I agree with everything @PixelGirl has said. If it helps you @50’sGirl when my father died I put a photo and some of his belongings (he collected pocket watches) and a candle on a table. I used this a lot as a focus point and it comforted me enormously just to sit nearby with the candle burning whilst I thought of him.

The purpose of clapping is just to energise your surroundings for you. Having had a bit of a think about your case though I might be tempted to say if it doesn’t feel right just now or if you have any hesitation why don’t you wait until you are feeling a little better perhaps? I am sure everyone here will think of you and send you the energy you need to support you if you choose to clap at a later stage. You can clap your corners at some time in the future if it doesn’t feel right now. It‘s something to consider.

Also, if its any help, your father’s energy cannot be diminished since you can‘t destroy energy. Tesla and Einstein believed in reincarnation because you cannot destroy energy. As I’m sure you know they were 2 of the greatest scientists ever. Perhaps reading about Tesla may help you understand energy a little better if you haven’t looked at his history before. He was a truly altruistic man and all of his good ideas and patents were taken from him and capitalised on by others like Edison (light bulb) and government agencies allegedly after his death. Yet he carried on examining the power of energy even though he was not rewarded for it himself. He famously said ”If you want to understand the secrets of the universe think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.“ I really hope some of this will help you a little. 💛

This thread seems to be dead but I want to drop by and thank for the advice. I've been reading your posts in hopes of making my home a feel good place. After a few weeks of anxiety and feeling stagnant, and two days of intense cleaning which left me feeling anything but refreshed, I tried smudging and clapping. Despite practically uprooting the whole flat, I still felt trapped but after thesmudging, opening the windows and clapping for a good few minutes (my hands were sore), I really felt a weight lifting off my chest. I still don't know if I believe that it was the smudging or just the act of doing something about it, but whatever happened, it helped. I intend to continue! Thank you all :m
That sounds great! I'm not sure who is checking in on here....
@Oops... Are you out there?

I just had a tax rebate which was totally unexpected! 😂

Here is the talisman I ordered.

It lists the animal protectors.

I liked it because it’s credit card size so I can slot it in my ‘phone case.
We are all trying to do “cures” to our homes but this should protect us when we are out of the home because we’d take it with us whereas our other items stay at home.

I’ll let you know what it’s like when it arrives.

Re crystals and protection:
A few days ago I received a black tourmaline necklace that I’d ordered online. I’m not happy with it, it just doesn’t feel right so I’m sending it back. I’m sure I read somewhere it’s best to choose the crystals yourself if you can so that you choose the right one. Unfortunately I can’t do that so I’ve ordered a couple of different ones online so fingers crossed these feel right.

What has happened to the regular posters - @Oops... and @1001 others to name just two?
I’m missing their knowledge.

The next matter that will arise is - where is @Oops - the Downtonbury issue, etc questions will appear. Should we relate to @Miscanthus how it should handled? Should your new thread be mentioned and/or that you’re taking a breather from Lids thread?
I think just leave it as it is maybe for the time being. No point in pushing a rock uphill. If it gets mentioned ever lets deal with it then x.

Today we should hear about @MissMidnight and her hospital check up. We may need to think about a Nymphs and Shepherds scene where we wear flowing Grecian frocks as we dance into a shady glade as we welcome her, strewing her path with rose petals and fragrant pomanders. A harpist will be playing gently in the background. Anyone know where we can lay our hands on a few handsome shepherds and a harpist? Anyone..?

