Just came across this from her stories but I see nothing but positives; good on Eve. It must be proper scary taking a leap of faith. She's worked hard. My sibling is in law and the amount of studying..........The amount of times I've said 'LEAVE if you're unhappy...' they didn't. I am happy they are now valued at a law firm but any career change is still scary. I'm happy for Eve - I think this pandemic has shown that life is too short - I am going through a situation at my co. where they're constantly fobbing me off so this energy is needed!!! It's nice to have some positives (GUYS - THE ELLE DARBY THREAD IS CARNAGE!)

She's posted about that underwear brand again saying "Yes to more gender fluidity with underwear" but the pics are of two sets, one bright and lacy with a thong and one black with a bit fuller coverage... It's hardly revolutionary. I don't scream from the rooftops every time I see a brand sell skimpy thongs AND fuller coverage briefs cos it's just not that special?

Ah but it’s been gifted so there’s a good chance they have paid something for her to post the story, or she’s been begging brands as I don’t think brands like that would reach out to her

Very good point!!

Interesting, I agree with the comment that it will free up time for her to make sm content and even more 💰 Get your I'm a women of STEM merch 😉
I found the discussion about her promoting corporate law to her audience interesting tbh. Especially as on YouTube, and even to some extent on IG, she has given a very positive view on everything and has 'glamorised' it to a slight extent. I wonder if she will be making a video on this move and why she made the choice in more detail

I see this professional move of hers a reason to unfollow. I liked eve because of her vlogs and her field. Shes lost that

I wonder if she'll lose a substantial amount of her audience as most were only sucked in for the whole Law thing...

I do think the legal industry as a whole is too uptight to retain younger staff, at least in more traditional firms.

I see it in firms all the time, they're anti-work from home and technology generally and would rather micromanage everyone in an office and have endless meetings and a dress code when you could do it all at home in a tracksuit.

I know she shares a lot about herself online but everywhere has become a bit like that. LinkedIn these days is more baby announcements and sob stories than anything career-related.

Tbh I feel like once she stopped studying law people began to lose interest. Both because people tend to be more interested in study vlogs and a lot of those interested were students themselves, and also because her legal vids kind of stopped or became very empty once she started her TC anyways

From Roll on Friday
as someone that worked for a corporate firm, not in law and thankfully not in london, but with almost comparable hours, when a firm offers all this bull it's because you're going to be working such unsociable hours you won't have time to do all these things outside the office. Wow I'm so glad I get a free pick n mix after working a 70 hour week with no extra pay

Honestly, whatever you think of Eve's YT/Influencer content, she is clearly a hard working and motivated person.

I think she's the tip of the iceberg really and it'll come back to bite some of these companies if they don't adapt to the expectations of the upcoming Gen-Z who are not afraid to stand up for themselves and advocate for a work-life balance. No one should be working 80 hours a week and honestly, she's probably far better off in tech earning ~£50k (half of her previous) and being able to have a LIFE. Past a certain point, money doesn't do that much to make you happy. You can't buy more hours in the day or years of your life back.

Absolutely. Things will have to change.

Thought the pandemic would be the start of it but I don't know honestly. Hopefully, she'll explain her choices more online in the future and begin to enjoy life (kind of still inside, it seems) but outside Big Law.

From reading the reddit thread it seemed like she's not even really 'in tech' & there was some skepticism at her describing herself as a 'woman in stem' now. She's still with Linklaters, just in a division that manages an in-house software. It's probably a good stepping stone to a job at a tech company down the line though!

Tbh I took the whole woman in STEM thing as a bit of a joke. There was a sound going around on TikTok that said "I am a woman in STEM" but it was used ironically for situations that are clearly not STEM-related. Although you never know with Eve.
