Another bit of armchair psychology after yesterday's slogfest -

Gary seems really attached to the idea of himself as a victim/someone who can't cope with everyday things. He went on and on about how he can't drive, couldn't driver, never will be able to drive..Of course he could drive. There are paraplegics and amputees who drive modified cars without issue. Most people with anxiety and depression drive - how else would they get to the doctor, get their children to school etc

He seems to be really confused about what he's not doing because he's living at home and doesn't have to and what he's not capable of doing. He's capable of doing all the things any other big tall 40 yr old man can do - he's just not doing them because he doesn't have to/he has someone to do them for him. People with amputated legs are out there working, driving, exercising because they have to! Their mother's can't drive them around and deliver food to their bedrooms.

He really needs to find his 15 mins to going on one of those bootcamp style programs where they knock some sense into him.

Oh man, I’m so happy for them, but of all the people in the world you could admire, they pick him?
you do have to worry how someone who is jobless, not living off their own graft, and clearly overly dependent on others in all aspects of life, is someone to look up to.

Id rather put Kim Jong Un at the top of my tree than Gary

Dashing through the snow, in a non-needed wheelchair. Over seas he goes, laughing all the way.

Is it bad that I first read it as ‘My album Autistic Christmas’? ☹

Nobody:

Gary C:

Hahahah!! It was exactly like that!!
He said he isn’t doing the parks for a while as he found WDW too stressful because when Adam was trying to reserve Mickey and Minnie’s runaway railway, he had to hold up the timer and his hands were shaking.
Honestly I’m sorry but we all have to do things that make us stressed and anxious now and again.

Oh and he also said the Disneyland hotel was $600 a night and next time they’ll do one of the cheap ones by the park. None of them are ‘cheap’ unless you’re not paying. He has no concept of money.

But they still have a cruise coming up 😂

Or even given some of it to his parents to contribute towards food/bills
When you read this Gary will in bed with his new phone, computer chucked on the floor and his parents will be downstairs making his food and discussing how much of their inheritance Gary should get for spends during his next moomoosharo. He’ll start washing the odd dish to bleed as much as possible out of them. Probably £5 for each plate he rinses!

How depressing and his parents must hear him at that hour. I’ve seen the house. It’s a terraced house. Sound will travel at 2:30am

when I was depressed the only thing that helped was getting up out of the bed in the morning at a reasonable time. I had to coax and drag myself out some mornings but staying in it all morning and then up all night - terrible for my mental health.

There are just too many flexible ways you can work now. I think its really hard to justify not being able to work at all these days. We aren't in the strict 9 to 5 in the office world anymore.

The surprise was a flop in this one. When Adam said the taxi is here for terminal 3 I could tell by Gary’s reaction that he knew. Found it interesting that Gary wasn’t even able to act all fake surprised or even fake the Gary cam which was a very muted affair unlike earlier ones.

Will be interesting to see his reaction to the new ship as so far I’m getting the same ‘over it’ vibes from him.

At the end too when asked his highlight of the day I think Adam was expecting him to be more enthusiastic about Upper but I actually believed the joke answer more - that falling into the pull down bed was his highlight.

Social anxiety yet his entire life is just socialising? … extended holidays with friends, day trips with friends, IG lives with hundreds of people… socialising is literally all he has.

I say this as someone who also has a ("clinically meaningful" is the term I think) anxiety disorder.
Do you walk around Walt Disney World dressed as a pumpkin?

I'm not making light of anxiety, because I have plenty of patients (and a spouse) who have very debilitating anxiety and panic attacks. But almost all of them also do what they can--medication with or without talk therapy--that helps them function in society. Gary never seems to do ANYTHING aside from buy overpriced shit and travel. He doesn't even do his own cooking or washing.

He's not working on his anxiety, he's reveling in it.

I'd love to slap him silly when he was talking about his inheritance. Have you no shame at all to admit that you're over 40 and needed your granny to die to get a new phone and computer. And no mention of how his parents are doing or how the family is doing. Poor woman probably did more on her worst day than he's done in his life, she accumulated a bit of money, was probably so proud to be able to leave a little sum to grandchildren and that smug prat buys a phone and acts like it's not enough - even though he hasn't a penny to his name. His mother/father probably inherited a few thousand and he'll have his eyes on that money now for his next trip. He's really getting under my skin lately.

And Adam only pays when they're vlogging! Ummmm they're always vlogging. They vlog the airport hotel, flight, hotel, theme park and all meals.
Except the tour Kieron gave them of the city, the only thing about the last trip that looked interesting - 😄 -lazy arse Adam. The chance that Gary put his hand in his pocket that day is about the same chance that Madonna has never had plastic surgery.
Well said! Adam gets on my nerves too but at least he can convince himself he’s doing some work by vlogging, editing, and the “books”. Gary is just a user looking for his next enabler. What a sad little life.

Adam is Gary with rich parents. His upbringing gave him a better education and his family and circumstances means he has access to more money and he understands on the surface level that he needs to present as a “business man” and he needs to keep the vlog going as a “career”. Adam raised in a working class estate without the bank of mam and dad - is Gary.

I think that’s why he puts up with him and is never tempted to smother him with a pillow!

I’m painting with very broad brush strokes here but, by and large, people who collect things and then brag about it publicly are doing so because they don’t have a personality or any other achievements to boast about.

It’s something that requires very little skill whatsoever. You literally just have to have the economic means to be able buy things, which most people do. It’s not an achievement. If you are collecting stuff that can be readily and cheaply bought in shops up and down the country, and on the Internet, it is even easier (and even more tragic when used as something to boast about).
A broad but accurate stroke. Something I’ve never personally understood (hate clutter). However, I let people off who have worked hard for their money to spend it on harmless stuff as they please. The boasting is sad though, it reminds me of people who brag after paying to have a photo taken with someone semi-famous at Comic-Con. but what bothers me with Gary showing off his hoards of collections is that he didn’t work to pay for these things. His elderly parents did. When it comes to buying food, paying for holidays or paying for bills, he can’t afford it, but when he a new funko pop comes up, suddenly he is spending like Gary Cardashian. Than to brag. It is gross, a man of his age as well.

I also think that when he said we don’t have hobbies, he meant hobbies like this.He can’t see how weird it is that collecting 1000s of toys and going to Disney as his only pastimes is not weird and that it’s us who are sad for not doing such interesting things like this?Loser