It’s all so fascinating isn’t it? When I looked at what I wrote in 1993 in my book I was so heartened at how it had all happened as I had written it. I have now spent quite a bit of time this weekend revisiting the playsheets in this book and writing them again for 2021. So I’m now describing the next journeys I want to go on and working out what needs to be done to arrive at the next destination. I now have a completely different destination to what I wrote all those years ago. I have noticed a change and already (probably because I am following my dominant thought) things quite literally are appearing in front of me. For instance I belong to another thread and yesterday 2 members (both very dear to me as it happens - no surprise there ) posted (independently) exactly what I am visualising. It’s there in glorious thechnicolour. So it appeared right in front of my eyes. It’s fascinating and it really spurs me on. I have now decided to spend at least an hour a day on my ‘making things happen‘ endeavour. I’ll keep you posted on how things begin to manifest as they appear...:m

This is wonderful news 👏. It’s amazing how when you really focus things start to really happen...What a difference it will make when you have a much shorter journey AND start making a different home that you can customise to make it exactly how you have pictured it! I love hearing this stuff. It is so good to know that what started as a germ of an idea is now becoming a reality because you let the focus grow in your mind to bring it about. Sounds to me like you are so much further down the line now (in a relatively short period of time). Keep going and keep telling us what transpires next. Hanging on here to hear the next instalment :m
You've convinced me to buy a copy - luckily for me, it's in stock and will be here before the end of the week - woohoo!

I find with many of these books - especially on the topic of law of attraction - it's just a big old rehash of what's already been covered. But I did notice in the reviews for this one that you've recommended, that it seems to offer a little more than the stock-standard narrative.

I'm excited!

I've just put some gold coins (regular currency, not Feng Shui coins), under my front door mat; I'll let you know if by doing so I receive a big windfall (y)
An update: I buy a lottery ticket that has a draw every night (costs NZ$7 for the week). First night after laying the coins, I won $12; on the second night, I won a bonus ticket. Was it thanks to the coins? Who knows. I'm going to switch out the regular currency with some Feng Shui coins ... I'll put three, bound by red string/ribbon, under my mat as three attract wealth and prosperity. I'm going to use the ones that have been under my mat, to buy next week's ticket.

Since its come up I think it may help to say why its seen as important to put the loo seat down.
According to FS when the loo seat is left up you flush money down the open loo (this knowledge alone can have a dramatic effect on some men!)
Its also because flushing the loo when the seats is left up exposes the bathroom to certain unhealthy gasses in the ground via the plumbing pipes Which run into the sewers. So this can bring bad energy into the bathroom from below ground level.
So - the ideal way is to use the loo - put the seat down and then flush. Its actually a much healthier way to go to the loo and saves your money being flushed down the loo too - win win :D

UGH, toilet seats. I guess there's mechanical ones now that you can preset to go down on their own. That's an idea at least.

My father was a severe germaphobe and developed OCD quite badly in his later years. One day, whilst in his 70s, he went into the bathroom and got his feet wet. You can imagine what it was. He calls my mum in and complains and she explains that the floor is always wet thanks to him, that she comes in after him to clean as best she can each time. Well he immediately started sitting to pee! He was the most macho, gruff, ass of a man, so this was huge. Word got out to my sisters about it and we all tried to get our own husbands to follow suit. I mean if my father, Mr Macho could do it and not feel emasculated, then they could too, right? My husband just laughed his ass off at me and walked out of the room. But my sister's husbands both pee sitting down now, and remember to close the toilet too. Seething with jealousy. LOLOL

I've ordered a money frog! I'm so excited!

@Oops... I would be DELIGHTED to participate in a clapping or smudge event. I have never smudged so would need instruction. I used to practice yoga a few years ago and at certain classes the wonderful English instructor would hone in on energy and have us work on intentions. The reality of the shared energy in the room was undeniably beneficial to all.

I've always loved houses that look unassuming from the street, but then are unexpected when you enter them. With great light and surprising open spaces. I thought this was because I felt the least assuming house on a given street would be burgled last. Having had a home robbery ages ago that could easily have been a home invasion since they came in during the day on a Saturday, it's been a real concern since. But now I wonder if it isn't just the energy that we feel when we view houses. Some houses just *feel* happy.

