#1 how do you know it's a paramedic?
#2 how do you know it's a man ?
Also vital half hour from hospital via helicopter isn't going to save you , by time the helicopter launches lands gets an ambulance to load the patient to the helicopter, lands on the pad at the hospital, get an ambulance to transport to the hospital your looking at more than a half hour .....
I actually read the posts and assumed it was a female! The bitchy tone doesn't sound like a man to me#1 how do you know it's a paramedic?

The persons comments allude to them being a paramedic and being a colleague. They seem to be pissed off that she's undermining their work. They've mentioned a few times about working with your colleagues and scare mongering that paramedics and advanced paramedics have skills and she's making out that unless there's a doctor there you're going to die and she's making them out to be useless#1 how do you know it's a paramedic?

Advanced paramedics can perform needle decompression for "collapsed lung " Advanced paramedics can also do RSI . Cardiac arrest is run the very same pre hospital as it is in a resus room. So while I'm very much aware it's not the speed of the transport, people are falling for her speil about needing a Dr , 100% there will be a case where a blood transfusion may be needed during transport but that's far and few between. The persons comments allude to them being a paramedic and being a colleague. It's not the speed of the transport its getting a doctor on site so if a doc can get to the person and stabilise them theyve a better chamce of survival. so say if someone needs to be put to sleep you need a doctor to do that, it does save lives in the likes of a cardiac arrest or say a car accident where someone needs a procedure for collapsed lungs.
She just comes accross so rude and condescending, I'd imagine she rubs a lot of people up the wrong way. Surprised the hse hasn't told her to shut up yet
Why is that ? Are pre hospital crews not capable of treating???????Which is why having a doctor there is a good thing

I asked you a question !!!! why is it a good thing to have a Dr , rather then the pre hospital crews ? I'm genuinely interested in your answer!!!Is that what I said?
she always comes across that way!The sister has deleted a lot of her comments on the posts. Probably a good move as engaging just gives energy to the page. Plus she came across as slightly cray-cray
The Dr is coming on the helicopter though so wont be first at the sceneWhich is why having a doctor there is a good thing

I think as a member of the general public it frightens me that she's saying everyone dies coz a Dr isn't there. The persons comments allude to them being a paramedic and being a colleague. I am aware. For clarity I am referring to a HEMS doctor on board as a good thing in these senarios. The Dr is coming on the helicopter though so wont be first at the scene
It is but there is a system in place in Ireland. Due to Ireland being an island even landing a helicopter in places would be difficultAh look there has to be some advantages otherwise why would other countries be doing it, but she's just comes accross so arrogant and full of her self importance so she's the wrong person to be fronting any group.
Rural areas could definitely do with have better access to emergency medical care
My dad had a cardiac arrest in a rural setting and it took 30 mins for a first responder to arrive with a defibrillator, then the nearest hospital was another 1 hour drive and they didn't have a specialised cardiac unit. Whole system is a shambles
It's the disadvantage of living in rural Ireland unfortunately, there can't be a base close to everyone , it's the same in Australia where I have a relative a Dr on the helicopter there for the last twenty years . The helicopter is deployed to cardiac arrests and major trauma where appropriate but the helicopter is all weather dependent too. I absolutely agree that having a multidisciplinary team is obviously golden standard but I think it's mind boggling to belittle the current evolving service we have here which is actually free for the public .Ah look there has to be some advantages otherwise why would other countries be doing it, but she's just comes accross so arrogant and full of her self importance so she's the wrong person to be fronting any group.

I dont get why she hasn't gone in with the other doctors that are currently responding on a voluntary basis. There was a tv program about it a while ago. Why is she going alone with the proposal? It's the disadvantage of living in rural Ireland unfortunately, there can't be a base close to everyone , it's the same in Australia where I have a relative a Dr on the helicopter there for the last twenty years . I can't say anything bad about the National ambulance service as I'm sure 99% of people who have dealt with them professionally or personally so would be of a similar opinion .
