Just reading the NYT article about the IOC new policy and this quote jumped out at me. Am I misstaken or doesn't this do the opposite, if someones passed the test then there is no suspicion.

" Payoshni Mitra, executive director at Humans of Sport, a group that has focused on the issue, was critical of the new Olympic policy. “This kind of brutal language doesn’t protect sports — it polices women’s bodies,” she said in a statement to The New York Times. “It fuels suspicion, invites public scrutiny and puts already vulnerable athletes at risk.”" https://archive.ph/WRmUo
Does she also object to dope testing, which - by her logic - must also police women's bodies? I believe this test is far more intrusive and restrictive - athletes must be readily available and are subjected to random testing, even at home. By comparison, a once-in-a-lifetime cheek swab is nothing.

It removes both suspicion and public scrutiny, because we no longer doubt if any of the females are really male. And it ensures that women aren't vulnerable when they participate in their sport, because they're not at risk of being injured by a man.

I wonder if she's actually referring to the men who will be excluded?

Well yes and this is the other thing I don't get - why her male detractors seem to keen to decry the Harry Potter series as little kids' books.

The series is a complex Bildungsroman which explores moral liminality, the responsibilities of adulthood, the perils of moral certainty, the self-sacrifice of leadership, our responsibilities to the weak and vulnerable, and the pain and ultimately the triumph of self-actualisation.

It's a kids series in the same way that Lord of the Rings or The Odyssey are kids' books. That's to say, it has a universal appeal because it explores deep Jungian themes, not because it's simple or childlike.

TBH tho, the trans movement privileges malignant narcissism and the pursuit of cheap pleasure over social, familial and ethical responsibility, so in that sense it's not a surprise that the challenging but important themes in Harry Potter make them feel uncomfortable.
The automatic assumption that men’s activities and achievements are superior. See also that men do ART and women do crafts. Only one is studied for its history and importance whereas women can create a 3D garment out of a piece of string and a stick. (I know men knit too thanks to Tom Daley)

Why the Brontë sisters assumed male names. Why there are several notable Nobel winners who should have shared their prizes with their female co-workers and did not.

Every single male author who thinks they could have written HP in their sleep resents her.

I’m in two minds about Glinner. The man has lost everything, and it’s had a massive effect on his mental health. He’s also quite obviously neurodivergent, to my eyes, which goes some way to explaining why he often takes things too far, and makes social clangers like begging JKR to like him. It’s cringey, and he’s frequently unlikeable, but that’s true of a lot of ND people (myself included 😅).

I absolutely detest Fry and his fake humility and desperate clawing for status of an intellectual but mainly because of his hatred of women. Makes me want to punch his bent nose back into shape.

I found this on another social media site discussing drag queens. Kevin’s (nursing home deputy manager) drag alter ego is called ‘Nursina’ 🤮. I know it’s the same bloke cause he put a photo of himself on there and used his own name . He’s a common or garden AGP by the sounds of it. I’m sure those who employed him must have researched him and thought all this was fine and dandy.

What you need to know
  • Rape Crisis was told by SNP ministers to abandon a campaign because Alex Salmond’s sexual assault court case was coming up
  • An academic was forced to stand down from a charity because she feared the SNP would cut off funds if the party became aware of her views on gender
  • The SNP ploughed millions of pounds into drug charities that would support its controversial policies, such as “fix rooms”
  • Alcohol charities which relied on the SNP for the majority of their funding acted as “the Praetorian Guard of the SNP” over the party’s key policy: minimum unit pricing for alcohol

