I watched Sydney Watson's latest video (I know she is on a different side of politics to many in this thread. I personally appreciate her videos on topics like this as it is comforting to know I'm not the only one of my vintage with grave concerns. Her video is in the spoiler for anyone who wants to watch it) on sex reassignment surgery for children (what even is life anymore), she included a clip from a TED talk with an American doctor who, in a nutshell, wonders why - when children are given puberty blockers at an age where their reproductive organs will never mature - not remove said parts of anatomy because they'll never fulfil function.

It made me ponder: there is a link between hysterectomies and dementia, the likelihood of dementia increases substantially if the hysterectomy is performed before menopause.
What will be the result in, say, a decade, stretch it to two perhaps, of these young biological females who have gone through the procedure so early? Will there be a dramatic increase in incredibly early onset dementia? What health problems will they have before 30?

Sorry for the waffle-ish nature of the above, these thoughts have been churning in my head for hours.

Call me a cynic, but it almost feels like she was trolling by using that term.

She's pretty much going by the "there's no such thing as bad publicity" adage.
I guess I'm not sure why that would be considered trolling, given this is a women's health company. Why alienate your target audience? I certainly don't find it smart or amusing. It sounds like Stonewall crap to me.

I've never heard of the company and either way, regardless of it being trolling/an attempt at being amusing/genuinely just dehumanising women to "bleeders" - I'd avoid them.

One definition of 'bleeder' described as "informal British" is a person regarded with contempt or pity.

ETA

Collins define it as 'a despicable person' - and it is also used to describe a haemophiliac

This really isn't a left or right issue, it is a woman & children's issue (IMO) - I also appreciate her videos :)

The comments on the yoppie post are now over a thousand. Wonder when the CEO will reference it. I feel a bit sorry for her as her page doesn’t shy away from using the word women in their other posts. But to be called a bleeder, jeez. It needs to be called out. Just a shame no one has noticed other companies doing esp with the rise in popularity of eco period products these days. This type of language is everywhere.

"Pregnant people"

There is a new production of Legally Blonde at the Regent's Open Air Theatre this summer where they've gone for diverse casting which includes most of the cast as people of colour and a drag queen in a supporting female role (as one of Elle's sorority friends.) I very much support diverse casting especially as I myself am not white - but a drag queen isn't a woman. Why not just make one of the male roles gender nonconforming and cast him in that? I think it's a bit insulting to suggest this is somehow just as progressive as increased representation of Black and brown people in theatre

The way you increase diversity in film and theatre is by having new productions by minority writers, actors and producers, not by lazily shoehorning minorities into old productions. For example, I don’t want to see Elle Woods played by a black woman or a man. Elle Woods was a white female character. I want to see a new production about, say, a gay Indian man’s journey, or a new film written by a black working class woman.

Ah, but the problem with that is that it's HARD WORK to champion diversity in the way you describe, and almost effortless to pay lip service to diversity by rehashing well known productions with minority actors playing the lead roles 🤷‍♀️

The absolute state of this

I know Ancient Greeks got up to all sorts but I never knew men gave birth! Quick! Alert the archaeologists! They'll make a mint out of this discovery! Scratch that, I'll go and do some digging and make a mint and donate it to the cause of biological sex. That'll learn 'em!
Not sure why the woman, sorry man, sorry person, is depicted on a...shelf? A ledge? Doesn't look very safe either way.

The author should've said "since ancient times" seeing birthing chairs are plenteous in museums (if memory serves, they only fell out of fashion when doctors wanted women lying flat because it's a medical operation, amiright). There is Biblical reference to it, even. Exodus 1:16 (KJV): When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see them upon the stools
It sent me on a tangent as I knew I've seen a funeral relief for a midwife before (quick google found me it). I wonder what owners of the wordpress (Women in Antiquity) 'twas on would make of the 'fun fact', especially when one of the pages is dedicated to "Women and Misogyny in Ancient Greece Philosophy"
(...I may have studied some history 🙊 it's not obvious, is it? 🤐😅)

So the CEO of Yoppie says “I myself am a woman. But I understand many of our customers are not”. They are though. Whether they “identify” with the fact or not.

The only possible clientele of a period product company who isn’t a woman is an autogynephilic man with a menstruation fetish. Which is another thing altogether.

The trans moment is demonstrably racist whenever they equate feminism with not including black or trans women, as if neither are considered women, when women of colour are automatically included in feminism by being women. (I recognise that white feminists have been behind in acknowledging the intersection with race, but I don’t think that they have ever claimed they are not women.)

Realistically how MANY of her customers aren't women compared to the many who are? Ridiculous 🤦‍♀️