I had an old house ages ago here in the US. I should say it was old to Americans; it was built in 1907. I loved that house from the second I set foot in it. I had to have it, and didn't even bother making a low offer. We happily paid the full asking price which wasn't the norm at the time. Anyways, this house needed work, I pulled the fabric wallpaper off to redecorate and chunks of the walls came down with it. We had to re do the walls, the electric was a mess, live wires everywhere and only one outlet in each room at a weird mid wall height. But the house was such a happy energy house. It had amazing light in every single room, city views, and water views. I could feel the house almost sighing in happiness as we brought it back to its former glory, choosing fixtures that matched its era, etc. We had to sell it and move to another state due to work and the real estate agent organized an "open house" event but he couldn't be present so sent a different agent to oversee the event. Well this agent, a woman, walks in and says, "OH! There's ghosts here. Happy ghosts. Have you felt or seen them?" I remember feeling horrified that she might say this when buyers were present and scare them off. But no, we ended up having a bidding war and made so much money that we were shocked. Think over 2 years of an executive's salary of profit in one fell swoop, and the real estate market wasn't really all that hot at the time. The couple that bought it had shown pictures of various houses to his mother who was dying in hospice and she told them they MUST buy our house, that its energy was lucky. They kept upping their bids and even asked if we'd leave our furniture and artwork because their mum had implied it was exactly the right placement and scale for the positive energy.

The house had stairs, but at the back of the house, and what beams it had were as room dividers, not crossing rooms. No slopped roofs, despite it being 3 stories and having grand rooms. Looking back it's almost as if the builder or designer was following Feng Shui principles when it was designed. Even the front door was unique in the way one approached it, clear, with excellent light as you came through.

I'm so grateful to all of you for all these tips, since we're looking to move again in a couple of years and have already started looking at houses and contacting builders to maybe build something to our specs since we'll be empty nesters soon. I'm energized now to apply these principles to house hunting or the design we end up with.
Love your post! Love, love, love it! Thank you so much. ♥

I’m still working my way through this interesting thread. You all seem like such lovely people, I’m so glad I found you. Please excuse me if these questions have been asked before.... what is Lydia’s Thread and if I wanted to improve my health can you suggest something to put in my health area? I’m suffering dreadfully with the menopause, it’s beating me sideways, so any help would so appreciated. Also, financially we take three steps forward and two back and it’s been like this for years

Is that a real thread or are you joking? I have atm problems with the tattle page on both of my browsers (Firefox, Chrome on Win10). Sometimes I have a search tool and then again not, sometimes I have to repeat the wanted action again and again etc. So I can't look it up myself. Guess I could google it 🤪
Because the Lidl thread I know of, has nothing to do with cooking 😂😂😂😂😂 (despise 1200 kniFes)
No- ha! - it’s just an innocent thread on Tattle - launched only two weeks ago, I think - but just a back and fro about shopping - v humorous and laid back. My fave Mod called it the third aisle of Tattle - aptly put. I just thought it would be an easy way back in, nothing more. Hope all good with you. X

This is fascinating. I have placed a mirror face down under my daughter’s bed - the one who is over the kitchen. I was just wondering- in the Lydia thread, @Oops, you mentioned that your staff members have a Chinese coin, held with red ribbon, on each of their laptops. What is this for?
The coins had holes in and the red ribbon threaded through and were to attract success and to ensure income from success. Red and grey are good colours for business. We went paperless some years ago and up until then they had the coins on their order books and the invoicing files too. In addition, I ensured all of them had their backs to the wall when sitting at their desks (to eliminate back-stabbing) and they all had money plants on their desks too to attract income. I was told by FSM to have a grey desk of a specific size (cant remember the measurements now but it was a large desk) and so I got a carpenter to make it for me and spray it light grey. Latterly, I put seaside paintings up on the walls (to make it feel like they were on holiday as imagery of moving water and fish is auspicious) and draped fishing nets and sea shells over the one beam in the office. I have been so blessed with such wonderful staff and the office was always a very happy place and everyone got on SO well and did very well in their careers. Also, no-one ever resigned or bickered. They are all extremely loyal and very supportive. Anyone who visited the offices commented on how calm it felt even though everyone was so busy. I couldn’t quite ensure that the men put the loo seat down!! I did put a funny poem over the men’s loos to remind/beg them to though..! Naturally they all work from home now so that has all become a little fragmented which is a little upsetting but it keeps them safe. The odd thing is that all of them are equally happy working from home and have remained fiercely loyal.

