I do not like Rosberg at all, but the games he and Lewis played when R won, was crazy entertaining. Like two toddlers, but it worked. I can only see Alonso being able to keep up with this kind of fuckery.
I was so sad when Nico retired because I loved all the drama the two of them being team mates brought. Absolutely, Alonso is ruthless, I don't really like him but he sure makes the sport more entertaining.

Like cooking burgers under Lewis' window 🙈

Could be minds games! I've heard lots of people talking about how Lewis plays mind games with his team mates so maybe Valtteri has started to. So interesting that he didn't kneel though especially when he did all last year. I wonder how Lewis feels about it all.
I would love to know what he and Toto were talking about too! This is going to be a spicy season.
Well hopefully drive to survive caught it for next year long wait though 🤣🤣

So Alonso's race was scuppered by sandwich wrapper. Needs to stop eating his lunch on the go. Whole new meaning to drive through F1 style.
Sorry 😆

Yeah I totally agree. One of the commentators said that he was being used as a pawn in races, which is ouch, but true. There's no way you want to get to F1 in the best car (well best until this year possibly) and not fight for anything.
I mean what else should they have done? No matter what he would have never finished higher than 3rd after he screwed up the start and got gapped after the first stint, so might as well try to win the race with his help.

If Bottas would be quick enough none of this would happen. And if he tries to play mind games as some suggest he will also not succeed. Hamilton isnt taking him serious as a competitor, Max is his rival. And if Bottas is trying to rock the boat I'm sure Toto wouldnt think twice to get somebody else (Hulkenberg?) into the car, since this year they can't afford a intra-team rivalry when they dont have the quickest car anymore.

Having said that, I doubt that anything is going on. Bottas has tried for a while to get away from his "lap dog" image with beard look, profanity radio messages, often blaming other factors on bad results (which he never did before 2019) or having the girlfriend complain about the set up to the press and throwing digs on Social Media on his team mate. Simply not enough.

Bottas just isn't good enough. He was signed as a quick replacement for the unexpectedly retiring Rosberg. He's kept his seat by being formerly managed by Toto. And it being easy enough for Bottas to be P2/3 in most races.

He's never actually shown the talent that shows he deserves a top race seat. Front of the midfield is where he should be at best.

Do you think Mercedes would change mid season like Red Bull? I personally don't but are they happy with Bottas getting 3rd mostly? Yeah maybe an odd win and a few DNF's. Still think this 1 year deal for Hamilton is it and then maybe 2 Seats available. Gorgeous George and Ocon! Hey you never know 😁

I don't see Mercedes changing mid-season. Not unless Bottas properly kicks off and causes mega trouble, which I just don't see happening.

George is definitely going to be in one Mercedes seat in 2022, I can't see any way he isn't.

I'm not so sure about Ocon though getting a Mercedes seat. Though he would be another no. 2 to Gorgeous George who would put Ocon to shame I think.

To be honest, I'm still not 100% sure that Hamilton will leave after this season. I definitely think he is on his way out, but he might fancy a go at the 2022 reg cars before callijg time after that.

What did his girlfriend do?

What did his girlfriend do?
She complained to the Finnish Press that Mercedes screwed up his ride height in one race last year, which apparently raised some eyebrows, because WAGs ratting this sort of thing out to the press is rather uncommon.

As for the other one: I think she posted a Instagram story last summer of Bottas doing a BBQ and added a #NoVegan (Lewis is vegan) hashtag. Could be coincidence of course, though.

Sorry, I think you misread, I completely see why Mercedes use him as a pawn, my post was about Bottas' feelings towards this. He has said for years that this will be the year that he fights for the win, but he never delivers. There's countless times in previous races where his strategy will be based around Lewis, the most famous one is Russian GP 2018 where he let Hamilton through, although he's said he would never do that again, but there are more recent strategy decisions as well.
I completely agree with your post though - Hamilton doesn't take him seriously as a competitor, and he's missed his chance to play the mind games that Rosberg did, because exactly as you said, Mercedes need the lap dog second driver more than ever this year with the competitive Red Bull.

It's not about strategy though with Bottas. He just simply isn't as fast or consistent as Hamilton.

I've lost count the number of times he just falls away from Lewis and ends up several (sometimes dozens of) seconds behind, even when on the exact same strategy.

But then I don't really think there's a problem with that. He's up against one of the greatest drivers of all time, so it's no shame in not being as good. If anything, it rather suits Mercedes to have a driver who is pretty quick but not as good as the other one. Reduces the chances of inter-team conflict and on-track incidents.

I agree completely with everything you said. Toto gives me the impression he could not bear another Rosberg / Hamilton scenario. It was so toxic and the moment Bottas came into the team, Mercedes seemed calmer . I think Bottas has improved having Lewis as his team mate. But he can’t manage his tyres as well as Lewis etc etc.

Back in 2013 lewis said he feared fans would lose interest in f1 because Vettel was dominant. You would have thought he would have pushed for a better teammate to make it more interesting.

I think they all say this until they become the current champion. Same boring tit went on in the Schumi era. We all know they are legends, but can't help it after a while it becomes boring.

Agree, they all seem to shy away from it. Senna wanted Prost as his teammate to prove he was the best. 88 is still talked about as epic. Surely to cement yourself as the best beating a rival in the same car is the pinnacle.
Micheal v alonso in the Ferrari or Max v Lewis in the merc. Egos are too fragile these days.

Anyone given this new Extreme E a watch? Hamilton, Rosberg and Button all have teams competing.

Personally so far it looks like a load of rit. I don't understand the format of a weekend. And people say F1 is boring and processional, this first race is just about who gets in front and then stays there. Nobody else can see because of dust.

All about legacy and exposing the effects of climate change and leaving a place better than they arrive. But frankly as a racing series it isn't going to catch on I'm going to say.

I was interested in it, but I am disappointed. A lot of eco talk, but I do not get what is the point of the race, or why is it called a race. Maybe a docu series about the technology with famous people would be more enjoyable.
