I think the Wachowski siblings.....the directors and creative force behind the Matrix films, are an interesting starting point re Trans becoming such a popular topic in the media..... Fantasy becoming reality... From 2012

I'm totally against the Burqa after an experience in Austria. Seeing all the Women covered from head to toe in black in 80+ degrees while the Men wore normal Summer clothing of shorts and T shirts and then having the Men hanging over the railings looking at the Public swimming pool full off topless Women while their wives stood next to them sickened me and told me all I need to know about how Women are viewed in an Islamic culture.
Ban it. As for the UK being tolerant, the problem with tolerance is that the intolerant can do what they want with impunity.

Yep. The trouble with tolerance is that it can very easily slide into license, and then, as you say, unpleasant elements of society do as they like and claim it is freedom of choice, and there is no comeback.

Follow the money is an interesting idea.....

Sorry I cant find it in the Wiki, someone did put some links to medical/pharma showing how much money the pharma companies were spending and earning from Trans medications, from the hormones initially prescribed, through to ''life saving'' medical intervention, where people who thought they were trans were encouraged to quickly have sex change operations in the US and pay for the privilege from medical insurances or crowdfunding or privately etc. Maybe this is why so many media figures have trans relatives, as they can afford to pay for this....so its a bit of a status symbol, an odd one....but ....???

So maybe we need a section in the wiki on US pharma?
Jennifer Bilek is a US journalist

ETA Ireland has a problem with pharma cos supporting trans ideology. Abbvie make Lupron, support gaelic football clubs and sponsored an LGBT climb up Croagh Patrick. The Irish minister for Education is married to a director of Abbvie - trans is promoted in our schools.

Stryker med devices had a recruitment poster which implied that only LGBT people were welcome.

I’m increasingly intolerant of men in general these days. Everything about our lives is conditioning to stay small, be pretty, compete for a man, stay in your lane, produce kids, work outside the home and do everything inside too, see other women as competition and be a general skivvy. Men have the ultimate power as they have their physical strength but I’d prefer to avoid them. Yes, I guess women’s rights have come a long way in developed countries but they under serious threat and women in most other countries have pitiful lives. It’s so hard to stay positive sometimes.

Stay here and equip yourself with information to help your sister. At 14 she may be scared of how her body is changing and want it to stop or she may be getting unwanted attention she wants to avoid and thinks this is the answer. You are right, she needs someone on her side as the internet will just give misinformation and promise quick fixes that lead to massive harm.
I'm not sure if I'm going to word this right so that I get my point across and also don't offend anyone, but it's alarming how many teen girls, often with autism, mild intellectual disability or some other disorder, want to be non-binary.
They need to be reassured that they don't HAVE to look, feel, dress or act feminine.
It's okay... and it might also be only temporary.
Additionally, being attracted to another female, or maybe not having those kind of feelings is also 100% okay.
Not "feely girly" does NOT make you any less female. Stop reaching for the non-binary umbrella as a cover.
You are female through and through, quite literally. Stop prescribing to stereotypes and most importantly stop scrolling the internet and finding things that A) make you feel bad about yourself, your feelings and your appearance, and B) try to convince you that you're some mythical non-female entity

Completely agree. A colleague of mine has a daughter who apparently isn't sure if she is a girl or not. My heart breaks for these girls who are being taught that just because they don't fit gender sterotypes they have been born into the wrong body.

It’s no wonder with what’s pushed in our faces from social media. Needing to be picture ready at all times and posting about living your best life.

Does the phenomenon of gender reveal parties link with the rise of non-binary/trans? Were they always a thing in America then came to the UK more recently? Pink side or blue side then looking back and being able to see if your parents were truly happy with the “reveal”

I can’t imagine going through the weird duckling phase of puberty and everyone having a device to take photos/video to document every stupid decision you make. Does the non-binary tag shield you in some way?

And now the beauty market is pushing unnecessary skincare routines on children-I despair! I don’t use TikTok but know of girls who are hypnotised by the videos of learning age inappropriate dance routines or requesting expensive products that will more likely damage their beautiful skin and enhance it.

Sorry for the rambling rhetoric questions, but I feel like the non-binary in girls is push back from the gender stereotypes that are back with vengeance. There was a sweet spot a few years ago when being gay was fine, girls can like blue and football and boys could like pink and princesses.

I remember how I dressed at uni, baggy jeans, college sweater, trainers, hair under a baseball cap. I was friends with lots of boys, but I never thought I was one. 90s did mean you could be a tomboy without having to label yourself.

All the girls at my kids school have long hair, none of them want to have short hair like a boy.

Can't believe we spent years trying to get rid of pink and blue toy shop aisles and now they are back with added frills and hair clips.

What is it with these men and their skinwalking? Envy/jealousy/hate/lack of confidence/Oedipus complex/can't find a partner/mental contagion...or what??? Weirdos, each and every one.

bleeping sick of the lot of them.
NO ONE IS BORN IN THE WRONG BODY!!!

This is really what sickens me about the times we live in. In the past no girl would ever have said those words, because everyone understood that being a girl was based on biology. Yes, gender non-conforming girls still might have had a hard time fitting in, but there simply wasn’t a cultural landscape in which “I’m not sure if I’m a girl or not” could have even been said.

