Yeah, Florence and I are around the same age with vastly different backgrounds, and even though I'd say I have a fair bit more life experience (dealt with family death at a young age etc) I don't think either of us would have the authority to tell people how to live their lives. I get it if she's aiming her books at a much younger audience and playing the 'knowledgable big sis' role but it seems patronising to have a young, privileged woman act like (and profit from an image of being) a wise sage of feminist wisdom.
Very good point (y)

There is also no proof that they don’t either 👀 I’m not going to take the word of someone who is clearly very personal about it. They haven’t issued any rebuttals about the latest from Chidera.

I’m really not “forgetting” anything, I have a different perspective to you, I’m not slow, you don’t need to explain the details of management to me. There’s a lot of presuming on your behalf around the structure of payment, I would suggest that Chidera “exposes” this next.

Also work in IT but I’ll continue to let you patronise me, for a small company with a shared service provider doing that work, it could be more expensive then their current budgets 👏🏼
Lol OK i think you're taking this a bit too personally

Ajabarber's recent stories (attached) say it perfectly imo. If you don't like an agency's ethics or decisions, don't sign with them in the first place just so you can personally profit from their expertise and then have the cheek to complain about it later.
She had been with them for years though, someone can appear to be for one thing and your impressions of them change whilst working with them. This happens to everyone in everyday life.

I wonder why my comment got deleted? I'm guessing either a friend or Aja or Aja herself is a mod her, INTERESTING!
What did your comment say?

I honestly think all parties involved arent the greatest. There’s not one person I particularly feel sorry for. I can see people’s views from all perspectives tbh and all of it is valid for the most part I think

I think loudbossygross has annoyed me the most, riding on the coattails of Chidera, posting people’s DMs and taking people’s money for it 😒

She went quiet, must’ve been told off, then popped back up when Chidera came back on stories.
Ugh yeah I can't believe LBG is still at it and tagging both FG and CE in her stories. She's reposted a bunch of Florence's insta lives today and repeatedly tagged her, yet had the nerve a few weeks ago to say she wasn't trying to facilitate cyberbullying or a massive pile-on. 🤮

Been following Floss for a while and im baffled by some of the comments here!

'The Floss Effect' is SO clearly tongue in cheek? She's posted loads of stories that make it clear that neither nor her audience think that she invented breaking up with partners, cutting your hair and coming out as bi ffs  some of the messages she gets are from people genuinely thanking her for what she wrote helping them come to those desicions, and she reposts those because she's proud of helping people, not because she thinks she invented these things... she's posted loads of stories where she's giggling along with people in messages its really obviously not a serious thing...

Same with 'dump him' again... its a lighthearted shorthand thing. She's in no way pressuring or shaming you to break up with a partner even if you dont want to! She doesnt need to put a disclaimer about how obviously she isnt referring to 20 year marriages where your husband might have got grumpy about doing the dishes once... because its bloody obvious thats not what she's saying!

Has anyone seen the trailer Florence just dropped on her grid for the new podcast? I wonder which PR genius told her to use a mockney accent. It's so cringe 🙈 she's not fooling anyone lol

Also properly insulting to anyone who's had to deal with genuine barriers bc of their native London accent
She may have picked it up naturally as she lives in east London now and hangs around Londoners? Or perhaps just thinks it’s cool haha :)

I suspect she might have been told to be less posh. You’re right about it being offensive and laboured though, she even drops a ‘T’ which I’d do with my friends in conversation but not on a pre-recorded script for an important podcast

Her silence on what’s happening in Palestine is DEAFENING. For someone who’s forged a career initially using “online activism” why would you stay silent when there is a literal genocide happening in front of our eyes. She could share info on protests, places to donate, mp letters.
Not to get into this but there are two sides sorry- what’s happening in Israel too. I’m not sure I’d share anything if I was an influencer as I know sod all about it, who cares if I put be kind as an Instagram post or whatever

But I agree, she claims she’s so brave and edgy but never opens her mouth about anything edgy, political or controversial

Slumflower said Florence copied her book.

Sumflower wanted said book pulling off the shelves or a large percentage of the sales profit.

Florence attempted to make a donation to a black mental health charity. This was refused by the charity.

Slumflower said she was going to take legal action. She also got dropped from her management which was also Florence's management I believe. Florence went quiet and put out a statement (obviously written for her).

Then I think people just got bored and forgot about the problem.
Thank you for explaining, really appreciate it. So in your opinion who seems to be in the right?

Haha no I’ve not read her book, because I think she comes over a condescending and childish.

There’s a rave section too. So set up a thread to talk about how empowering she is there.
I have replied to this thread ages ago with criticisms of her. Doesn’t mean that I can’t reply to yours?? I’m hardly her biggest fan but what you said wasn’t really a sound or fair criticism of her ideas.

I don't know why, but I feel like she's not going to live there for too long. It seems like she feels like she's in a whole new world, but this feeling is gonna fade away quickly...

I'm afraid a solicitor or barrister would be the only person qualified to speak on the merits of a claim - but from my layperson's understanding, I'd imagine that Chidera's repeated statements that FG deliberately copied and profited off of her work would be fairly easy to disprove using legal standards of intellectual property violation. If Chidera's claims can be disproved to such a standard then FG/ possibly DB could seek financial damages and/ or an injunction preventing Chidera from continuing to make such claims, as a remedy for the emotional, health-related, reputational and/ or financial (delete as appropriate lol) damage caused by CE's statements.

Defamation is not my area of expertise by a long shot, but my understanding is that libel simply means defamation in written form, as opposed to slander which is verbal defamation.

Ultimately if such a claim arose it would be down to the court to decide whether CE's statements held any truth or whether they were defamatory in nature. But for anyone interested in the specifics of how the law quantifies libel, and the possible defences, this is an interesting read:

I agree with littlenoodle, though - I don't think Florence would sue, although I do think DB might possibly choose to.
Ah I see!!
Thanks for explaining x

It’s a big show to say look at me a “queer” writer and this “queer” character uses she AND they pronouns.
It’s very performative 🙄 Centre a queer character fine, but this just reads like a kid trying to shock. Which is what Florence is I guess :)
