I think the mum was trying to use the "correct" pronouns and stuff but did say it was very hard when you've known someone by a certain name for so many years.I didn't see that, but it's very interesting that the police ran with 'him' independently of what the missing girl's family said. It's very worrying. I mean, I know that more often than not there will be good reason for the police to take a different tack to that of other parties close to a victim, but this just goes to show how captured our public services actually are.
There was a bit where the person they suspected says that she told him she was called Emma rather than the male name she was going by and it looks like they'd been in a relationship. So she clearly wasn't 100% on her male persona. She was clearly a very troubled and vulnerable young woman. They found her at the end but I don't think I'd say she was safe.
