The MCC thing is so very strange to me. I find it quite unprofessional that she hasn't addressed it at all, there's a lot of people on the Instagram page asking about it as well. Unless she got somebody else involved or sold it and the other party completely took over (kinda what happened to the youtuber Kenna and her skincare brand, idk if anyone knows her here)...

If we're being honest, it wasn't a real "brand" anyway, it was just regular youtuber merch. I have to say that I was initially under the impression that MCC would be the only seller for the El Tambo coffee, but there's quite a lot of websites that sell the same stuff. Idk why I was thinking that Eve would be coming out with her own original coffee blend

Not sure if it was here or on GG but people were discussing how she doesn't seem that interested in corporate law, but obviously the field has some good money. It's not that surprising that she would keep her channel just for ads at that point imo.

Obviously nothing wrong with wanting to make money, but personally I'm very much for doing something you enjoy assuming it at least lets ends meet. Plus, with her YouTube career it's not like she would only have one source of income

My issue is that she marketed MCC as a 'club' not just merch. Those who bought the products therefore expected more than the product itself, but to feel involved in some sort of 'hustle culture' community or whatever. Eve just made the money and - quite literally - disappeared. They were massively mis-sold in that respect

Yes agreed! She seems much more interested in criminal law than corporate law. It’s becoming more and more apparent that she’s not that down to earth girl and just someone that’s money hungry.

Well corporate law is a very interesting subject actually (there are many sub-branches you can specialise in too!) so I don't see how it's unexpected for Eve to go this route. I was law student myself and I was changed my career plans like multiple times already to end up in corporate too lol. I'm not in UK but here corporate-related career has much better prospects (not only financially but also the possibility to learn from the best, resources, prestige, meeting like-minded people too). Other thing is that criminal law is obviously the most "popular" branch of law also because the media portrayal. Most of my major was at some point at least super interested in the criminal law branch (me too but thankfully stopped) but eventually realised it's not as interesting as everyone thought. There is tons of boring stuff there and going into the criminal law doesn't mean you become a detective and do passionate inspirational speeches in court. Same as people in corporate don't only go there for money. To me it's not boring at all, it's very practice based, you have a chance to see huge transactions "from the inside" and learn how the market works. It gives you tons of knowledge, a very useful in life too. So criminal law might be interesting to the general population, especially as a yt content. I bet not many people would be interested in "How to M&A" contrary to KimK in criminal law or famous trials. It's also connected to the huge true crime community (which I hate tbh - nothing worse than a thumbnail with a sharp photoshopped bad a witch face next to a dead body eaten by click baits).

Yeah she was going on about meet ups and making a whole community and then dropped it and never mentioned it again- which I imagine is frustrating to the people who went to that Bristol meet up. I wonder if the hoodies/coffee cup trailer is still up on her channel but probably not.

To me, it’s not such a bad thing that she’s pretty much dropped Youtube because her work demands more time. If anything, it shows that working hard throughout her degree got her somewhere. I much prefer her to other studytubers whose only personality trait is studying 14 hours a day (although I do miss her content)

Oh it's definitely a respectable choice, but then she should just be honest with her audience. She keeps teasing videos and pulls the "I work a full-time job" card when people ask about them. Elena Handtrack is also studying law and she already said that she won't upload on youtube anymore when she's done with university. I think Eve is a bit afraid of fully committing to the law career yet, so she keeps the youtube option open, and right now uses it as a money grab even tho her job already pays a lot. Also idk if anyone's seen that, but she keeps talking about becoming a comedian on twitter? Lol.

It's literally a gossip site where we share our views on what influencers/youtubers do. Plus, I wasn't criticising her that much for choosing a job that gives her money, more so the fact that it's clearly building up to a pattern of behaviour where she can be seen as greedy and uses YouTube for that extra income, not because she enjoys it or whatever.

For the whole conversation on criminal law being boring compared to say corporate which has many different paths, sure but these criticisms aren't pulled out of thin air by a bunch of people who have never done law and just disagree with it. Again, it's based on videos she has put out. Sure, those people may be completely wrong but I'm sure as a whole gossip sites are wrong on many things

I'd have thought that a magic circle firms would be very 'tempting' (can't think of a better word) for newly qualified solicitors

My understanding is that it gives you a leg up in terms of exit opportunities, by having that magic circle name on your CV. The workload and hours are extremely grinding - similar to how many people will start off at Big Four accountancy firms for the first few years and then seek opportunities elsewhere as it opens a lot of doors. Probably applies to investment banking too e.g with those working at Goldman Sachs.
