Not a chance with this month. I've done 6 weeks from lent as alcohol free so I'm giving myself a week between Easter and my birthday to try out a bottle of scotch I've been saving. Then I'm planning on going dry until the summer.

The 'ish' is because with Easter, sunny days and pubs opening it is hard to stay totally sober.

I have friends round tomorrow who i know will bring a bottle so i am going to make that bottle last the entire weekend rather than half a day it normally is done by.

We have a Cornwall holiday the second week of the hols so a caravan in a hot tub is gonna be hard to stay totally sober for...

I’ll be an ‘ish’ my birthday is next sat so will have a couple then and I’m seeing friends I haven’t seen since pre pandemic on 17th so a couple then is guaranteed. Other than that I’ll give it a good old go again 👍🏻

Well I may as well be honest, I’ve fucked up 😂 my dad sent us a 24 pack selection box of IPAs as an Easter gift and I caved to my boyfriend saying oh come on let’s have a drink tonight as I’m off tomorrow and if we have a drink on Sunday I’ve still got to get up at 4am Monday. I had that thing where you start feeling better from being poorly all of a sudden and just felt like a different person 🙈 oh well, I still made it over 6 weeks which is an insane achievement in my book. I’ve had 3 of the IPAs, gonna have one more then that will be it. Diet is out of the window as my bf has just gone to get chinese. Intend to carry on as before and probably won’t bother with alcohol on Easter Sunday now. Well thanks for coming to my confession 😂🤦‍♀️

Thank you ❤ I did stick to my guns and I only had the 4 IPAs, which is an achievement for me I’d usually think duck it and have more than that! Slept okay but my HR was very high on my Apple Watch - probably not helped by the salty/sugary Chinese, I bet my body was like for fucks sake not this again!

Hope you all have a lovely Easter whatever you’re doing 🐰🐣

Happy Easter, sober and sober-ish crew! So chuffed to have made it into the 90s on dry day streak but I am breaking it this weekend... parents have stocked up on bubbly for Easter and it feels like the right time to let go a bit.

I am aiming overall this year for more dry days than drinking ones which I think I probably used to do pre-pandemic (only drinking with other people and I live alone so generally never drank at home unless I was hosting) but now I’m tracking it I want to be sure.

I have met up with friends outside a couple of times this week and actually enjoyed not drinking... less likely to need a wee in the park if I’m sipping fizzy water instead of downing wine 😂

So until today I hadn’t had a drink since New Year’s Eve! Had half a glass of Prosecco (saw my parents today for the first time since October, so felt like a worthy occasion. I’m aiming for a max of 3 drinking days in April, but kind of a bit sad I broke the streak haha.

Drank a bit too much last year so did dry January and kind of continued since then with 4 or 5 exceptions 😉. I quite like not waking up with a groggy head. Also trying to do more fitness stuff.

Guys I have managed to socialise without getting drunk! Had friends in the garden today and I was totally happy with one cider and the rest just 0% wine!

Went to the local Coop looking for a non alcoholic wine, and they had none. So I ended up with a bottle of Lambrini, which was the lowest alcohol I could find 6%, and 4.5 units per bottle. I probably last drank this 20 years ago. Can anyone recommend a decent alcohol free wine, and where did you buy it? Thanks.

I’ve ended Up having 4 gin and tonics tonight. (4 percent cans)

91 days so far drink free, will have tonight as the above and get back to no booze. my Weigh in For next week will be interesting as I’m positive the booze is one of the main reasons forfinding it hard to get the weight shifted

I’ve been doing this for three weeks now but I cannot stop snacking. Probably been asked lots before but did anyone else get hungrier when giving up alcohol? I’d save calories for evening drinks so when I stopped I thought I’d be in a negative but now I can’t stop reaching for the cupboard despite allowing myself to eat better due to the lack of alcohol calories 😩

Absolutely. Replacing one with another. Developed sweet tooth, passion for cheese, hot cross buns, you name it. Ive Gained weight when went completely dry for couple of months. It sucks.
saw so many people enjoying themselves drinking in the parks/beach today. Almost gave in. But decided to buy carrot sticks instead. bleeping boring.

For me, I think it is due to lack of sugar.
I never had a sweet tooth until I got pregnant, no wine and then suddenly I had a craving for chocolate and ice cream every day!

Oh wow, so it must be a thing! (I haven’t read up so sorry to be a captain obvious). The alcohol sugar makes sense as I usually only drink Diet Coke and eat two savoury meals. I’m always having pudding after dinner now when I never bothered before, as well as drinking tea. I just need to stop eating boxes of bourneville chocolate fingers like they’re a packet of crisp 🤣 wish tesco would stop putting them on offer.

But well done everyone! Great tips on the threads I’ve read. Nearly caved today but stayed strong 😥

Everyone has been doing brilliantly, making massive improvements! Well done guys 💕

It’s month 4 for me, which I can’t quite believe! I don’t think I will never not have a drink but I feel like it will be very rarely and only one or two. I am too scared of the hangover, I cannot cope with them now I’m in my 30’s 🤣

I did end up having a drink yesterday, had 4 beers from 3pm til we ate about 6.15pm then I had a very small glass of red with my food - then called it a day! I know that’s still way too many units (about 9) as per the guidelines but it was an achievement for me as I’m usually very much in for a penny in for a pound and would have at least finished off the bottle of red and another been opened after that possibly with it being bank holiday. I feel like my habits have actually changed for the better having spent over 9 weeks in total this week not having a drink at all. Back on the wagon now 😊 happy to be doing so without a hangover!