Thinking about what you've said @Oops... about screens and front doors, I wonder if you had a curtain over the front door on the inside, would be thermally sound, plus would it stop the energy leaving the house, thinking thick velvet curtain here? Also, regarding the beams that @BeccaBanana mentioned, would the beams be less imposing if they were painted the same colour as the ceiling, would the 'weight' of them disappearing have a more positive effect?

We do, do eccentric really rather well here LOL
Yes you are right about the front door that may have helped, but I don’t like the look of a curtain in front of a door so that’s why I didn’t do that. That’s purely personal to me though - it’s a lovely Georgian front door and I love to see it. :)

It might help painting the beam to make it less oppressive yes - however it may not stop the ‘fracturing’ - I am not too sure but know its better to make it less noticeable. In addition 3 red tassels over the bed hanging from the beam would help too. I did that in one of my guest rooms - they were actually dark pink but I got away with it. I was told wind chimes by FSM but I draw the line at wind chimes indoors. Somehow I just can’t do them. However, they do get the energy moving. :)

NO! Beams are bad? I pine for beams, and dream of moving to England and having an old house dripping with beams. Curiously, my English MIL always says she would never buy a house that had beams in the bedrooms, or sloped ceilings, and I just thought her eccentric.
Eccentric is good :) . She was absolutely right about the ceilings and beams though IMHO.

Like many I’m WFH and since Mercury Retrograde my motivation levels have dropped! I’ve de-cluttered my desk space - is there any desk feng shui I can do? Thanks 🙂
I was wondering if you could try keeping a rose quartz very close by (or better still actually on you in a pocket etc) and maybe introduce the sound of running water playing quietly in the background. You can find recordings of this on YouTube. (I’m thinking the kind of sound that a fountain might make with a gentle trickling noise). The sound of running water can be very useful indeed for energising a work area. In addition I wondered if you had a living plant on your desk as this can be good placed to the left hand side. Have you tried setting your intention to be more motivated? That could really help you too. I know this might possibly sound a bit far fetched but give it a go maybe and then see if things feel a little better. Just doing one of these things can change energy quickly for the better. Love to hear how you get on :m.

Just a note generally for everyone. Plants with spiky upright leaves are not very good Feng Shui nor are prickly cacti. They are said to energise arguments and dissent. So when looking for indoor plants for your home its considered good to have plants with round, heart-shaped or oval leaves. Just thought I should mention that. Hope this helps :m.

How big a rose quartz crystal for the center of the house would be appropriate? Or how small to still work? I'm looking for one and the sizes range all over the place.

My money toad arrived on Tuesday. I put it on red paper and placed it at hip level (wallet level) facing the living room. I made sure to think of my intentions as I placed it. Curiously, the very next day something I've been searching for for close to 15 years became available and I snapped it up. It was a bargain too, half the price I would have been wiling to pay for it. Not sure if the money toad had anything to do with that, but it's something I've been very keen to have and had never seen it available online until yesterday. Last night my husband told me we've had a verrrry good week in our investments. YAY!

So get those money froggies everyone and set your intentions!
I have quite a big rose quartz and will eventually put a photo up to show you. I was told by my FSM to get the biggest one I could find so its a big baby. However, in my bedroom I have much smaller ones the size of small pebbles. I might go with one you feel attracted to most - one that ‘speaks’ to you. If you want to re-energise them you can put them outside to bathe in either full moonlight or new moonlight. I can never remember which but suspect he told me full moonlight. (First night).

