I seem to remember a poster back on Holby.tv who created entire background of an ill child - I seem to remember the child even died.

This went on for YEARS and people got very involved in it (there were even pictures posted of this child and IIRC another baby when the 'mother' gave birth again. She was heralded as such a brave and strong teenage mother. I can't remember if the baby was poorly too, I don't think so.

Then it came out that she'd been making it up and the entire site blew up. I seem to remember she was called a form of Lottie/Charlotte ? I don't know if anyone else can remember it/used HTV? I'm thinking back about a decade-ish so I could be remembering some of the smaller details incorrectly - it's just a brief memory that came to me earlier.

Did anyone get caught on DS for anything similar?

A soap forum would be great if it was busier here. DS Soaps is awful now, why do they bother watching if they hate them so much? You can't even have a discussion without it turning into an argument and it's too clique.

I've noticed that. Someone on this thread said something to which I've noticed now as well; the cliquey posters rewrite the non clique comments and get all the discussion, whilst they all ignore the original posters. Didn't notice that spitefulness until pointed out on here, can't unsee on basically every thread over there now!

I wouldn't waste any pity on her/him. They seem quite content in their place over there. Have a look in the thread about shops going down, she is an expert ya know, people pay her a fortune for her opinions, so she won't discuss it with plebs who know nothing lol! Lockdown boredom has got me, went on delve last night, some her posts are ridiculous! There's a thread about wedding plans, and she derails it with stories of her divorce outfit?!

Her writing style reminds me of a trashy novel!

Used to love DS, not just for the forums but generally. However, it all began to go a bit pear shaped some 18 months ago when everything became all too serious for some, and infractions were dished out right left and centre, to the extent where you dare not speak your mind even in a friendly humours way in case it provoked the ire of the Watchers.

So I quit a few months ago, and am glad to have found a site like this. Feels like a second home, yet this is my very first post, and the first of many I hope.

Welcome! I've been on here for about 6 weeks and it definitely does feel like a 2nd home. I've rarely (if ever) seen anyone confrontational which is great.

I think DS went pear shaped even earlier than that. I joined there in 2015 and the first 2 years were fine. It began to take a slight downward turn towards the end of 2017 and then took an absolute nosedive in 2018. By the end of 2019, it was a total cesspit and I'm surprised I stayed there as long as I did. Decided to quit there for good as a New Years resolution this year and have never looked back.

I think a lot of the old users moved on while most of the trolls didn't plus many new users seemed to cause trouble.

They are potentially even worse than DS in terms of biased mods. There is one who just literally yells "bigot" at anyone who doesn't have the most right-on opinion possible, no matter the subject.

It all kicked off on the Classic Coronation Street thread a few days ago, I'm not sure what happened but a few users have been banned , see post #5 https://forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/2402663/classic-coronation-street-discussion-part-7/p1

It was basically baggage being dragged over from the the "Simon Hate" thread mentioned a couple of pages back, and the Classic Corrie thread where someone complained about too much talking about biscuits or something.

Daisydee made a light reference to the Simon thread and a user (I think called Angel something) kicked off and just started attacking her for it, even telling her to f**k off in one post. It was clear that some beef had gone down between them as Angel just carried on having a go all afternoon. Everyone else (apart from Korner Kabin, who stuck up for themselves after Angel started on them) just stayed out of. I think it's unfair that Daisy got banned because she wasn't really reacting to Angel's posts but hey-ho, that's DS moderation for you.

There was one thread about Katie Price which went on and on and on with members posting the most vile comments about her, really nasty personal comments and that thread was allowed to run for ages before it was eventually closed and yet other threads are shut down pretty much on day one, there is no consistency in DS moderation.

Anyone got any thoughts on the poster fairyprincess0, who claims to be trans but I strongly suspect is just a fetish freak looking to shock? Some of what they post is so creepy and does a great disservice to actual trans people. I am amazed they've never been banned. In one thread just now they've "joked" they'd be arrested if they donated their laptop to a school.

I've seen this today. That's seriously creepy and suspicious. People like this piece of work should be banned and investigated. Bet they're not though.

It's descended into a pack hunt as a couple of users have pointed out the clique herd. Become really nasty, insults and bullying aplenty.
