I’m gen z and most of my generation definitely do not agree with my views on all of this, at least not publicly, and if I ever dare to speak out on tiktok I get seriously attacked for it but I do know quite a few people my age who agree with me, even if they say different in front of people. My ex best friend is now non binary and weird and my 11 year old little sister who is autistic fell down the weird rabbit hole of anime, gacha life and furries about 2 and a half years ago and being a kid on the internet myself at the time with people at school into the same things, I knew what was coming and warned my mum but my sister is chronically ill as well as ND so my mum never wants to make her upset and never had a serious conversation with her about it. She now has her “pronouns” in her bio on tiktok and roblox saying “he/it” and she recently sent me some drawings she’s done and she drew a heart with the pansexual flag in and the non binary flag in another… she’s 11!!! And autistic!! She doesn’t know anything about herself and she doesn’t go to school, I genuinely feel like these people have groomed her. I was homeschooled for a year when I was 14 and being ND myself (ADHD) I felt how it was possible to get pulled into extreme sides of the internet to find a sense of belonging when I was so isolated in real life, thankfully the internet was quite different back then so I went down the opposite route and had an “edgy” phase (I loved idubbbz and H3H3 and PewDiePie in his edgy phase), I grew out of it but I’m glad I was on that side of the internet rather than the weird gender anime side of the internet. Sorry this is so long, I love a good rant hahaha, I still love my sister so much and don’t want to hurt her so I don’t say anything, but it’s so sad to see when she’s so young and I’m so worried she’s going to get hurt in some way.

Women have always put up with a lot of misogyny under the guise of ‘humour’ and ‘it’s just a joke, lighten up’, ‘bit of fun’. So maybe we won’t put up with it from any men, gay or straight, any more. The usual drag shows in gay bars and clubs are misogynistic, though. I've been to enough to see it for myself. Men dressing up as pornified versions of women and wearing fake breasts, screaming about "getting their minge out", calling themselves "old slappers", barging into the women's toilets saying "it smells like fish in here", I could go on. The highly-produced arena shows with dancers and a full stage set, less so... But the more traditional shows are full of tired misogynistic tropes. I don't actually have much of an issue with drag in the guise of someone doing dramatic makeup and wearing a flash outfit to tell some jokes, but time and time again they punch down and take the piss out of women.

People are free to do as they please, no one is forcing anyone to go to the shows. But don't be surprised when women point out the obvious misogyny of it all.

Regards the term "chest feeding" (which, incidentally, can get in the fucking bin), are they also saying that breast cancer should be called "chest cancer"? Men are men and women are women. The gender recognition act should be repealed as it conflicts with the rights and protections of women and girls. If you remove the people who state they are transgender that are:

-Mixed up kids
-Those with autism
-Autogynephiles and fetishists
-Those who are gay and are pushed towards a trans lifestyle due to homophobia
-Men wanting an easier life (such as in prison)

Then you are left with those who feel they have dysmorphia. They should be helped to be more accepting of their reality and not affirmed. I really believe it’s an area where you just can’t give at all.

You could also make the point that if they really are such a tiny minority (too small to have their own category) then the ones who do exist obviously have a massive physical advantage over biological women or else they wouldn't even rank up there with the best of women's athletes and be able to compete with them in the first place.

It just feels like you need to leave your brain at the door when you accept the argument that trans women (biological men) have no advantage against women in women's sports.

Sat with my step daughter last night going thru one of her dating apps. She’s on Zoe which is for lesbians. We looked at probably 30 profiles and I’d say at least 10 of those were men who ‘identify as lesbian’ My step daughter is fucking brutal and tells any that contact her that she is a lesbian and doesn’t date men She replied to one that he looked more like Lewis Capaldi than Lewis Capaldi himself She thinks she’ll probably be banned soon as a result though which is proper shit.

All of that above - just all of it is clearly stating what the situation is. We are conditioned to be kind as women, it’s our biggest weakness in the world because the world in general is not a kind place when it comes to rights and power. Some spokespeople, like Kellie-Jay Keen and JK Rowling are vilified for being women who speak bluntly, loudly and without shame and speaking uncomfortable truths to men.

You’re lucky. My 11yo woke up with horrendous cramps this morning and was yelling at me to help her.

But in answer to your question, there is no research because women’s health is low priority, women’s pain is all in their head (especially if the pain is coming from organs that men don’t have). That’s why gynae procedures are done with no pain relief. If men had contraceptive coils forced into their bodies it would be done under general anaesthetic. Actually, if men needed coils, coils would never have been put into use on the grounds of being too brutal and deleterious to well-being.

Just yesterday on social media I saw a woman tell an anecdote that, as a doctor was giving her stitches after giving birth, she complained of pain but he said it was only “pressure” because her epidural hadn’t worn off. Then when he’d finished, she got out of bed to prove that it had. That’s women’s health in a nutshell.

I was induced with my daughter and when labour started, I begged the midwives for an epidural but they wouldn’t phone the anaesthetist so I gave birth with no pain relief. Looking back I find it hard to believe that the midwives had ever seen anyone give birth before, because they kept insisting I wasn’t in labour and wouldn’t phone my husband to come back either (he subsequently missed the birth).

I tore and the midwife stitched me up with no pain relief. I was screaming my head off but her attitude was that I was just being a big baby and making a fuss. I’m still pissed off 16 yrs later and wish I’d complained but at the time I wanted to go home and forget about it.

Some people on this thread act as though all drag acts use terms like "fish" and other misogynistic terms. Like I said earlier, I'm sure some do, but any I've seen have literally just been gay men dressed up, telling admittedly off colour jokes, but not aimed at women. If they take the piss out of any demographic it's gay men - that's kind of the point - but it's not mean spirited and you know what you're going to get when you choose to go to one.

I just don't see the portrayal described here in reality, I really don't. But I think it's clear we're never going to agree on this.

I know you genuinely don’t agree, and I suspect we’re never going to agree on this. But you’re on a thread made up of primarily women who are point blank telling you why and how it comes across as misogynistic to them. And you continue to say “no, no, that’s not right, that’s wrong”. In your view.

And I daresay that if someone straight came into the LGB thread and pointed out that homophobic jokes weren’t homophobic, and that they’re just jokes and a bit of fun, and pointing out all the times they went to a show with a heterosexual comedian who was just pretending to be gay but not being offensive and just trying to make a straight audience laugh by playing up to gay stereotypes, that you wouldn’t be taking quite the same stance as you have on this thread. I could be wrong, but..
