I still don't understand how they are affording it. I can't imagine the YouTube channel is bringing in enough money to sustain building a whole new house? I also can't believe the bus is just in the house , rotting away. I get the feeling Raya is changing her mind about the bus being there. And why haven't they designed any kids bedrooms? Even if they're co sleeping now, surely when the kids get older they need a bedroom for their own privacy and to have a safe space of their own.
Very perplexing!

Louis made millions during his peak and I'm sure he invested a lot of it to set himself up longterm. He made so much money at one point, that he had two people employed full-time to work for him. Ange was doing all the bookings and sponsorships and Rachel gave up a good teaching position to write his blog posts. That was around the time they developed the stories app that they might have been able to sell.
Raya also comes from wealth. They've visited multiple family homes of hers in vlogs - one in Manhattan and one in Woodstock. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets some kind of monthly allowance. After graduation, she lived in a big Manhatten apartment and could travel full-time. Getting a job was clearly never an option for her.

Have they got visas? I thought they had to leave and re-enter at some point, so will they need to do that forever or will they get a permanent visa one day?

When Raya answered the 5 years from now question, she said that she wants to be at their Costa Rica home for half the year and travel full-time the other 6 months. So I'm guessing this is their plan. No school for the children, as expected unless they're sending them to boarding school since Raya loved her time at hers.

I agree that Raya’s family are minted but I think Louis spent his YouTube money, thinking the good times would last forever. The last few videos have had intros with clips from past videos and “If you’re new around here”, they are trying to relaunch and grow their audience. They need the money from YouTubing right now. If he had millions tucked away they would build the whole house now, not in stages. He has his other channel with his tech sponsorships but the audience isn’t huge.

I just find it wild, that they're already planning to build a second house on their property and that the plan is to travel full-time as a family of four.
Sure, they'll be gifted hotel stays, but I assume that a lot of the subscribers are people like me, who used to watch Louis back in the day traveling to genuinely interesting places and if all they do now is luxury hotel stays, many viewers will get alienated and it's simply boring content.
And I don't see them as well organized and adventurous (Raya, mostly), to do what Flying the Nest do. Raya is already struggling with motherhood and talks about needing alone time in every vlog. Traveling will only amplify those struggles.

Surely their kids will get sick of making friends with people and then leaving them? Surely he’ll miss seeing their grandparents? It just seems like such a selfish and unstable way to do life as a family

Yeah it feels wild to spend money on this big house but want to be out the country all the time. They also seem quite isolated in the community because they're always in the car driving places that seem far away. They like to show off the community foods but then eat out at restaurants all the time.

I get the impression that very few residents of their commune actually live there full time and a lot of them are just renting out their properties.
It must get old to constantly be surrounded by construction work with new people moving in and out and everyone just driving around there in cars. Doesn't feel like the eco heaven they're trying to sell.

Watching them walk about the house for the first time and talk about how small some rooms are is hilarious! Honestly they are so out of touch talking about the bathroom which looks huge!

I thought this about their UK rental too. Two adults and a newborn moving into a 3 story mansion at Brighton beach, acting like that's how the average Brit lives when even people in well paying professions could never afford that.
And the moving out vlog was even crazier, when you could see that every room was filled to the brim with stuff they accumulated in just 3 years. And then Raya sells herself as an earth goddess and Louis as an eco warrior when in reality, they're all about luxury and consumerism.

This! And why did they leave everything to the last minute when moving out??? He's lucky his dad is always there to help out but it was the night before they moved out and alot of their furniture was still not even dismantled and so much stuff everywhere ! When I've moved I've literally just had my mattress on the floor to sleep on the last night and everything else set to go

I know! It was madness especially when they are moving so far away and not just putting it all in a removal van up the road.

I can't wait to see this new house. Seeing them visit it and then deciding they might want a bedroom upstairs even tho there's no walls planned and maybe an en suite. And literally no spaces for getting kids to play or have their own room.

It's wild that they're building a massive house, but there are no rooms for the children in the building plans. And them saying that the rotten, mouldy bus could be their playroom, while all Raya could talk (and dream) about, was turning that space upstairs into her own meditation and crafts room, is just unbelievable and selfish to me. There's no way I would ever expose a child to damp mould, rust and wood splinters.

They have confused their manky old school bus with Kristen and Siya’s Airstream. An Airstream is a high end vehicle made to live in.
They haven’t got the money to build more rooms so they are pushing the vlogs and trying to get new viewers in the hope they can earn enough to expand the place, that’s my feeling.

You know for a fact it’s not what she wants when she’s talking already about building a bedroom with an ensuite etc.

She wants something like a luxury yoga retreat permanently with high end bathrooms and bedrooms and Louis would live on that bus forever

Story of their relationship, isn't it? That's why I've always been confused about people in their comments thinking they're a perfect match.
From the moment they met, they've wanted different things. And in the beginning, Raya used to still go along with the van trips and Louis' way of traveling, but if you look at their Instagram now, it's all 5 star resorts in Dubai, the Maldives, yachts and wellness spas.

Raya would have been so much happier settling down with someone rich in the suburbs of NYC and Louis with someone more spontaneous and less high maintenance who is okay with just a backpack and his chaotic ways.

Life in Costa Rica will be a real test for their relationship, once the first excitement has worn off and they have to deal with daily annoyances on top of the long drives everywhere for something as simple as groceries or a matcha latte. I assume they will still flee the country during rainy season?

I'm so invested in this house build/move because I just don't see it going well. I'm sure life with two kids without their parents around will be hard. And you're right, it's so much driving to get places.

I feel like they've managed parenting so far because their parents are always around. What happens when they kids need to be schooled or see friends and they can't just swan around doing whatever they want? I really hope their are still making videos then so we can see it all

I haven't watched much of the Brighton years, so I'm guessing Raya still hasnt learned to drive? So not only won't she be able to pull her weight in that regard, but she will need Louis to chauffeur her everywhere.
I would find that super risky myself and frustrating. What happens when Louis isn't home and one of the children has an accident? How far away are the nearest neighbors with a car for her to run to?
Being so dependent on your partner and so restricted in your movement without him can make your world really small.
