I'm so sick of this that any kind of boundary is somehow violating human rights. There is no right to play elite sports and also there is still an open division.

In that article as well one of them claims it violates " dignity, privacy, and bodily autonomy ", I would argue then that having to pee in front of someone does the same. The sex test sounds way less invasive, a once in a lifetime cheek swab.

I saw a comment on reddit saying that they're not sex testing the men, like what on earth would you be testing for, if they were aliens?

They can't even make up their minds like first they say testing needs to be targeted and individualised and then later on that speculation about sex is more detrimental to women of colour due to their appearance. Like which is it, are they advocating testing everyone or singling people out?

TRANSGENDER girls will be forced to leave the Girl Guides by September 6 under a new rule change.

The organisation has said, after its announcement in December, that membership would be “restricted to girls and young women”.

Girlguiding added that volunteers in female-only roles must also switch to positions open to both men and women by early September.

The change was in response to last year’s Supreme Court ruling on sex and gender, it added.

Girlguiding hopes the time will allow “affected members and their families time to plan, prepare, access support, and decide when – between now and September – they feel ready to leave.”

A spokesperson for the charity added: “Following the Supreme Court decision last year relating to sex and gender, Girlguiding’s board of trustees confirmed that trans girls and young women, from December 2 2025, would no longer be able to join Girlguiding.

“This decision was made to make sure we were operating lawfully and follow our governing charity documents, which affect how our membership eligibility is defined.

“Today, Girlguiding shared further operational information with our members about the timings for this change.

“The update explained that current young members who are trans girls can stay with Girlguiding until September 6 2026.

“This allows affected members and their families time to plan, prepare, access support, and decide when – between now and September – they feel ready to leave.

“Any trans girl or trans woman who is currently volunteering in a role open to women only will need to move to a role that is open to all volunteers by September 6 2026.”

Chairman of Girlguiding trustees Denise Wilson, Felicity Oswald, its chief executive, and chief guide Tracy Foster, previously said in a joint statement: “Girlguiding has reached the difficult decision that going forward membership of Girlguiding will be restricted to girls and young women, as defined in the Equality Act (2010).

“From today (Dec 2), trans girls and young women, and others not recorded female at birth, will no longer be able to join Girlguiding as new young members.”

Members of Girlguiding range from four to 18 and there are around 300,000 youngsters who participate either with Rainbows, Brownies, Guides or Rangers groups.

Around 80,000 volunteers oversee and run the different branches.

It’s not surprising given all the stuff we are exposed to on this thread, the injustices against women thread and other media. However, I have to remind myself that these are just the worst examples of men in society. There are plenty of decent men (partners/relatives/friends) around too, including on this thread.

If I'm gonna watch somehting it'll be a film from the 90s or earlier, or some classic TV like Prime Suspect, where plots and characters could unfold in an interesting and natural way which felt human and not.....soviet.

Same here. I watch older stuff. Heartbeat, All Creatures Great and Small (the original one), Agatha Christie's Poirot and Miss Marple stories, and suchlike. It's comfort viewing, and I can rely on nothing horrible or disgusting, appearing on it.

Andrew Garfield has been a complete wally for a while. He said once that he was a gay man "without the physical act," in yet another bit of evidence that actors should only speak lines written for them.

I really wonder about the likes of him and Olivia Colman and how their thinking become so warped becuase there's the echo chamber aspect of their profression, yes, but there are still plenty of people in these industries that don't take it anywhere near as far as they do with spouting off the most nonsense crap you'll ever hear.

You’re not alone. My kids are autistic, I am clearly autistic, my mum has a lot of traits, as did my grandfather before her. Four generations, only my kids officially diagnosed.

This week I’ve seen a lot of maliciously gleeful comments about how the only REAL autism is profound autism, and anyone else is either a faker or a malingerer, essentially.

Well excuse me if I didn’t personally ask for Asperger’s (formerly a separate and very distinct category) to be lumped in under the umbrella term ASD. And spare me the “Asperger was a Nazi” stuff. That should have paid no part in erasing a very real profile of autism. Rename it if you like, just don’t erase it, because erasing it doesn’t mean these people don’t exist (and continue to be born!)

According to the likes of Dr Ute, any woman who managed to evade getting diagnosed well into adulthood never needed a diagnosis, because if you can present yourself well enough to fly under the radar, you can’t be on the spectrum. This is crazy to me. Dr Ute clearly has very little idea of how blatant my autistic traits have always been, right back to very early childhood. The fact it was never recognised is no fault of mine.

My son is autistic. He was clearly autistic from a very young age and was (and still is) very much not like the other kids. He‘s always been in mainstream and has been on the SEN register since reception. Waiting lists meant he didn’t get a DX until he was in year 6 tho. He has had DLA since he was 8 and now gets PIP. He’s academically clever but can’t plan anything, can’t tie his shoelaces, read a clock or understand implications of anything. Social anxiety is a tiny, tiny part of his disability.

I had this discussion with some friends yesterday who are all really angry about Uta Frith (although they’re not calling her a nazi). They‘ve dismissed her as an old woman who is behind the curve. I think this is patronising and hugely reductive. We need to be able to have a conversation.

Some of my friends‘ kids don’t go to school but go to massive gigs, parties, raves and pretty much seem like normal teenagers except for the fact they are too anxious to go to school. I don’t believe they’re autistic. I think they’re just playing their parents and the system.

There are huge numbers of people who are self identifying as autistic when they’re not. They’re just a bit boring/odd/not popular at school.

If the breadth of a DX is so broad then it really undermines people who really do struggle. And my heart goes out to you and @Mismatched Pegs
