Problem with Fiend

I have just had my room repainted (this was done 2 years ago) and the last time it was done I bought myself a 22" LG TV to go on my desk.

Not allowed to buy something I really want - any advice?

Right, I know this sounds silly but for a few weeks I have been trying to get hold of a particular book I really wanted.

These are two of my all time favourite threads there because I think both posters were actually totally serious, bless 'em.

I've noticed Tanya has been quiet for a few days... Has anyone come across her on a thread or has she been banned?

She posted briefly on dogs and was all sweetness and light.
Just a few posts and nothing exciting, but she got short shrift. The dogs owner takes no shit and wasn't letting her pontificate without joining up as it wastes his time scanning through posts from 'guests' for anything dodgy. She chose not to join(so far anyway). Wise decision. On dogs she would never ever get away with the crap she pulls on DS, the doggies would rip her to shreds and the owner would let them.
Seemingly she has had her arse smacked in some way on DS.Hence her taking a break.

Does anybody else think that there is something odd about Fairyprincess?

I've never taken much notice of them personally but I've heard others say it.

I find RobinofLoxley a bit strange - there's a thread about the guy that got injured during a mountain rescue and Robin's comments on there are very odd. He reminds me of Tanya in a way as they both have a habit of going off on a tangent and relating some tale that bears no resemblance to the topic of the thread.

On another note, old DaisyDee appears to be still banned after the fracas in the Classic Corrie thread last week, whilst the instigator AngelMarie87 is back after what appears to be just a week's ban. I hope DaisyDee's not on a permanent ban because she quite pleasant and harmless and had been on the site for 16+ years.

That will probably mean a lifetime ban then. DS doesn't like people that are pleasant and been on the site for years

It used to be if someone was downright homophobic/racist/abusive you could see why they had been banned but these days it's for the most bizarre things.

The situation with Tanya1982 and the amount of alerts she has racked up, and the way she seems to control the forums is one of the strangest things I've ever seen.

Does anyone have any theories on what might be going on? Is "she" (if anyone was a candidate for a 15 stone middle aged trucker trolling as female, Tanya is it!) a mod in disguise having some sort of mental break? Only thing that makes any sort of sense to me!

I've thought right from her first post that she was a fat, middle-aged guy called Olaf, typing away in his parents' basement. If that's not the case then she is, to say the least, a fantasist and probably worse. I once had a post pulled from the "Trivial Annoyances" thread because I wrote "Narcissists" and this was assumed (wrongly) to be directed at Tanya1982. Does everyone else see the irony in that?

Mind you, that doesn't explain how she gets away with it.

Oh, I see that Tanya1982's post where she slags off the other members of the forum has been removed. I suppose that's some kind of progress. Sort of.

Sadly it's killed it for a lot of people - as I've said before, it's a game for some to get people banned by constantly reporting them and the mods are either too stupid to see what's happening or too scared to go up against the clique.

The bans I have received have been for the most ridiculous things and was what made me question the whole moderation. I literally read every post twice before I post now and some threads I just don't bother with at all these days. Not exactly fun.

Enjoying life here though.

I've encountered this guy on many occasions over the years and how he hasn't been banned yet really baffles me. He's literally a broken record and just posts the same stuff over and over again.

I don’t know when and why they stopped but they used to display that they were a DS mod when shutting down threads or keeping them on track. But they were from their own accounts, not “Support”.

There was a thread about JK what'sherface about the comments she made on twitter, the thread was closed and at least 8 people BANNED.

There was a thread about the bans but the thread was pulled within minutes.

I am still a DSer but found tattle after PS (Schofield) wasn't allowed for discussion (in their defense - legalities). Worst I didn't ever follow PS, it's the Streisand effect!

I used to venture in into the SCD spoiler thread as I have no patience but the pretend tea, cake ,wine was not for me , I just used to refresh the last page till the result came up. I've just got a permanent ban after being a member for nearly 15 years after a brief exchange with the charming BanglaRoad on the TalkRADIO thread - apparently it's trolling, being unconstructive and derailing a thread to point out that people have different opinions and you can only make an informed one yourself by hearing different points of views. That apparently is a ban worthy offence while telling someone to fuck off because you don't agree with them is perfectly acceptable. I think the only way to not get banned is to throw 'gammon', 'they know what they voted for' and 'all Brexiters and Tories are scum' into every post and you're fine.

Sounds like nothing has changed on DS.

My word that Straker comes across as a colossal self righteous shit brick.

I’ve been banned from DS for a while but I don’t think that’s correct tbh, unless they’ve changed things since. IIRC contacting support is more like a PM. Vanillaforums, which DS runs on since its makeover confirms how alerts work though, especially the underlined part:

Thanks for explaining that - as I said, I only reported a post on a handful of occasions and this has proved it but it's a bit embarrassing for some now they know everyone can see how often they've been reporting other posters. It's a pity this didn't come to light before a load of us got banned because of these report-happy people.

There's no consistency whatsoever on DS - they hand out warnings and bans for the most trivial things while allowing certain posters to say what they want, no matter how bad it is, with no comeback. You then have the big red sign saying 'USER BANNED, PLEASE CARRY ON' over the profile picture for everyone to see showing how petty they are that they either feel the need to embarrass the forum member or prove to everyone else how much authority they've got - this seems to be backfiring because they ban so many people because of a certain few who spend all day pushing the report button, that all it does is confirm that they are just minions to the clique who they seem to be scared of.

I also think she's either a mod or at least closely connected to one. I can't believe what she gets away with.
