I obviously can't speak for everyone, but when I go to see a dance performance, I honestly don't give a toss if the dancers are trans, non-binary, gay, straight, or closet Lib Dems. Why do they feel the need to announce it ALL THE TIME? And their announcements are always full of exaggerated flowery language, they're always "absolutely outraged", or "deeply offended", or "bitterly disappointed" etc, etc.
It's like there is literally nothing else going on in the world that could possibly compete with their despair at having to hear someone else's point of view
It’s seems obvious to me the link between the medicalisation of becoming transgender and the healthcare system in the US. It’s a money making scheme. This is where I think the whole ‘no debate’ mantra comes from and a jump straight to affirm. Because of the lifelong need for hormones and surgery. The insurance large cats don’t care about young people with gender dysphoria, it’s just a perfect opportunity to fleece people their entire lives. And now it’s swept all over the world. You would think the super woke US celebs who are all about trans rights would have come to this conclusion too

Of course, mental illness is a real condition, and yes, medication can help many people with this. But not everyone who is having a hard time, needs to be medicated. Feeling sad, or lonely, or a bit bleak during winter, is a normal part of the human condition. Yet it has somehow become something that is medicalised, and therefore must be treated with (often expensive) drugs.
I'm a middle-aged woman, and when I visited my GP, for a condition completely unrelated to menopause, he casually asked me if I was "on HRT yet". I've never sought medical advice about any menopausal symptoms, why would he assume that I needed it? Would I get it if I just asked for it? Do male doctors just assume that all women should be on it, and if so, why? I'm lucky enough to not need it, and I work in healthcare so I'm quite well-informed about the pros and cons, but how many women are using powerful hormonal drugs when they don't really need to?

I agree that personally if a culture or religion holds something in high regard, then this should be respected, but....it often isnt!
And hasnt been for hundreds of years. Think of language and swearing. Words , like bloody, as an abbreviation for, by your lady, (virgin Mary) that would have been highly offensive a hundred years ago, are now acceptable, and used on TV and in films!
And its also often used in popular culture for a specific reason, eg Madonna and her use of crucifixes for decoration in her videos and fashion, or even hitler and the Nazis and the swastika! Thats a hindu symbol, whose use has been totally hijacked!
Sometimes its designed to cause offense, thinking of marilyn manson et al, but just becomes part of everyday culture!
Then again, Im not sure throwing coloured powder paint around is just because of Holi, I think its also because its now much more readily available. it was used in adverts to create effects etc before being used at festivals, so im not sure there is a direct link.
I dont completely know what is and what isnt offensive to different religions, so it can get tricky!
And, If I am being completely honest, I do get fed up that the Christian religious festival that is symbolised by Christmas, (even though I know it has massive pagan roots,) has ended up as this atheist commercial spend fest. That is cultural mis appropriation on a massive scale.
But virtually no one mentions this!
And St Patrick's Day is celebrated the world over, hell it's practically a bigger deal in the States than over here. Again, something that is Irish and came from Christianity but you don't see me going on about cultural appropriation

I thought Id mention this one, about a trans person being fed up of their genitals always being brought up!
Because as a woman growing up, I was fed up with so many men seeing women as a sex object, and assuming they had the right to comment on my boobs and bum .
So its kinda double ironic that a trans person is upset about being percieved as a woman, and complaining about being treated as a woman, who has spent almost their entire lives being perceived as a sex object by men!
I dont think many women or girls would be unaware of how many men do get obsessed by their genitals and secondary sex characteristics! Of course its correct to challenge this, but..... it does kind of go with the territory, the downside of being female and seen as secondary to men!
I read the article and basically she says that if she agreed to a date or something with someone she would tell them beforehand. What she is not going to do is tell a guy right away if he starts chatting her up in a club or such in case there is a reaction. Now that bit I can understand and agree with her reasoning.
Totally agree. The headline is misleading. Nobody is obligated to tell some bloke in a club anything just because he chats them up.
