I find all of the Replica perfumes lack in longevity which is a shame as really nice scents.
They are also expensive given the lack of projection/longevity . I cant justify £50+ for a perfume that I can only smell on me for 10 minutes.

Hi! I am not really a huge perfume user but I really want to start wearing it more often. I have NO idea where to start (just get overwhelmed when I’m in the shops, also I prefer to shop online which I realise is not ideal for buying perfume lol). Can anyone recommend a place to start? Eg a fragrance tester box or something similar?
I quite like Santal 33 and would prefer something which is unisex - floral/woody rather than spicy. I also bought Malin + Goetz dark rum after loving the shower gel but find it a bit too strong and spicy if that makes sense?Thank you!!
You can buy selections of testers/ mini sizes directly from most perfume brands or beauty stores (spacenk, look fantastic, John Lewis etc).

Before Xmas I bought sets of Frederick Malle and Le Labo and have enjoyed trialing them all without the commitment of purchasing the full sizes. Loved Le Labo 13 and 29, strangely enough not so keen on 33.

I can suggest Diptyque ORPHEON as a unisex woody perfume that’s both modern and long-lasting.

Vote here for le labo another 13, could only afford small bottle on cult beauty but already ordering another small on for my handbag. It’s devine and really long lasting, I’ve been asked lots what perfume I’m wearing!

Also a Jo Malone fan, lime basil and mandarin so fresh in summer, Hazelnut and Oak is a stunning unisex fragrance, sometimes I combine both and again have been asked what I’m wearing. Bought a little trial pack of Jo Malone for my handbag. Some of the newer fragrances don’t last so it’s worth checking the website for reviews before you buy.

You can also order individual samples from eg fragrance samples UK, small aromas etc. Just look for the notes you like and order a few.

Fragrantica website/app is good for looking for similar perfumes to ones you like and notes
Thank you so much for this tip, I found a few I think I might like and ordered the dupes yesterday on Noted Aromas in sample size so I can try them all out. And they arrived this afternoon! So efficient

Also going to try Le Labo 13 after all these comments too. Thank you all so much for the tips 🙌

Just trying out some perfumes on a ferry: Amarige by Givenchy, I used to have this but it was never a favourite; The Only One by Dolce & Gabbana, nothing special; and Interdit by Givenchy, I think this has had a few mentions? - quite musky, woody-smelling, I sort of like it (assume it was perfume, not after-shave?)

Got a decant of black opium over red, it's pretty good, more of a sour cherry note and surprisingly long lasting for a black opium

I got a bottle of this a couple of weeks back and LOVE it. However I do feel like it's a very autumnal/wintery perfume so I probably won't use it for long before transferring into my fresher spring ones.

Is it much like Tom Ford Lost Cherry? Think I’ll get my nose on it tomorrow when I’m doing some shopping. Cherry is a hard one to get right as a note.

Sorry to jump as I know this wasn't replying to mine but I preferred it to Lost Cherry personally but it's all on personal preference

Tried the Kayali Burning Cherry today, which is pretty similar to the Lost Cherry initially but then becomes a lot more ambery after an hour or two.

Thank you. I love Lost Cherry so I need to smell this one. As @F1Grid has said the Kayali one is also lovely. A bit more complex than lost Cherry.

I got the vanilla oud from Kayali in the post today and it’s lovely. Mona knows her stuff

I got a kayali discovery set as I hear good things, I'm a bit clueless with perfumes but excited to try them all!

I came here to post about this too. I like it, to me it's a fruity Black Opium. I don't love it but it's good

No it's nothing like Lost Cherry. Lost Cherry is far more complex I think

Chloe I had to stop wearing it though as two times I wore in to the office people were saying they could smell cleaning products and it wasn't nice. I hid in the corner lol

I managed to nab that in the chazzer for 20p! 😯 sadly all gone now, but it’s my favourite autumnal.

—-

I’ve tried a lot of the Replica (MM) - only Jazz Club has any longevity.

im coming to the end of a discovery set from penhaligons. Seriously disappointing. Lasts 10 minutes and distinctly “meh” - to add insult to injury the last ml won’t decant/spray. Total waste of money and I’m so unimpressed I’ve given a few of the unisex to the kids and I’m happy to wear male fragrances. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for the penhaligons review as I was considering buying the discovery set. I’ve had similar experience with the frederic Malle set- I found most perfumes a bit nothing-y, incl the portrait of a lady and only rate musk raveaur which I already have a full size of anyway. Perhaps it’s more down to the fact I’ve totally lost interest in rose- based scents in the last year or two.

I really like Le Labo 13 and their Matcha 26 when I sampled them.

I have not tried any Kayali perfumes but have heard lots of good things.

I’m going away next week so will have a browse in duty free.

Any recommendations for a fresh smelling scent that has good lasting power?
