”People presumed female at birth”. FFS, when did the world become so stupid. Plus, it’s ALWAYS women that have to make way for men claiming to be us. Said it before but if the trans issue was predominantly the other way round ( as in “trans men are men”) and it was men that were being forced to be inconvenienced and give up their rights, the trans movement would never have got hold the way it has.

Well I was presumed to be female at birth since I was born with a vulva and tina, but I have the intersex variation CAIS which means I have xy chromosomes which you'd probably say makes me a man. Is my risk of dementia that of a woman since I've never had active male hormones in my body or that of a man due to my chromosomes? Nobody knows.
The charity is right, in my opinion, that there isn't enough research on medicine/illness for people with differences like intersex variations. For example, trying to work out what my chances of breast cancer are and whether I should start my routine mammograms was a nightmare because most doctors had no idea and it took ages to find one who researched and did some critical thinking and gave me something close to a risk analysis, that is easily sourced for typically developed women and men. We're such a minority that medicine mainly ignores us which I suppose is understandable but it makes getting good medical care very tricky.
I don't know about their other policies, but thumbs up to Action Aid for an advert about period products in refugee camps that talks about the only people who need them: women and girls.

Apologies if this has already been posted. I haven't watched it yet, but it looks interesting.
I’m livid. I’ve just had my teen son’s school report sent to me and he has been they/them’d throughout (apart from one subject). Even teachers who have referred to him by name (an unambiguous boy’s name) have used bleeping they/them pronouns. It’s parents’ evening at the end of the week and I shall be saying exactly what I think about that and God help me if they go on about gender identity tit.
I think this is more likely to be because teachers hate filling in reports and will be copy and pasting from another document which they have made gender neutral. I'm sure my art teacher had no idea who I was when I went to my year 8 parents evening!
I’m hoping this is the benign explanation. Lazy of them though if that’s the case. My others sons went to a different school many times bigger and teachers there never once used anything other than third person singular pronouns.
It's very impersonal sounding isn't it? Plural third person pronouns are by definition used when you don't know the person and thus don't know their sex. I'd be utterly baffled if anyone who knew me referred to me as "they". Am I multiples?
Yeah, I’m pretty sure this will be it. They’re always C&P-ed. One year a few other parents & I compared the ones we’d received: they were all identical bar a handful of sentences!

Yeah that's exactly what it is. They have a set of phrases they will copy and paste into each report and from other reports so use they/them to be able to use them for each child wirhout needing to edit anything. We do the same and I fly off the handle when I see it. I will always innocently point out "oh they identify as non binary? You've not mentioned that in the assessment" and then inevitably the staff member says the person doesn’t and I have a go at them for lazy copy and pasting without editing it. How can I be sure that this report is accurate when I know you have just lazily pasted any old tit into it.
It's not even effort to replace it with the correct pronouns. Find and replace they with he, their with his and them with him. I actually couldn't put my name to some copy and pasted rit and I'm not exactly the most conscientious employee in the world.
Same and im not above cutting some corners if appropriate. When you are talking about risk assessments or medical assessments, you need to be sure that everything is definitely rederring to that person. Pasting across from someone else or a central copy is unacceptable in my view as you can so easily paste info that isn't relevant because you forgot to delete it. As soon as I see 'they' I automatically assume the report is going to be possibly inaccurate at best, dangerously wrong at the worst.
In my job I find it easier to just do the work than copy and paste and piss about checking and amending it!
