I definitely feel like influencer culture is coming to an end (hopefully), there are so many more comments calling these people out than there used to be.
Makes me laugh how they never respond to them, completely unprofessional, and unaware of how they actually come across

I was a bit surprised it was a pr stay considering they missed their flights and everything but now I understand why they stayed in a hotel in Gatwick etc etc , everything else was free. They wouldnā€™t go anywhere if they had to pay for it! You can tell by the photos she s not happy at all anyway ! Even talking to those women

The current economic squeeze means holidays like that are unthinkable for a lot of people. That villa will be Ā£20k+.

Yes but still so many idiots commenting like "you're jealous" or "this is how it works, it's their job to promote". Sometimes I realise that there are so many imbeciles in this world and I hate when that realisation happens on a Monday morning, not good for my mood.

In a way, theyā€™re right. FoD flogs his huge account to this company, they get a free holiday, it might bump up bookings a bit. Everyone is happy and resenting it is just a waste of energy. Itā€™s the deal theyā€™ve done with the devil to sell their family life online.

It looks like a family business with two parents and a few daughters in their 30s/40s helping out, theyā€™ve gotten this one wrong unfortunately.

Disclaimer I donā€™t work in marketing so defer to higher authorities on this but know the bare bones common sense stuff? Firstly this campaign isnā€™t measurable and itā€™s too expensive for that to be the case! Thereā€™s no call to action from FOD even if itā€™s just lead generation eg sign up to this mailer, make an appointment, brochure sends, call today, etc. This would be a standard KPI for a more expensive/long term commitment such as buying a car, or a Ā£20k villa stay. They canā€™t even do the age old argument of it being an awareness campaign as itā€™s a Ā£20k villa not a Ā£5 condiment or drink, itā€™s not a semi frequent or low consideration purchase lol. And as has been pointed out - their audience simply arenā€™t the right people, their audience are at best C2? Considering theyā€™re the aspirational ones to their audience and even they wouldnā€™t consider this for a holiday so how does that work? The family would have been better either working with a specialist luxury travel vlogger (plenty exist) and at the very least theyā€™d have gotten top tier media assets and some organic SEO boost, or tried and gotten in with HNWIs so they became a known venue.

Small companies get swindled by influencers all the time sadly. They could have done a lot more than looking at the follower count to prevent this. Thereā€™s lots of influencers who also travel who create good digital assets (drone footage, high quality photographs) rather than insta reels covered in grammatically incorrect text.

To finish this essay - the fruit pic looked so naff and isnā€™t something youā€™d accept from a Ā£300 a night hotel much less a ~Ā£3k a night villa? šŸ˜³

That is all very true! Consider my previous post an attempt not to be cross.

One reel about the villa at top speed and some story photos isnā€™t a lot for a freebie, is it? Theyā€™ve done holidays with this company before which probably gave them an in, but it just takes 30 minutes on FoDā€™s account to see how poor the quality of his ads often is. I had a look on their website and the information on there about the villa is a lot more interesting that you get from him!

I just donā€™t know why these companies donā€™t gift these holidays to truly deserving people instead of these cunts and yes itā€™s 08.37 am and Iā€™m using the word bleep!!

All of this.

Plus Clemmie is piggybacking on the nice #gifted location to try and jumpstart her influencing career with tagged outfit stories.

This is it - their narcissism prevents them from doing a good job. Iā€™ve seen other creators really go above and beyond for travel brands - detailed how-to-get-there and itineraries, super detailed reviews of local attractions, accessibility/social context stuff (eg travelling whilst black or as a wheelchair user), beautiful aspirational imagery. Watching a family from Ramsgate in a tiny boat isnā€™t compelling enough to make someone spend the amount that venue charges šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Also looking on the website it looked as if that villa sleeps a lot more than just their family - were they sharing it? Even sharing that is useful as it instantly opens up the market for grandparents & a few adult kids with their own younger children to book it! But he doesnā€™t want to admit these things so the venue lose out.

Such strange, strange goings on - friends of mine saw them in Corfu on Tuesday. Then he posts a heavily edited reel on Thursday saying they missed their flight and werenā€™t in Corfu. Why would they do that?! Just goes to show itā€™s all so fake!! Donā€™t believe everything you see!!
Also theyā€™re on a family holiday and heā€™s glued to his phone editing a fake reel. Spend time with your kids, lots of people would kill to go abroad right now.
heā€™s done this before - posted on a delay but trying to make it seem like itā€™s happening in real time. I totally understand not posting on real time when youā€™re away. It is an advert to thieves that youā€™re not home and also you may just want to chill with your family. But what I canā€™t get my head around is that rather than do a reel along the lines of ā€œwe just got back from this amazing tripā€, he posts as if itā€™s happening there and then but on a delay. I remember last year he was uploading clips of them having lunch and shopping to his Instagram stories when others had spotted theyā€™d already flown home. He was basically creating a fake reality and I find that very weird.

I was more concerned that heā€™s announced to everyone on the internet that his teenage daughter is sleeping alone in an annex. Safety doesnā€™t seem to be a priority

Surely the big drama over their (self inflicted) delayed outbound journey has massively overshadowed the actual trip? Would the client not have preferred him to paint a calm happy picture, rather than just giving the message that foreign travel with kids is a pain in the arse (a view I sort of subscribe to myself, 90 % of our holidays have been UK only since having kids). All that drama just reminding me of the absolute headache that is airport check in and yes we always give it three hours because thatā€™s how long it takes, even at the relatively small Luton airport.

Very exclusive!

Glad youā€™ve said this, those sorts of crochet/rafia bags are ten a penny on the counterfeit market. Celine bags too. Dhgate x TikTok reviews has made this stuff so much more accessible to people as itā€™s less of a risk than Ali express.

This is so true. There are so many travel Instagrammers who at least put the work in around deals, codes, itineraries, budgets etc. Or they share some actually useful travel tips. FoD got his "fame" when influencers didn't have to do as much graft (though I'm using graft loosely here, it's not like any of them are working down the mines), and now he just coasts on his legacy follower numbers.

I'm angry that these grifters are still getting freebies and that Clemmie is creeping back to prominence.
