Popped into my dental practice to make an appointment for a check up and was given a medical form to fill in, told me it's been two years since I completed a previous form. Had a look at the form when I got home, below the boxes for the usual name, address, birth date etc. there is now-
Sex assigned at birth Male 🔲 Female 🔲
Gender Identity ...................

I'm so tempted to score out the all the text and leave only the word "Sex" and both tick boxes

Sounds like nonsense to me. You can’t push someone into being ‘queer’. Like you say, it’s right wing homophobia that gay people have had to put up with for years. The typical “gays are trying to convert people!” rhetoric.

I knew I was gay in my early teens and homosexuality was never mentioned in my childhood. I certainly didn’t know any gay people back then. So duck knows who converted me!

I have no interest in converting anyone. 😅

Appreciate you just posted the tweet and that you don’t really endorse it btw.
I read it more as "queer" as in straight people still being straight, but self IDing as something else (ie a woman IDing as non-binary and a man IDing as non-binary in relationship with each other is still a straight relationship, and they are still straight people, but they just identify as queer)

I'm not really sure how I feel about that tweet to be honest. I feel that "queerness" has caused far more chaos in the LGB community, and on the surface, I'm inclined to say that the notion that it's specifically targeting straight people to disrupt the traditional family unit is....yeah, a conservative perspective.

But then I think about the straight people who get involved in the queer community, their motivations for doing so -- a lot of the time it is fetish driven. These fetishes have always been there but the queer community gives them a place and a voice. Obviously, most don't see their desire to "become a gay man" or "become a lesbian" a fetish.

I do think the queer community, and of course the trans community, preys on people when it comes to self ID and transitioning but I've never really connected the motivations to trying to disrupt the traditional family unit. I've always attributed them to homophobia by bringing in people who are straight to LARP as gay people, speak over us and push us out of our spaces. And the same with trans women when it comes to women's spaces, women's sports, LARPing men taking women's jobs etc. As I've said about Roe vs Wade -- if you don't have the language to describe yourself, are being continually misrepresented by people men who are self IDing and don't share your experiences, how can you defend your rights? 🤷‍♀️

BBC have done it again. Tim Westwood accused of sex with 14 year old breaking news. That’s rape. 14 year olds can’t consent. Words matter.
I've just emailed them. Why do they insist on doing this? it was the same with the Telford grooming piece the other day when they talked about girls 'exchanging sexual favours for presents'. It's bloody rape!

It doesn't suit the bbc mantra to state correctly- especially if it's a bbc person involved, or a particular segment of society.

I truly hate it when events, social or campaign groups etc advertise as "open to women, non-binary and trans people, etc." So basically open to anyone whereas men's groups and events remain men-only

I went to the doctors this morning for a smear (haven’t actually been since pre covid) and I noticed the toilets have changed. There used to be three, one male, one female and one assisted/disabled toilet.

Now, there’s one assisted/disabled toilet, and the other two have the male and female symbol on them with a sign above saying “please be aware that both identifying men and women are using these facilities”

What?!?!?!

I don’t think it’s about converting anyone to homosexuality though - a large majority of people identifying as ‘queer’ on the Internet seem to be straight people in heterosexual relationships who are doing it to get attention and feel special. It absolutely is possible to influence people like that due to social contagion. We’ve talked about this a lot as part of the trans issue and the same factors are involved.
The conspiracy stuff about it being a plot against the sanctity of marriage and the family is manifestly rubbish, but there does seem to be an agenda in getting people to accept sexual practices that were formally very niche or even frowned upon. You have to ask yourself - who benefits the most from such an erosion of boundaries? Because it definitely isn’t women.

Maybe I am a prude, or just older and tired of hearing about other people’s sex lives. I dislike the pornification of the culture. I think Love Island, encouraging people to have sex on mainstream telly, is grim. Naked attraction is a vile concept in all ways, so many naked game shows now. Cardi B’s WAP was not a banger, it was just out for notoriety, as is she. More and more films, comedies about the sex industry - sanitising it, tWo new ones with a Emma Thompson and Sally Philips ffs. Belle de Jour being played by glamorous Billie Piper. Promotion of sex work to skint students by universities.

I’m all for consenting adults to take part in whatever they choose, but why is it all over the TV? Why is kink part of a daytime parade? It’s not about people being gay and out there in couples, or kissing or PDA, it’s about things that should stay in private spaces, or public consenting ones (like your sex clubs) not out and about wearing leather fetish gear in front of children. (I also hate the penis paraphernalia of hen dos and vagina cakes at baby showers.)

Exactly. Extreme porn, choking, non-monogamy, kink at Pride, furries etc etc… it’s all about normalising dangerous/depraved sexual practices under the guise of queerness and rainbows.

It’s absolutely about quietly dismantling boundaries.

I mean even this promotional blurb for… luxury wank balm: “solo or group play”. Not couples, never couples. That’s vanilla.

The slow drip drip drip of normalising sex that was considered underground and freaky all of five minutes ago.