To the girl guiding changes. For me the worry was largely about the adults involved in pushing the trans kids exist and trans women are women narrative. I worried that AGPs would try to be leaders for their own thrills. I worried about the little boys being transed and signed up who now are facing rejection in a way they will only see as (and be told is) personally unfair and hurtful. I worried about the TRAs who joined or signed up their kid only with the purpose of proving a point. Mostly I worried about the girls themselves- not having a safe single sex group to enjoy, being forced to “be kind” and accommodating to men’s wishes because that’s how girls should be 🙄, getting indoctrinated to become allies handmaidens, and now being held up to public scrutiny in ways that have almost broken adult women never mind little girls/young women. Now reading comments here I realise I had forgotten to worry also about the leaders (who are volunteers mind!) being put in such an invidious position. Worry, stress, hurt, gaslighting- business as usual for this troublesome, misogynistic, very vocal minority. I might add also that I’ve been so disappointed when I’ve looked at reactions to posts and seen the majority of the angry and sad emojis are from biological women! I do get suspicious (from my own bias admittedly) that some of the men reacting and commenting favourably are of the “we hate woke liberals and gays” variety, which reflects badly on us TERFs and lumps us in with these homophobic attitudes. I’ll stop there because my post is very long, but anyway, that’s my thoughts on it! Edited to add 4 words!

We should have the option to opt into AI, rather than it be the default for every search. Like I don't need AI to drain an ocean when I search 'why wasn't Hamlet made king when his father died' like happened this morning.

Also, regarding that cretin who gets euphoria by tricking his mother with dementia - if he's that sick to enjoy that I wouldn't be surprised if he's rummaging through her underwear drawers and jewellery box while she's in care  if it means that much to him that he doesn't have the self control to stop telling his mother he's a woman then I bet he's a creep in other aspects.

🇮🇪 The Examiner today

The general gist centred on a belief that some, if not many, who change their gender from male to female are liable to use entry to facilities like single sex bathrooms to prey on women. There is a dispute over the incidence of any such occurrence, but, as is standard for today’s world, a single or perceived incident can easily be blown up into a phenomenon if it fits neatly into an agenda.

Mick Clifford: Gender discourse pays scant regard to those it most directly impacts
It doesn't matter that "there is dispute over the incidence of such occurrence" does it? Women are allowed to say we don't want males in our spaces. And we shouldn't have to explain that this is: because there might be a risk of such an occurrence; for religious reasons; because some women have been subject to abuse; because women deal with messy biology or any of the other multiple reasons. We don't want them there. Those spaces are not for them, they are for us. And if just one single woman doesn't agree to it, it's a no. Because consent isn't transferable.
Sick of the fucking hand wringing on this. Just stay out.

Don't know if this is a new thing but just came across my socials.

Since when is she able to speak into this sort of thing? That little photo in the corner is gross, that looks like a man, surely it can't be good for a baby? View attachment 3935513
Oh ffs. Isn't it bad enough that women have had to have parts of their bodies for ever described as ' the birth canal' as though that is its only purpose and she is just a vehicle.

If you are feeding a child, you are breast feeding. You can call yourself what you want (🙄) but pregnancy, childbirth and breast feeding are the most feminine things you can do. If you dont identify as female but want to do all of that, just deal with it.

Perfect thanks. I kept it simple. If other’s want to complain too then feel free to use this!

This article fails to inform its readers that the perpetrator of the mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, Jesse Van Rootselaar, was a biological male who identified as female, as confirmed in previous articles. The use of she/her pronouns when referring to Van Rootselaar leads the reader to believe he is female. This is not factual and also demonstrates the BBC’s continued failure to remain impartial on news items relating to trans identified individuals.

Oh dear. I always thought Sophie Ellis Bextor seemed quite sensible. ☹
Apparently not. This is from 6 years ago

The singer is an outspoken advocate for LGBT+ rights and has five children, all of whom were born male.

“I’m not really bothered about what [gender identity] they choose – I just want them to feel like they have choice,” Ellis-Bextor told The Guardian.

Generally speaking, though, Ellis-Bextor believes society is much better at understanding “the spectrum of gender”.

“We’ve got to get to a point where we can have their voices heard,” she added.

“But the main point is about just making sure that, socially and economically, [trans people] are supported in the right way.”

She has 5 boys. The cynic in me is questioning whether she is gearing up to trans one of them.

I don't have much time for Ben Houchen but an interesting announcement just days after the vote in Darlington. Comments overwhelming in favour, apart from the usual "but my toilet is unisex".
It's such an imbecilic attempt at a 'gotcha'. No one has an open-door policy whereby any random member of society is able to use their toilet, and your home toilet is a single-person room that locks from the inside.

I've been spied on by a man over the top of a cubicle in a publicly accessible toilet. Amazingly, this has never happened to me in my own home.
