I thought it was a great routine but really don’t understand why it’s being labelled as a BLM dance. I might have interpreted it wrong but to me it seemed like a narrative on 2020 as a whole and the BLM section was just one part of it? I personally thought they mentioned ‘the virus’ more than BLM 🤷🏻‍♀️ I loved it thought it was very original compared to what you usually see on tv
I agree with you but this thread has shown how even the slightest hint of BLM can cause deep division and anger. Depressing.

In all honesty if he's getting abuse and it's to do with racism then it will affect his children lol, why leave them out of it? I reckon they will grow up and want to know they were actively part of fighting bigots. I'm sure a lot of those trolls brought his children into it before so, I don't think this point holds.
we can agree to disagree, that’s totally fine, I know if I was receiving horrific abuse from racist trolls online I wouldn’t clap back at them using a photo of my kids.

that’s just me

Unpopular opinion here. But I'm actually sick of hearing about black lives matter. And this and the footballers taking the knee still.
Like I get it people are still racist. But you are always going to get racist people. I've heard black people be racist against white people. And people are racist against Asians. It's always going to happen unfortunately. You can't wipe history and people were alot more racist in the past.
And as for people complaining. For god sake get a life. Ive watched plenty of TV and made moaning comments to family members and friends. I have never and will never write to ofcom or any other TV body and complain about the TV programme. These people have way too much time on their hands!

footballers taking the knee will end very quickly once fans return to stadiums..!

And hahah agree on the last bit - I don’t know where people find the time to actually complain

Imagine being sick of hearing about BLM. It must be almost as bad as being sick of being victims of racism.

Oh...

Oh...
What an utterly ridiculous thing to say. Being sick of hearing about a let’s face it tiny and fundamentally flawed movement that made white people feel better on social media cannot possibly be compared to being a victim of racism.

I think that was her point. People are ‘sick’ of hearing about racism, or equality movements.. well imagine how sick of experiencing racism people are. Not that she was conflating the two, more that she was pointing out what a ridiculous thing ‘I’m sick of hearing about racism’ is to say.

I see Jim Davidson has made an attempt to be relevant and had a rant about the dance. I'm not going to link to it but it's as you'd imagine it would be 🙄

As a white woman I have been subjected to racism. Mainly by Asian males.
People are quick to forget racism works both ways.

I’m sorry that happened to you. You will of course agree that any racism is unacceptable and agree that any awareness raised is a good thing then.

Thanks! I thought it was obvious but I appreciate you explaining what I meant.

I think it’s important to point out that racism is more than experiencing some crappy comments, though of course that is part of it.

yes, white people experience prejudiced comments as well. Of course. But much of the current BLM discourse refers to the deep, structural, instituational racism that black people experience.

a good example of this can be found in the excellent article below. It is a wide-ranging piece of research that digs into the issue of black maternal and infant mortality rates in the US. It is an excellent piece of long form journalism:

Of course ITV were going to apologise no matter how the head people behind apologising felt. If they did not apologise, imagine the uproar from that.

As for the whole BLM movement, I'm all for stomping out racism against black people but I've seen a spike in racism to white people since this movement. Many comments (even on here) have been pretty hateful and aggressive in their tone against "the whites" but if the boot was on the other foot would cause uproar and be removed which is quite unfair as BLM is supposed to be about equality. I'm not saying racism against black people does not happen, but I'd say in more recent times most racism spiked since Brexit and towards Europeans (Romanians, Czechs, Polish etc) and now the BLM movement started has shot the issues and situations with black people back up.

Also, I see people (even on my Facebook) share pretty racist jokes and memes about asians and black people but then five minutes later post the BLM stuff and how equal they should be treated to whites, and it comes across quite hypocritical and bandwagon like when before they were posting pretty racist memes. Seems like people bring up racism when it suits them.

That’s a false narrative the media want you to believe.. to continue the division ...Yes there are instances where black men are stopped and searched because of skin colour .....but none in England have been shot ....and for the ones in America that are I truly believe they did not comply with police officers and to be honest I’d expect the same result if anyone of any skin colour did not comply .....let’s take George Floyd out of this as that officer was completely in the wrong!! 100% and was not justified at all!!!
But police have a really difficult job and sometimes split decisions have to be made ! Comply and stop resisting if you are stopped is all I’m saying .
There are countless people who have been murdered shot tased etc in the uk following stop and search so I would say you are misinformed on that part.

I don’t watch BGT, but I can imagine it would be nice to watch a Saturday night entertainment show without having politics shoved down your throat.

This comment and how people say politics should be kept out of sport are the same thing.

Politics affects each part of our daily lives and if it not represented in every aspect of our lives then it is not a true accurate representation of anyone’s life.

I think if people were bothered about a Dance they are clearly racists.

As a mixed half white half Jamaican 32 year old, I’m actually so disappointed at the black community and how they are going about this issue. I feel they are just throwing it down everyone’s throats and as previously stated anyone who has a different view point is instantly racist! The community are almost proving the point of the true racist Bigots buy blanket stereotyping all white (or different view point) as racists and saying how bad the UK is. Dressing in black panther style military style scaring older folks?????? Really????? And In my personal experience it’s 9/10 white spoilt trust fund university students always protesting on behalf of the BLM movement ....😴😴😴😴 Now feminism or me too is not flavour of the month!!!
my white mothers family who are not at all racist as we are a well mixed family with interracial relationships are upset and tired of being labeld racist and made to feel bad and guilty for the history of their ancestors....madness!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for BGT sorry but no place for political statements such as this! not a family show.... it was purely for shock value and ratings! George Floyd was nothing to with the UK firstly so let’s keep our noses out of American matters .....and secondly can you imagine a depiction of the say the James buldger murder ....on America’s got talent .....a totally unrelated freak event that didn’t take place in that country but the country in uproar over it??? Hope that analogy Makes sense..... All lives matter to me not just my black families but my white also .......and next saying that does not deminish the history of the black community or the genuine racism felt today but the more we divide the less chance of ever healing this wound and that is a sad fact!!!
check out candance Owens she is a queen!!!!!
So much respect for this comment 👏🏻👏🏻

So a black lady has "joked" about killing white people. Which is definatley racism. Wheres the up roar for this?
As I said before racism isn't just against black people.
Two cops in California, both shot in the head. A woman 31, and a man 24.
Both in ICU, fighting for their lives.
BLM are blocking the emergency room, chanting 'Die Whitey!!'
Not covered by the media here, but they would be losing their minds if it was the other way around.
Racism is racism, it's not unique to white people.

Why can't people just get along with each other. The past is history now. People have travelled and settled in different parts of the world, and so all this hatred needs to stop.

If ever there was a movement needed, it would be this, to get along together.
