And you are very welcome, seems like in the past few days I've noticed a number of newbies popping up here, more from DS?
At least here you can say the word "duck". :ROFLMAO:
Thank you, it's nice to be here.

I've lost track of what you can and can't say on DS lately - it seems to change by the day or by which mod/forum member is in charge that day :)

Yep, that's the problem, you can't express your opinion without thinking really hard about it and a couple of words can cost you dearly.
You will find here on Tattle many subjects that would be not allowed on DS, as long as you keep within the guidelines here you will be
okay.

That's good to here and sounds how a discussion forum should be rather than just an echo chamber with the same people saying the same thing day in and day out

I'm completely convinced DS was infiltrated by Momentum and that's why things have got SO bad there now for anyone who doesn't follow the herd. The thread in Politics about Corbyn being suspended says it all when it comes to what a depserate echo chamber the forums have been turned into.

That would explain a lot - I did hear that some of the most prolific posters were in fact mods which would explain why some were getting away with so much.

In 2017 or thereabouts there was an invitation for people to apply to become moderators, IIRC. I'd say that's when the rot really set in beyond repair, as you can only imagine the sort of posters who would actually want to moderate the place.

Those with nothing else to do and who have never had any power in their life or are very henpecked - I think you're probably right

Another DS refugee here - after having my posts relentlessly picked to pieces because I had a different opinion to the mob, being told to explain every single word of each of my posts, having my posts cherry picked and selectively re-quoted and basically feeling I was under attack by a pack of wild dogs who just keep on until their victim gives up or snaps back, I'm temporarily banned for calling the pack trolls! I contacted the forum support to ask why they condone bullying on their forums and seem to actively encourage it by never dealing with the main offenders, but they haven't responded.

As people have said on here, DS has turned into a humourless pit which drags even the most cheerful member down which is a shame because you used to be able to have a laugh on there but most of the interesting contributors have either been banned or had the sense to leave and the place is dominated by a bunch of sanctimonious pedants with no sense of humour. I've been a member there since 2006 with no problems and yet in the last year or so, I've had countless warnings and bans for not going along with the popular opinions.
I joined in 2008 and like you, posted for over a decade with no warnings or bans whatsoever. After the “makeover” (awful, btw) and the advertising for members to become mods as someone else mentioned, I suddenly got two in the space of two days and then banned. My posting style hadn’t changed and I didn’t insult anyone (tbh, in the ten or so years I was there I don’t think I racked up more than 2500 posts anyway, I was more of a reader). It’s so soulless and crappy now.

I still maintain that they won’t be around after 2021. I honestly don’t know how some of them would cope with that. 😬

I remember that. I’ll see if I can try and find the advert/message. I know one member who is a mod because 1) they messed up one time and posted a message from “support” but it was from their own account but quickly amended and the few posts that brought it up were quickly removed and 2) they had a habit of cleaning up a thread and posting a message from support, and then the next “normal” message would be from their account, or that user would post in the thread on their account, then the thread would be cleaned followed by a message from support.

I know on really old threads, users were normal users but moderators as well and would sign off their moderator posts with “DigitalSpy Ltd”

That makes a lot of sense. Some posters are beyond rude and can hound others relentlessly and get away with it. Others mind their own business, post an opinion and are banned with no explanation.

Tell me about it, had a couple of posters who constantly posted smartarse remarks on my posts, some of which were insulting, even reporting these posters had no effect, DS did duck all. Glad I'm outta there, talk about double standards.

I did begin to think the problem was with me but having read a lot of reviews about DS and now coming on here, there's too many people saying the same thing. The general consensus on DS by the 'in crowd' is that whoever gets banned or gets a warning has deserved it so the problems there are never going to be resolved.

I was on DS for a few years but wasn't a prolific poster which is an excuse for some of the usual suspects on DS to have a go for some unfathomable reason. I was warned for disagreeing with a well known poster who was being very insulting to "gammons" and thought she was hilarious until I insulted her and she threw her toys out of the pram. I've been having a look at some posts on the cesspit that is the Politics forum and was following a poster who had a different viewpoint to the majority and I knew that she'd be gone soon. There was the usual pile-on of the school bullies and sure enough, this morning, she's banned. It's as clear as the nose on your face what's going on in the echo chamber, but I can't understand why any posters would only want agreement and back pats on a discussion forum. They're a set of sad gits.

I’ve seen posts on Politics full of self-congratulation and condescending “funny how no Tories/Brexiters/Gammoners don’t show up here anymore to defend their views”. Erm, yeah, because you got them all banned, that’s why.

Can you remember who the poster was?

The banned poster? It was Helenbemerry. She always stood her corner but they've got her banned in the end.
Thank you for getting back to me - I'm actually Helenbemerry so I did wonder if it was me you were talking about. Thank you for saying what you did, sometimes you feel like you're going mad on there. I just get so frustrated when they're coming at you from all angles and end up getting tied up in in knots and losing track of who I'm actually responding to and I noticed the mods have deleted a lot of my posts.

I didn't like to say who I was on DS in case everyone hated me so would give me a wide berth on here :sneaky:

I have to stop myself saying usernames on here in case anybody has joined and I insult them without realising (not you lol). I just had a cheeky look at your last posts and saw the mob that was attacking you - really not surprised at all by some of the names on there. It’s far more friendly here.
