I live on my own he doesn’t live with me. I owe him nothing, everything is mine we’ve only been together for 5 months but his true colours are creeping in and he just bosses me round and makes me out to be a crap person but I know I am not. Yeah I moan and stuff but I’m good to him. He’s not half as bad as some of these stories here he’s just showing a bit of his true colours in terms of the blaming me and stuff x
Good to hear you already have your own place - imagine if a friend of yours had the same problem with their partner, how would you talk to them about it? Nobody deserves to be made to feel crap and be blamed for things that you definitely haven't done. ♥

Yeah like i know it isnt right - i said to him we cant move forward if he doesnt ever think he is in the wrong. He did admit to some things last night and apologise but then he just storms off i just cant handle it. He has also kept telling me he cant book a weekend away with me yet because he dont know his rota for work yet found out last night he has booked to go away for 3 nights with his mates so.
I think deep down you know the answers. His not thinking of you or your relationship his thinking of himself.
I know its easier said than done and if you dont want to end the relationship have you considered going on a break.
This may help your emotional wellbeing and also make you ask yourself is it what you really want.

yea definitely! It’s like they can do anything they want but we can’t do anything! Typical haha. Definitely a lucky escape! It’s just mad how quick people move on isn’t it! X
I once had someone who I’ve known for over 10 years who I thought was my best friend, confess his undying love for me that he’d loved me since we were 10 and how he could cure my mental health issues (lmao) and that if he kept doing the thing that made me uncomfortable and was triggering (I have PTSD) that I would get better. Literally a week later he had a girlfriend. I realised that he’d actually just stuck around as my friend for all these years on the off chance that I liked him or would like him.

block him and move on. They ain’t worth it.

Looking back I was gaslighted by my ex - he would shout at me & tell me to get a grip if I was crying due to my MH, said he didn't like people who cry. Yet when he got upset about something and I would comfort him it was fine for him to show his emotions. So I would challenge it and he would go 'I would never say that to you' Cue me having to watch my emotions around him or bite my tongue. We were together for 4 years and I never felt he wanted to commit - we went on holidays together, weddings/family occasions but then some weekends he would need time alone 'with the lads' so I was often left feeling confused!

I know youre right, youre all right its just hard. Even though it hasnt been long I am just sick of starting again with guys. And i suppose because everything was so great before I keep thinking of that. Dont get me wrong I am not innocent and I do my fair share of moaning/getting angry etc but he does drive me to it a lot of the time.
Yes it was great before because he love bombed you thats what they do to hook you in give you whats really an artificial high which if you stay with him you will spend the rest of the relationship trying to get back.
Which you will get in dribs and drabs just to keep you sweet but trust me with every high comes a low.
Just like with drugs you are hooked you need supply you will make the demand and he will just pull your strings and control you.
Get out now before its too late otherwise you will live to regret it (i know i've been there and its gradually soul destroying).
So good luck and put it this way its good you have doubts because i fell hook line and sinker you seem more wise you'll be so glad you listened to that inner voice later down the line trust me.

it’s having a massive effect on my mental health etc. I am an emotional person and quite an anxious person anyway so all this just makes me 10x worse. He keeps saying he will only reply to me if I’m nice etc but I am nice. I’m just never allowed to say anything that calls him out on his behaviour. I know I need to get out but I feel like I can’t because I don’t want to but deep down I know I need to if that makes sense. I feel so weak x
Have you sort help from anyone or spoke to anyone else about how you feel?
Your not weak .... can you see a happy future with him? Are you worried about being on your own?

Be proud of yourself knowing that you dont rely on him. He sounds just like my ex was with the continued threats- its emotional abuse. Can you not cut all contact with him and have someone else deal with him seeing your child.
It's really no surprise to have anxiety when you are treated the way you are.
Put you and your child first.
Thank you. I am proud of myself as I've overcome a lot. I had a stroke a few years ago whilst I was with him, I was only 26, I recovered from that so I'll recover from this. My parents despise him so getting them to liaise with him instead would turn in to world war 3 and his parents are no longer around so I have to deal with him by myself unfortunately.