Great to hear your money toad arrived so quickly. You have had 2 very interesting things happen. Things can and often do happen quickly when you tap into a certain energy. The toad is an emblem of intention and where intention is made the energy follows. (It can’t not - its energy). So if you have two things happen so quickly I’d pat your toad on the head and say thank you! :m What I am about to say next will probably make you label me as barking bonkers - but nevertheless I will take the risk to say it. Ahem...

My FSM told me to turn mine round the other way at weekends to give him a little time out and to give him a months holiday every year. I snorted at him when he said that. However, he came back at me with this - Do you give the people who work with you the weekend off? I said yes. He then said Do you give those people who work with you paid holidays? I said yes, of course. He then said Your toad is working harder for you than you might ever know and should be afforded the same respect. I am not being prescriptive here I’m just saying what I was told by a very wise man. I got my crystal toad less than a year ago so he still hasn’t been given a holiday but it is due...Just sayin’ :m

Totally. It's now made me think twice about commenting. Or having to put a disclaimer with my comment. Fingers crossed our darling Oops will be back soon.
Oh my God, I found yesterday really stressful - and that comments are so weirdly taken out of context - what can start as a giggle turns into a minefield - please God, she will return or we are all honestly miserable. ❤❤
Eta - I made sure to keep commenting today even though I felt upset because I feel strongly that it’s OUR thread and we won’t be pushed out.

@50sGirl, My deepest condolences for the loss of your precious Dad. Sending you big hugs. You'll know what you can and can't do. I think skipping the clapping is advisable if you have even the tiniest of doubts over it. Keep listening to your instincts.

oo that's really interesting thank you! It's funny you mention the arguments as me and my husband NEVER really argued for 12 years, then the minute we moved into this house and for the last 4 years, we have had loads of arguments over ridiculous stuff! The trouble is, all the bedrooms have these big beams in them, some have 2 or 3 and they're all in the position where the beds normally go. I'll definitely look into the wooden flutes or decoupage ones. Also going to get a round mirror under the bed too!
It’s SO interesting you have said this. It’s also a great example of what goes on energy wise (even if we didn’t know about it).
Are you able to turn your bedroom into a study and have the study (assuming the study is downstairs and minus beams!) as your bedroom? As I write this I am really aware it sounds ridiculous...however, I happen to know quite a bit about beams from my own experience and I will let you know about that at another time.
Beams over your head (especially in a bedroom over the bed) might cause the energy to become oppressive which translates into arguments, fracture of relationship and the feeling of being oppressed.
Please let us know when you get the round mirror and if you notice any difference.
Are you able to cover/disguise the beam? Would it be possible to create a decorative canopy over your bed for instance so that you could not see the beam? This might help diffuse the energy.

Oh - is it still there? I thought it would be taken down. Well in that case its a good illustration of bad energy attracting more bad energy. I will go back and have a look to see if its the one I was talking about or if its another one. Like you I always feel sick too - so were 40 other people so it’s comforting not to feel the only one isn’t it? I see it as dark energy which is to be avoided like the plague. Yes it was lovely to see our Namima and Dandy and happy forest. I have rung my bell for MissMidnight too. 💛

So good to see you again!!!🤗 No I haven’t been banned just feeling a bit misunderstood, misquoted and missing in action

I am SOOOO sorry you felt so stressed. Truly. Yes I 100% agree we should stick together and watch out for each other too. 🤗

Noooo, please don’t let it spoil your enjoyment - I’m trying to say my energy isn’t right for it and how I see it going potentially - I now REALLY regret saying what I have said. PLEASE forgive me I am so sorry. I should have been more considerate and not made it sound so doom laden. I am going to go and have a little think of solutions to it rather than focussing on the negative side of it. BRB x
Nothing to forgive ❤ I actually can’t bear the thought of you leaving the thread after all the wonderful events you’ve organised for us. You have made lockdown not just bearable but wonderful. I would walk around the house grinning from ear to ear because of your wonderful words.

