It would make sense to actually have a junior in at RB! Some were saying when DR left RB he was still in the pool of red bull drivers but to me his post didn’t sound like that

I thought this too. I don't follow all the drivers, just a few but the posts are like they are not gonna see him again.
They keep hinting on the news here in Australia that DR might return to a different team as a reserve driver. I don’t see that happening, and agree that all the posts from the drivers make it seem very final. DR made it clear he wants the RB seat; I don’t see him returning.

At this point, Checo is going to be in the seat for the next decade with rumours every few months that he’s about to be dropped
they do have a little more weight this time i think - especially with the (almost confirmed) rumour that rb wanted to drop him in july but carlos slim talked them out of it for sponsors and worries about them losing coverage at the mexican gp. they don’t want him there so it wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve negotiated some kind of swan song for him.
tbh i think people don’t realise how much sponsorship checo has (disney! nescafé!) or that he has a really wealthy borderline sugar daddy who covers a lot of his pay and was able to be directly involved in contract negotiations AND influence the decision. it’s not as easy as rb wanting to drop him otherwise they would have done it months ago. he’s lost them so many vital constructors points this year.

He needs to head to America for a year or two and do Indy or something similar. F1 has not been his calling for a long time
I think he’ll be back as a tv personality. If Netflix are smart they’ll have him as one of the story tellers in future seasons
