I'm pretty sure she has Indefinite Leave to Remain (AKA permanent residency) but it's unclear how she got it since she wasn't married to a British citizen or had any ties to the UK. I think she was on a student visa back when she first moved (wasn't she studying psychology online?)

Can you get a student visa for an online degree? I thought they were really strict about it. There's something not quite right about it. I'm sure she has permanent residency now because of her financial position but was she well off when she moved over?
Good point! It's definitely fishy, particularly the fact that she's now self-employed which I imagine makes it even more complicated to get work visas? It's not like she has a big company sponsoring her...
Doesn’t being Canadian make immigrating to the UK easier? I know it’s not like you can just get up and move, but I do believe people from the Commonwealth have an easier time immigrating?
Very true! I know there is a visa category that allows Canadians to come to the UK for a period of time (my friend did it). She might have done that initially and then used it to accrue enough 'time living with her UK citizen partner', which then would have allowed her to get an Unmarried Partner visa through Aslan. I know they definitely talked about how she had an Unmarried Partner visa at some point. These days she 100% has permanent residency, which she would have got just from years of living in the UK on visas. I remember her talking about it a while ago.
Damn, seeing this photo brings back so many memories... I used to absolutely love her back then in the essiebutton days. Now I haven't followed up with her / watched a video in years. She's become so different. I just checked on YouTube and I can't see any of her videos from beyond 2 years ago? Did she just delete everything??! Ughhh that's such a shame I would love to be able to re-watch these cozy essiebutton vlogs.

No. I have personal experience of this without giving too much away. It's why it piqued my interest. People close to me have only been able to come over on visas if they have a particular skill set (graduate, recognised qualification) and she does not appear to have that. I believe you can come over if you are under a certain age though which is what she may have done and would be legit. I would very much question if his status could offer her anything - is he actually a UK citizen. If he is, I very much doubt he got that by going down the standard route *wink*.
Also - I think if you told a Jamaican that they would have an easier time immigrating they would laugh out loud!
Aslan is a UK citizen. I just checked back on GG and she did move over with a Youth Mobility Visa (as a Canadian), and then transformed it into a Partner Visa. So that's what I thought.
It's sickening that we turn away refugees in this country but people like that can buy a passport with no questions asked.

Absolutely! I stopped watching her a few years ago. Her life is so different now, and I can’t really pinpoint what is is about her but I’ve certainly lost all interest. In part, it’s that there’s nothing real about her anymore. I initially stumbled upon her about six years ago (I think?) because I was looking for reviews for a Tarte blush. I can’t imagine watching a video of hers now for a review on something— of course it’s going to be sponsored!
She’s lost all of her relatability. She lives the life of someone so removed from reality and the life of a regular person.
I knew she was a goner as soon as she had that meltdown over her dress at the Baftas. A tantrum if ever there was one.
I watched her recent vlog for some reason. All she did was clean. She just abounded so sad, bored, and empty. I would chalk it up to covid isolation but she was like this before and its not like she hasn't traveled or seen friends.

The thing is if you follow Estee on Instagram you can see she has been doing stuff, she just doesn't want to share it. She clearly wants to keep that part of her life private for whatever reason and so instead we get boring vlogs of her alone, talking to the camera. If you aren't willing to share your activities and your friends (either because they don't want to or because you don't want to) and you live alone there is only so much you can do. Rinse and repeat. Estee has said she is doing some loose form of vlogtober, and I am interested to see if she just gives us 5 min vlogs of her talking to the camera or not. Her heart's not in it anymore.

I personally quite like the mundane vlogs lately. #2020 lol. I think some influencers do the mundane vlogs better than others, and when Estee isn't trying to flog me tit it's an easy watch. I prefer them to her empties / beauty fave videos which are all just things she's been gifted, and then aff linking. There's more honesty in a boring vlog than that.
Completely agree. I'd take a boring vlog doing laundry in your flat any day over a vlog flouncing around Italy or unboxing designer handbags during a pandemic (ahem, Amelia)
She looks like good old Essie Button... the saddest part is that Estee IS a pretty girl but who can tell with the fried, bleached, flat hair, dead expression and shapeless unflattering clothes??
