or during marathons or any other time when a woman is caught off guard and being guilted into it.
The absolute worst bit is other pupils turning up with posters stating that he’s too good for her anyway. WTF, so because she said no she’s trash. It made me very 😡

It really pisses me off they're using fear mongering tactics and claiming to be one or two steps away from extermination or a genocide when they aren't. How dare they constantly align themselves with the Holocaust and compare their "struggle" to what Jewish people went through - and still experience as a result of the Nazis. There are scores of Jewish families with a generation or two missing, many who are still discovering branches of their families 70-80 years later. The TRAs have no idea how much harm they're doing with their perpetual victimhood rhetoric: it undermines and dilutes the seriousness of the Holocaust and subsequent genocides that have occurred since. They're a morally disgusting group of so-called activists. I hate how they immediately label anyone who doesn't agree with them as a Nazi or Hitler - do they even realise what sort of people are drawn to and/or operate in those far right spaces? It's not the majority of the general public and it's outrageous they are gaslighting us all like this. Stupid stupid people. Perhaps the home boxed pastel hair dye kits has damaged their IQ...

Nah this is fucked ngl. People are making the argument ‘they’re babies, they won’t remember it’…. So you know that it’s wrong to expose them to this but you’re saying it’s fine coz they won’t remember??? Absolute madness.
