I think it’s totally right that if someone strong took a stand she couldn’t do much but I do worry that she surrounds herself with people who she thinks she can control and how hard it must be to work in the kind of environment she has created.

I am really shocked by the messages Jaimi’s Mum made. I really did hope that she was staying close to keep an eye on Jaimi so that Jess couldn’t totally isolate her but it appears that she too is under the Jess spell. I honestly don’t get how people aren’t seeing through her bull. Once you start to get your doubts and really look at her she’s transparent.

The idea that Julie Bindel could be envious of Jessica Taylor is so ludicrous I can't fathom how anyone believes it. It wouldn't surprise me if it was the other way round - Jess has always seemed very keen to ingratiate herself with distinguished people/lay claim to celebrity friends, and I suspect she'd love to have Julie's standing and public profile. (I also think she'd quite like Julie's approval - she certainly wasn't complaining when she got shortlisted for the Emma Humphreys Prize, which Julie founded!) I'm starting to think that Victim Focus is a little bubble and those inside see it as much bigger and more important than it is. There's no other way to account for why Mandy thinks a veteran feminist journalist with five books (actual books, not notebooks with one sentence at the head of each page) would be envious of a woman whose success is setting up an MLM with a snazzy web presence.

Jessica has to have a story as to why the experts in her field are either silent in their praises, or raising questions.

She pushes the idea that there is a “feminist conspiracy” wanting to pull her down. Utterly ridiculous and playing on inaccurate troupes that feminism is ‘witchy’. Mandy also pushes this. It’s ridiculous.

Jessica claims that Fiona Broadfoot, Karen Ingala Smith have all taken a huge disliking to her for reasons she can’t fathom. It’s upsetting to hear these activists being bad mouthed with no right to reply.

It also plays nicely into her narrative that she and Jaimi are being bullied by older feminists who are all bitter and jealous of young women (which is a misogynistic and ageist trope, everything Jess says she hates.) Fiona Broadfoot campaigns for abolition of the sex industry, remind me what is Jess's stance this week? Is it "I'm a radical feminist and hate the sex industry" or is it "I'm an ex-sex worker cuz I slept with my bank manager once, now look at these photos of me with my bum out?"

I recall her meeting Julie Bindel a few years ago and getting a book signed by her. She happily posted pictures of this in the group we belonged to.

To be fair I think she's always been consistently in favour of abolition. She brings up sleeping with her bank manager as a way to silence women in the sex industry who are pro-decrim, by suggesting that her lived experience trumps theirs. The a photos are apparently supposed to be some deep and meaningful celebration of lesbian visibility, which feels like a stretch.

Julie Bindel, an OG second wave feminist who has decidated her life to helping women and girls, jealous of Jess who has done little more than abandon her kids, obtain a moderate Twitter following, lie on her CV and self-publish some books that don't stand up to academic scrutiny? Rightio then 🤣🤣🤣

How vile! I know someone that was at the wedding and apparently even in their vows there was reference to how well they’ve adapted to being in the public eye together and so on. Cringe. She’s clearly just desperate to be famous.

I think, by all accounts Julie was very supportive of her & her first book- I think she did a review or gave a quote for the cover?

Sleeping with her bank manager?
That sounds like a sketchy plot line from a bad film.

Don't believe for a minute that this happened. It was never mentioned in the group we belonged to. The only time I ever read about it was in that newspaper article about inspirational teenage mothers.

😢

I remember this- the now notorious VICTIM FOCUS LTD work WhatsApp. Shameful. And I’m ashamed to say I was in this.

To see people who are supposedly trauma informed being so flippant and cruel. One of these women, calling SA names and going to her presentations incognito was previously an IDVA 😯.

But Jessica did more than just sit back and watch. By this point Jessica had whipped them up into a frenzy, lying consistently about Sally Ann.

Here she is lying about SA, giving yet another version of events that she has since backtracked on. (She now admits that SA’s personal history of abuse is in her book).

Jessica adds in details about lawyers and later being up all night with police to really give the impression that her and Jaimi are in some kind of danger. The bare faced audacity to make up such disgusting lies. And lies about the very vulnerable woman she has exploited. DARVO.

These screen grabs directly precede the conversation about staff going (on work time) to spy on/bully SA when she was speaking at a webinar.

It's the bare-facedness of the lies that gets me. Sally Ann shared a screenshot of the personal story that she messaged to Jess, which clearly shows that it appeared word for word in Why Women are Blamed for Everything. It's such an unusual experience she had, not at all a story that's common to so many women that she could have mistaken herself for someone else. Do VF employees not see that? Are they so deep in denial, or just unaware of all the evidence Sally Ann provided? Surely they must have at least cottoned on to the fact that Jess has been using multiple contradictory excuses, starting with "She isn't in the book and she's lying" and ending with, "She's in the book but she consented"?

I'm also sceptical, especially as it would have been 2008 at the very earliest when Jess could have been old enough for a loan, and by then a lot of banking had already shifted online. By that point it was unlikely you'd have a personal contact at the bank to deal with your business - it would be automated processes/a talk with whatever customer service person happened to be in branch on the day. It could have happened (I'm wary of falling for the 'good victim' trope and disbelieving her because of her own abusive behaviour) but it's an unlikely thing.

She really did NOT like having an actual, current sex worker point out that Jess has never really been in the sex industry or had to rely on it to survive

I think a lot of the staff have twigged that SA is telling the truth. It is a source of anxiety for many.

There seem to be a fair few (ex)-staff on here already, which makes me wonder if 90% of VictimFocus is on Tattle. I expect that will be the next unenforceable clause people have to sign - "No sharing what I said anywhere else".

Oh I’m sure that will definitely happen. Alternatively Jess you could accept that you can’t control everyone and focus on controlling yourself and the things that you say or do 🤷🏼‍♀️