I am 100% being gaslighted by my mother. She uses the fact that she will call important things for me because of my anxiety by saying if I don’t do this, not talk to this person (or if I do it’s hell for me at home) etc etc she will leave me high and dry (not money wise I have a lot more money than her but in terms of helping me with things I struggle with because of anxiety! I pay £500 a month to her to have the pleasure of living this hell and my MH getting worse than it ever was. She tells me I’ve taken stuff, tells me what I think and what I’m texting my brothers (she HATES us as it is but she LOATTTTTHS to see us all get on) and I won’t function without her. I moved home two years ago to help her through a 20 year relationship break up but now she’s ok she’s worse than ever. I can’t escape it either because since I moved back I have got two dogs and it’s hard to find somewhere that accepts dogs. Sorry you’re dealing with it xxx
Do you get support for your anxiety? She’s using your vulnerabilities to her advantage. I know it’s far easier said than done but those things that make you anxious are things that you need to start facing gradually yourself (I’m a MH professional), if you have any questions please ask xx

From my experience, and I know it's not all men, but I have noticed some men do try and 'move on' quickly, straight onto the next woman so to speak. The rebound relationship tends to crash though (..and then they come sniffing back around).

One of my ex boyfriends told me he loved me on the Saturday, dumped me on the Sunday, was with a new woman a few days after that. It's something I'll never really understand.
I don't have any advice, just stay strong and you'll get through it.
Yes this is what i thought - Like he was messaging me saying he loves me, misses me, Im his beautiful girl etc and then next thing i know a week and a half he is seeing someone else - I mentioned it and he said he had seen me liking guys pics on instagram and posting selfies of myself (which i always do anyway) so thats why he has gone out and dated someone else. So seems to me he did it out of spite but maybe he is happy cos as far as I know he is still dating her. Although I knew the relationship wasnt right it is still a massive kick in the teeth as I honestly didnt think he would move on so quickly. Deep down I dont think he is happy and I think he has done it to fill a void but who knows. Its just a kick in the teeth though isnt it.

Your not a burden.. if they are real friends they will be there for you. I lost so many friends after I left my ex I dont think they knew what to say to me.
His actions last night speak volumes about how he views things. He sounds far too controlling and is being emotionally abusive.
Has this changed your mind about the relationship?

It sounds like you have had it extremely tough the last few years. But you have shown how resilient you are.
My parents also hate my ex but my dad drops my son off and collects him ( He doesnt want to but this was decided in court) I have no contact at all as I have a restraining order and my current boyfriend writes emails etc.
Is there anybody who will help you. Due to the abuse my ex has limited access. Do you have set times etc so apart from dealing with him once a week you have no other contact?

He did try to come back to me but i tried to stay strong. He told me he loved me in one of the messages and then a week and a half later he is on a date with/seeing someone else. Typical traits thought isnt it! Did set me back a bit but I know I need to be strong.

Anyone got any experiences of guys rebounding really quck?

Thing is with gaslighting is that it’s a way of controlling you that’s always designed for you to be unaware of it for as long as possible so he can have absolute control. You’re awake to it now but until you cut contact he is always going to try for that control.
The best advice I got was to stop all contact. Don’t allow it in your life. And to not wait for an apology because you either won’t get one or it will just be a way of trying to creep back into your life/ to make them feel better rather than to give you closure.

Spend some time being you and healing from this- figure out what you want outside of being under control. It’s hard but 100% worth it.
Yes thanks great advice - I did cut all contact and we had zero for weeks - and then he messaged/rang, yes I shouldnt have replied but I did. I have got quite a lot of apologies but as you say it is literally just to make himself feel better in my opinion. Youre right it is very hard, easier said than done but I did it and i was fine its just since he has creeped back I have struggled a bit. x

OP I’m glad you are out of that relationship now. From reading your subsequent posts, I think you would benefit from some counselling. You will find someone but I think you need to work on your own self confidence. Being single can be very empowering and you learn a lot about yourself. Don’t settle for any less than you deserve x
