to me the public response to this case was pretty revealing. Self-proclaimed progressives reshared misogynistic memes about Amber and spoke with their chests about Depp’s innocence based on nothing other than feeling emboldened to do so by other people doing it.
it was such a potent litmus test on how people assess their sources, how little out of their way they go to look into something before forming an opinion, and how much critical thinking they apply to the information available to them.
This trans stuff is an example of that (and obviously misogyny) IMO - people basing extremely strong, damning opinions on whatever is the most visible opinion at the time. It completely blows that mind that an argument with a logical process devoid of diligence can become mainstream and begin to affect policy as it has done in Scotland and other countries

The problem is that then you become the ‘baddy’. I can’t agree with it myself. Wilfully withholding cancer treatment from someone and just letting them die feels callous - regardless of their fetishes or whatever else you want to call it.
