Yer, anywhere , never mind a 3* Michelin. He was in a pub in Glasgow there and was saying he loved it cos they give for the community. He said his parents did same thing but not on “such” a scale, and commenters asked what pub did his parents own, didn’t see anything he replied (maybe he has since) .he was saying it’s gone up in price, since he was last there ,a quid or something, but has to. he then said he wanted some more gravy, but wouldn’t be right to ask, what! Just ask the woman for a splash more gravy 🙈🫠 she’ll bring you it, like they’re paupers , he’s so dramatic 😂
He also loves making a point of leaving a tip in places. As though he invented the concept of tipping.

Not bothering to watch it but i imagine its all exaggerated. Play stupid games win stupid prizes peddling rage bait. Also so he's against people 'ambushing' him in public but its totally fine/ 'right' for him to do it to people at work or for his pitbull danny to do it back?

I used to like Gary and his videos and still do enjoy the odd couple, back when they were simple, light hearted, checking out some of the good food this country has to offer in both well known and hidden gem establishments (for those I could let the odd fast food chain slide as theyre not somewhere i go anymore so it can be interesting to see current trends). But the descent into rage bait slop is disgusting, manifesting into half the comments on that latest potential food poisoning curry takeaway being racist shit (at the time of writing this they hadn't been removed). The misleading titles and not to mention the stupid shocked or deep in thought thumbnails that've been out of trend for, in social content terms, an age. The pop up table also has to be one of the dumbest gimmicks I've seen in quite some time yet he and danny seem to think its the most original and hilarious bit in decades. It definitely feels like that group who seem to have gravitated together (though Harrison seems to have managed to be intelligent enough to steer clear of what i'll be generous and call bad content decisions) are feeding off eachother and using one anothers ideas in a race to the bottom.

And I know its clearly a winning formulae views wise for him but jesus christ is he going for the Guinness book of records achievement for most fish and chip shops reviewed?! How can you not be bored making the same thing over and over let alone being a viewer. Going back to my point of unoriginality with every single one apparently being either the best or worst in history if the titles are to be believed

Finally, as someone who actually works in the restaurant industry and not someone who as far as I think we've been informed didn't just grow up with parents who owned a pub? (feel free to correct me if more info has been given in a video I've missed) some parts are outright (I think intentionally) dishonest. Specifically when referring to things as 'not worth the money' or 'overpriced' etc (I grant you in some cases eg Salt Bae restaurant this is fair and true). I say intentionally dishonest because in some videos he acknowledges costs of rent, running, wages, quality of produce etc but in others its ignored entirely i presume to get the reaction of a lot of people who don't think about those things with the 'oh i could make that at home for half the money' mindsets. A recent example that comes to mind would be where he's reviewing i believe a hotel cafe that serves 'the most expensive pastries in the country' then comparing it to Greggs, without any consideration of location, atmosphere, the experience of a highly trained brigade of patissiers, the high quality ingredients vs takeaway, made by a machine, frozen, with the cheapest ingredients possible to keep margins high, Greggs. The industry especially now needs much better ambassadors, not people/wannabe influencers slagging it off.

Without too much stretch of the imagination in Garry's very formulaic shtick: 'has he got too big for his boots? I'll let you decide. Buh bye' *walks off muttering to myself into the distance while trying to dodge people and/or traffic*

Anyone else find his latest reveiw a bit cringe?yes of course it was a nice thing to do but found it a bit weird
Anybody remember Harry Enfield's smashie and nicey characters "that do a lot for charity, but dont like to talk about it" but do nothing else
I find Gary a bit like that why not do it in private off of camara it was the same with that massively over priced food van he gave money to for the kids
Then accosting that poor chap just minding his own business on the way out 😬

Couldn’t agree more.

it’s constant clickbait slop now which is fine if it was just purely for clicks and nobody was getting hurt. But he’s damaging real small businesses with his witless videos. He’s not a food critic. He doesn’t have the journalistic integrity required to be one and to balance the customers viewpoint whilst respecting the business aspect. He has quite a nasty side which seems to be a feature with a lot of the big reviewers.

I always thought that he lived in Sutton or nearby? Is there any news on Old Ma Eats or is she cared for by professionals now?
I related to him a lot back in the day because I was a carer for my mum. The more I watched, the more I doubted the truth of what he said about that, as there was no way I could have done even a tenth of what he did when I was caring but I loved that he was finding space to look after Mum and take care of himself.

Caring is relentless. If you can't buy your way out of the grind, the physical side will wear you down. Even if you can (I couldn't) I imagine the emotional load still persists.

I could just about get my head around how Gary could be a carer for his elderly mum and sneak out somewhere local for a break when she was settled/calm/with someone else and film it for some extra youtube cash. That was my buy in to his channel tbh. He lost me when he went ever further and fancier and didn't say a word about mum.

I guess maybe his mum has passed now. Or maybe she's in professional care. Anyone who's been a carer would have no judgement about professional care. But it seemed he that used that a way to hook an emotional audience then never revisited it.

Just on the above point, has anyone seen Gary, Greeno(I think), Rate my takeaway, Harrison and Hannah Ricketts all together. There have been a couple of videos and they are as awkward as they sound. I've lost track of which channel puts them out. It's like a knowing nod that they are all in the same clique and viewership but it falls utterly flat because none of them really get on or have chemistry in the same room.

That was a weird one it all seemed a bit far fetched tbh im not saying people dont go up to him and make comments but that level of abuse, for a food reviewer?
Surely if people were doing what he claims you would report it to the police 🤷‍♀️
Specially if someone was allegedly abusing your mother with dementia. He somehow knows this abuse his mother is getting (assuming that’s even true) is related to the channel. Again, how could he possibly know that? Bullshit.

The depressing thing is there are so many good restaurants out there... that make you feel good when you watch reviewers at, thatre interesting, that would actually benefit from some publicity where people would think 'oo that looks good let me go try there!' who tf is watching the fish and chip shops or £1 burgers and thinking 'oo ima get me some of that'. But no, theyre catering slop to the thick because rage bait is the easy option, lazy -.-

He was so patronising to that chef who was actually the manager. Like he needed to be told he cooked the food right. Chef looked at him like he was a complete idiot. Which he is. Who can I blame for finding this twat.

He's probably joined the same agency as Hannah Ricketts.
She's also gone down the same rage bait route with the hotel reviews.
It might explain those strange London vlogs where they all met up.
It pays well until he gets bopped.
