I always remember the poster CornishPiskie* who used to go into the football forum and remind them all that football is a load of overpaid toss. It used to drive them all up the wall. The moderation on that forum was quite something, over the top in some boards and totally missing in others.
*I think she(?) eventually got banned for going onto a Vietnam film thread and talking about the atrocities committed in the war and how Rambo, The Deer Hunter, We Were Soldiers et al, never included these.

I can’t believe how fun and lively DS used to be and now it’s a shell of its former self, a dull, boring, echo chamber with mostly humourless posters left and mods that are too quick with the ban hammer, whilst letting others run riot and post what they like without impunity.

Used to love DS, not just for the forums but generally. However, it all began to go a bit pear shaped some 18 months ago when everything became all too serious for some, and infractions were dished out right left and centre, to the extent where you dare not speak your mind even in a friendly humours way in case it provoked the ire of the Watchers.
So I quit a few months ago, and am glad to have found a site like this. Feels like a second home, yet this is my very first post, and the first of many I hope.

I've been on here for about 6 weeks and it definitely does feel like a 2nd home. I've rarely (if ever) seen anyone confrontational which is great.I think DS went pear shaped even earlier than that. I joined there in 2015 and the first 2 years were fine. It began to take a slight downward turn towards the end of 2017 and then took an absolute nosedive in 2018. By the end of 2019, it was a total cesspit and I'm surprised I stayed there as long as I did. Decided to quit there for good as a New Years resolution this year and have never looked back.
I think a lot of the old users moved on while most of the trolls didn't plus many new users seemed to cause trouble.
I think I joined in early 2018, so I really can't compare how it was like before then. Such a shame it went downhill so suddenly and so quickly. Absolutely no need for it really. But its still trudging along, so I guess its not on its knees just yet.Welcome!

Sad to say she passed away on the 5th October, I'm embarrassed that I've only just found this out, she was a friend on FB.
All that was said that she died suddenly.
Another DS refugee here - after having my posts relentlessly picked to pieces because I had a different opinion to the mob, being told to explain every single word of each of my posts, having my posts cherry picked and selectively re-quoted and basically feeling I was under attack by a pack of wild dogs who just keep on until their victim gives up or snaps back, I'm temporarily banned for calling the pack trolls! I contacted the forum support to ask why they condone bullying on their forums and seem to actively encourage it by never dealing with the main offenders, but they haven't responded.
As people have said on here, DS has turned into a humourless pit which drags even the most cheerful member down which is a shame because you used to be able to have a laugh on there but most of the interesting contributors have either been banned or had the sense to leave and the place is dominated by a bunch of sanctimonious pedants with no sense of humour. I've been a member there since 2006 with no problems and yet in the last year or so, I've had countless warnings and bans for not going along with the popular opinions.
