I never understood that move. I was upset he was kept instead of Hulkenberg

i think he and daniel were much on the same level driving wise at renault - it was just that daniel finished above him points wise. though daniel had more dnfs than him iirc! i like hulk though, and would love to see him back.

it was a move that made no sense to me, daniel had two podiums in his second season at renault, seemed to be gelling with the car, apparently had a lot of input into the car - and left for a team that never really suited him. i would imagine he kinda regrets it, though he’ll probably never say so!

Does make me wonder how Alonso’s going to cope if Aston don’t their tit together next year. We’ve seen what it’s doing with Seb hardly making out of Q3 most of the time and to me Aston is such a step down from Alpine.

i can’t see it lasting much beyond that or it shouldn’t at least - the sport has completely outgrown the track imo. if it goes past 2025 then it’s really on affection only.

Chinese GP, could happily skip. Would rather go back to Malaysia in the rain.

Monaco doesn't work with cars the size they are, if the cars could get smaller again, it stands a chance with cars being able to be closer, but otherwise, no.

I did see an interesting article that suggested an extension to the race track that takes on new parts of Monaco that might be worth looking into to change things and try improve it. But I wouldn't miss the procession of Monaco.

Don’t mind too much if they have three races but the fact 2 of them are 90% corporate packages and the remaining tickets are stupidly overpriced (and on terrible tracks) feels unfair. COTA is great and well priced for American fans and it’s a shame so many of them will miss out despite there being more races. If it was priced for fans then cool but it’s so blatantly only for money

The calendar is well and truly all over the place! This really needsto be looked at for many reasons, the flights, the logistics, the health of the staff not just drivers (as in time off to recover from long haul flights) plus of course the costs and environment issues. Plus other things I might have missed on my rant

I went to Monza this year and we are thinking of going to another race next year. Any recommendations for a good track? Monza was a great experience as we had great seats right by pole position but the race was a little boring.

Miami sticks out. Why put it between Azerbaijan and San Marino! Plus they’ve moved Spa . I should be glad it’s still on the calendar but it’s always end of august. At least they haven’t moved monza. Italy in September is beautiful.
I should just embrace it but I just don’t like change and I miss Australia being the first race.

Money speaks, and new american fans are open to spend a lot for the whole experience. Our races here are more low-key, and people get pretty upset when the prices goes too high (as seen with Silverstone). Pretty happy that Spa is still here, and I don't hate Monaca, I feel like all historic races should be kept.

I also don't think Gasly is leaving AT. In my eyes, the alpine seat is still open and Daniel should go there. I hated his move to McLaren, as most of you, I still don't understand it. Besides how it turned out, it's also really weird how he left a team that was ready to invest so much in him. Anyhow, I'll keep manifesting a seat for Daniel in my night meditations and keep my hope high. So many missed opportunities, what a waste of a great talent.
At least, he said that he's happy to see Max on top, we'll have that bromance forever (suck on that Netflix ).

How did you get on at Monza? Where did you stay, was it relatively easy to get to the track, was it expensive or reasonably priced (in the grand scheme of F1 anyway)? I was thinking about going next year so input from someone who has already been would be much appreciated I saw some negative comments on twitter about the crowd but I don't know if there was any truth to it or if it was people just trying to stir up stuff on social media.

I've only been to Sivlerstone and Budapest so far.
Silverstone is such an experience, said i'd only do it once and that was it as its expensive... well I bought my ticket and camping for next year.
Budapest was great for the price, I just wish they did entertainment at the track. Food and alcohol is very cheap at the track.
If you do Budapest get pitlane tickets when they go on sale for the thursday I got so many signatures as the drivers do their interview thing on a temporary stage and if you stand against the wall/fence most of the drivers stop and sign stuff.

We stayed in Milan and got a public bus on the friday which worked out well but we heard it can be very busy Saturday and Sunday so instead we got a train from Central Station to Monza and then the shuttle they put on to the the track. Most days it took at least 2 hrs from our hotel in central Milan to our seats. Sometimes it was 3hrs. Its not a long distance but there were queues and just waiting for tickets and transferring from metro to train to shuttle etc took time. If I went again I would stay in Monza but I imagine accomodation is expensive.

Monza has crazy rules like power banks arent allowed or caps on bottles but you are allowed massive flags with poles! We still snuck in drinks and powerbanks as security check is pretty light!

They brought in a system this year that you cant pay for food and drink with cash or card you have to buy tokens or get a NFC bracelet and top that up via a website. We went with the bracelet and it was a nightmare and didnt work on the friday. Queues were around 1.5hrs to get the bracelet so it was annoying and then we couldnt use it! It was fixed Saturday and Sunday but queues are so long for food etc we decided to bring food in with us as we didnt want to miss any racing. The queues for the tokens were also really long.

We enjoyed it. The experience was great but we spoke to someone who had been before and she said this year was really bad with overcrowding as they sold way more tickets than unusal and attendance records were broken. I had nothing to compare it to though as it was my first race and assumed queues like that were the norm for races.

In terms of the crowd...Max was 100% booed. But it wasnt a nasty feeling if that makes sense. Like it wasnt intimidating and we chatted a lot to others in queues etc. There were a lot of people who travelled from other countries (us included) and there was a great atmosphere. We got on to the track for the podium...that was slightly hectic with people pushing etc but it was fine.

In terms of expense we decided to go all out on our tickets and we got tickets for the main grandstand. Our tickets were just over 1000 euro each for the 3 days. I know its a crazy amount of money and you can get tickets in other stands that are cheaper or general admission. We have talked about doing this since early 2020 so we justified it that it was our big post Covid holiday. We were right by the start line and 5 rows back so once we saw our seats we knew they were worth it for the build up as the race itself wasnt the most exciting. This is a photo of the view from our seats. We also got to see half the grid arrive as they all come in the entrance by the main grandstand. That was pretty cool. We saw Seb on his scooter, Valterri arrived by bike, Lando, Lewis, Carlos and Charles, Ocon and a few more.

Oh wow thank you so much, this is so helpful it sounds amazing and your seats look incredible! I've noticed a lot of people saying similar about races being overcrowded this year, I do think they're trying to make up for the last couple of years but it's gonna be busy no matter what I suppose.

I was at a festival earlier this year and it was the same kind of thing - races are sorta festivals in their own right too after all! Friday was fine but some teething issues with queues and payments, sorted by Saturday/Sunday but also so crowded. Same rule with bottle caps too, although a bottle of water without a cap was fine to bring in.

I was thinking similar on cost, you're right it's a lot of money but if you make a holiday out of it then I think it's reasonable. I've been to Silverstone twice but it was a long time ago and it does feel like races are just incredibly busy now no matter what.

No problem! Ya that is it...we made a holiday of it and had a few days in Milan too. I had never been. Another alternative is to stay in Lake Como as it very near and there is a train from the station Como San Giovanni i think (its nearer to Monza than Milan is) but again not sure re cost of accomodation whereas Milan has a lot of accomodation options and we found hotels reasonable. We think Williams crew were staying in the hotel near us as we saw a few outside it smoking when we were leaving most mornings.

I would recommend going for a stand that has cover...if not from the rain from the sun!