Oh you are singing from the same hymn sheet as me @petitspois. I have a perfectly lovely husband, 2 great sons and other really good men in my life, but these days I could imagine a world without men quite happily. Every day there are more and more stories about women and girls suffering all manner of injustices, it just never seems to get any better. My super intelligent (first class Masters degree) beautiful kind niece is trying to extricate herself from a disastrous relationship (joint property owners) and her vastly inferior in every way ex, today emailed her to say he'd had enough of her disrespect!!!!! If you knew the back story you would weep. He isn't fit to lick her shoes and yet thinks it's perfectly reasonable to accuse her of disrespecting him. Telling you I want to cave his head in with a mallet for all he's put her through.

I hope she gets away from him as easily as possible.
What is it with men and their demands for respect? I was listening to an interview with a criminologist and he said the vast majority of the prison population are working class men who have been violent because they felt disrespected. Madness.

When I was growing up (70/80s) we were called Tom boys. I wanted to play football with my poor brother and his mates. Climbing trees was fun and friends were boys and girls. Puberty I considered as unfair as boys seemed to have it easier. I didn't want breasts and bras. I didn't want to wear make-up it didn't interest me but also for animal testing reasons. I can honestly say at no point did I think I was in the wrong body I was just me. Luckily there was no trans balls back then. I feel sorry for kids these days having their heads filled with this rubbish. Stop trying to turn them all into clones we're all unique. Thank goodness.

Just seen this. This is what Webberley thinks is right. Doing this to children who cannot possibly understand the extreme damage that she is causing, ruining lives. The woman is evil, she deserves to be locked up for life.

I was walking past Westminster literally last week, and walked past a girl who couldn’t have been older than 10 with the full covering with only her eyes showing. Honestly she was tiny, walking along holding hands with her (I assume) mum. It broke my heart.

I’ve been wanting to bring it up but am also anxious about being hysterical. It really, really worries me. I tried talking about this to someone who is Zack Polanski pilled recently (I hadn’t seen the little girl at this point, I was just talking to her about people’s concerns about their communities completely transforming and being really opposed to what the burqa/niqab represents).

We were at least able to have the discussion, but she was very resistant to what I was saying. I had to keep bringing her back to the specific points I was talking about - communities changing and the burqa/niqab as she kept bringing up random things like “some people are always going to be racist”, “people just say ‘I don’t want halal on my dominoes”, “some women choose to wear it as a sign of devotion to their religion”, “people only say these things because they’re uneducated”, “people are being tricked into thinking immigration is the problem when we have soooooo many more things we should be worried about like BiLlIoNnAiReS” (I suspect this is how she feels about trans stuff as well - I was getting so bloody annoyed because she was trotting out all the same facile non-arguments we’ve all heard before, she wasn’t actually engaging her brain the way I know she can - yet no doubt she thinks I’m the stupid, outdated one).

I got the sense that she left that conversation truly believing she had ‘won’ whereas I just felt depressed. She’s abandoning truth for ideology, as have the rest of my friends. I might even have to end things with my therapist this week because she keeps saying bull like “words have no meaning” and there is no objective truth”, which makes me suspect that she’s, perhaps unwittingly, been influenced by all this postmodern bull, when our framework is psychodynamic so it really shouldn’t be that hard for her to affirm that the things happening around me are real for duck sake. It’s all really scary.

Not sure where else to go with this info/my opinion 😬 but my 14 year old sister has recently told us that she might be trans, wants to be called Jay, has been ordered a binder from her guardians (long story short she's in residential care) and I just don't get it. I don't understand. I'll be here for her as her sister but I do feel that unlimited access to the internet and lack of close friends and family hasn't helped.
You've come to the right place ❤

I've been going through something similar with my 14y daughter. She first told us a year ago she was trans but now she's plumped for gender-fluid or gender neutral.
It was quite a shock at first but the Transgender trend site was really helpful. Their advice was to basically support the young person but not to directly affirm them as the opposite sex. They said that a lot of gender questioning young people will grow out of it as they go through puberty but that it's important not to let them make non-reversible decisions as it's harder for them to detransition.

So I listened to her how she felt but I didn't use incorrect pronouns (I've deliberately tried to refer to her by her name or use 'you' when talking to her) and didn't 'affirm' her 'male' identity. She thankfully didn't want a binder and was ok with a plain sports bra. It helped that she's very slight of build so she can technically get away without wearing a bra. I let her pick boys or gender neutral clothing and didn't make too much of it.

In recent months though, she has started dressing more alternative/goth and she seems a little more comfortable in herself. It's not been easy mind you but things are a bit less fraught and when she's upset now it's more likely to be due to something other than changing her gender identity.

It's so hard being a teenage girl now. The norm is to have long, long straight hair, wear cropped tops and your only purpose seems to be to look attractive and be attracted to boys. If you don't want to look like that, or want to avoid being sexualised by your male peers or even you are gay, you can start to think there's something wrong with you and 'opting out of being a girl' can be seen as an viable alternative.

Not suggesting that any of this will be for useful in your sister's situation but you obviously love and care about her so the best you can do is just be there for her. And we will be here to support you

A therapist's role is literally to encourage people to talk and learn to identify and come to terms with the truth. They do this by listening to what the client says and thinks and reflecting those words and thoughts (thoughts which are, of course, expressed in words) back to them to help them reflect ont heir experiences, actions and thought processes.

If "words have no meaning" and there is "no objective truth", how can they possibly do their job? In fact - how can they even believe they have a job?