I have done the Marie Kondo thingie throughout the house and it's helped massively. Also changing the paint colours completely altered everything. It's so nice to now only have things that we love or are efficient and useful. However, I wish I knew more about mirror placements, colours that are best to decorate with, etc.

Anyone know anything about hair? I have read that fringes block luck.
I loved Marie Kondo and I love to see row upon row of nicely folded, colour co-ordinated whatevers. I have photos of my drawers on my phone which shows the level of bonkers I can go to. Just watching her videos made me happy.

Read this about kitchen knives... I’d better find a drawer to put mine in!

View attachment 440166
That makes PERFECT sense to me. I have now put my knives away in a cupboard. Such a good tip!

I have had a full fringe most of my life and do not seem to have much bad luck, lol.
Me too...

Has anyone got any preferences for a time to clap on Sunday please? It might be nice for us if we all manage to clap at a similar time.

11am - Midday or 1pm (GMT) are good for me x

I’m planning to take my ladder round with me as my ceilings are high. I am also planning to waft a white sage smudge stick everywhere when the corners are clapped having wafted the smudge stick over myself first for purification. There are other methods that don’t need a smudge stick as @PixelGirl has shown us in her post.
When I have clapped my corners in the past I have clapped up and down them until it feels better. I have opened the windows to do this and made sure the windows are clean. I have done space clearing in the past prior to clapping and am doing space clearing this week here again (Although I have never clapped corners in this house before). I think you might be supposed to use an eagle feather to waft the sage but cant find an eagle locally  . Looked on eBay but none of them are real eagle feathers so no point. I will waft with my own fair hand in that case...Can’t wait to hear how everyone gets on:m.

Oh btw when my Reiki lady came to a house I used to own she started clapping from the front door then all round the first floor then went upstairs. However, @PixelGirl has recommended to start from the top down so I will do it this way.
Also, I have read that if anyone is bed-ridden in the house at the time they should be moved but don’t effectively see how that’s possible. Also, pets should not be present either as they might pick up on the clapped energy...so my poor little Teddy Bear may have to spend some considerable time in the garden on Sunday which he wont be at all happy about if he’s on his own bless him.

Can I ask what is significance of the banana theme in this thread? Are they good luck?
On the other thread which @PixelGirl has told you about many of us changed our avatars in solidarity with the lovely lady who offered her transgressor a banana. It‘s become a bit of a thing on that thread since we previously changed our avatars to stand in solidarity with @PixelGirl when she was making a stand. :m. Some of us here came from that thread because we are interested in Feng Shui and improving the energy in our homes. Thus we are here and hopefully growing...Welcome to you! This is a lovely forum.

My heart sang when you described your husband!💛 I just love to hear stuff like that!! You have always described him in the loveliest terms and I love that he’s there with you on your avatar. It always makes me smile (along with the dog-less dog lead...). He’s more on the page than he knows you know ;).

It doesn’t feel right for me to do that at the moment at all but I’m giving it a lot of thought. My energy doesn’t feel right for it any more. However, I’m trying to shift the energy (in me) and trying to think hard how to navigate it. If you do something that doesn’t feel right; on a quantum level you are damaging yourself. I stopped doing that many years ago and saw a massive change for the better. Compromise is always a good thing but when you compromise on your truth it’s completely different. (If that males sense ).
This is something that is dangerously easy to overlook in everyday life. Ugh!! It's pivotal for every area of our lives to practice mindfulness. See? THIS IS WHY WE NEED YOU @Oops... either on the bunga thread or here. I will take your offerings on any topic. Please know how much your posts mean to me. From your beautiful poetry, imaginative posts, to the gentle wisdom you share with us all. Plus, you have style for miles. Love seeing your rooms and lovely pup.

I appreciate your efforts to keep us in the light, and your wisdom about things that can so easily damage us under the guise of "harmless fun".
