As a forum they hate being criticised. I don’t know if they still do it but say someone posted a thread saying they didn’t like the layout, or it was too slow or something a faceless mod would always appear to give an arsey response saying that as we use the forum for free then we have no right to complain and then close the thread.

Fred, indeed I was vocal about the Royal pair but...look back and read every post and you will not find attacks on how they look, how they dress et al, my criticisms were and are based on their actions toward the Royal Family and the british people which is very different to the posts on the Katie Price thread do you not think? I got my warning because I posted links about the family which could leave DS open to legal action by the couple I was told by a mod.

'Titty perve', well you have a way with words, not in a good way though. I've looked through the current Harry and Meghan thread and nothing concrete there, just a load of rather nasty speculation and foul language. I won't keep you I'm sure you have lots and lots to add over on that thread where you can flout your penchant for swearing and posts lacking foundation. Bye.

I’ve just found that thread. One poster has claimed that they had a two week ban for mentioning a banned member in passing. Sounds ridiculous, but I can well believe it. It’s such a stupid rule. The mods there are all anonymous as well which I never liked. I think often some of them have a personal vendetta against certain posters, I remember one time they were hacking into posters DMs as well, they denied it but it was fairly obvious as stuff that had been said privately in DMs between people had been used as a reason for banning them. Now that brings all kind of date protection issues doesn’t it?

I'm another D'S refugee. I was a very long time poster but started to find the whole forum suffocating with all the cliques and the banning.

I was sure Veri from the BB forum was a she, she wasn't as bad in the early years but progressively got worse over the years.

Can I ask how you became a mod? Other forums I know the mods have been approached after being posters for a while. I've never known anyone to advertise for mods but then DS is a large, well known forum so I'm not sure how it works on larger sites.

The moderation on DS has killed it for me. It's no fun when you have to think twice about everything you post.
Sadly it's killed it for a lot of people - as I've said before, it's a game for some to get people banned by constantly reporting them and the mods are either too stupid to see what's happening or too scared to go up against the clique.

The Politics forum just goes round and round in circles with the same people saying the same thing day in and day out and anyone with an ounce of intelligence finds it extremely boring and, if they haven't already been banned, doesn't bother posting there anymore.

Tanya being her usual classy self in the Prince Philip thread. Whatever one thinks of the bloke is it that hard to show the most basic respect to any 99 year old who is ill and in hospital during a pandemic? I have never understood people who need to shock all the time, constantly bringing any conversation no matter what the subject down into gutter levels of innuendo. What's that all about beyond the obvious answer of attention seeking?

On another I can never decide if SeagullNipple (formally known as starry_rune) is serious with their banging on about chalet parks, eradicating Covid-19 in six weeks even though you'd still need at least some activity to keep the country running like engineers working and supermarkets open, etc...I can never quite decide if this poster is a master troll or just batshit insane. Entertaining though.
For someone who likes to come across as a well travelled, intelligent lady, she does have a tendency to post comments that would be more suited to a spotty adolescent trying to be cool in front of his mates.

You may as well piss in the wind…..

It does however seem to suggest they are trying to manipulate public opinion/narrative by siding with one side of the argument… for example, in the Politics forum, you see a lot of “Come on Brexiters, we’re still waiting for you to talk to us” messages on there, but those very posters and mods have systematically got those people banned so there is no longer a voice for the other side of the argument, thus making it look like no-one can come up with any counter-argument to their rhetoric so the casual browser of the forum might believe that opinion is generally as perceived. And I’m pretty sure that was still happening during the referendum and in elections which isn’t really fair and balanced.

According to the world of DS, everyone is non-binary or LGBT+, a Labour voter, an ardent remainer, absolutely ADORES Classic Corrie, grinds their own coffee, cures their own bacon in their smokehouse, never has a takeaway and insists on making everything from scratch, detests Wetherspoons and reads The Guardian. Not that there is anything wrong at all with the above, however it is just very one sided over there.

They say over there that the current government is corrupt. Well people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Rant over. Now where’s my (instant) coffee…?

It's very bizarre. They just surround themselves with similar thinking people and then are surprised when someone like Boris runs away with the election or Brexit and then can't understand how it happened. Just because you've managed get posters banned or put people off posting doesn't mean those people have gone away or had some sort of epiphany and come round to their way of thinking.

The LBC thread is the strangest place at the moment. I genuinely have no idea what they're talking about these days. It's like they've created their own language. Just look at the last couple of days posts. The irony being those posters are the same ones who used to complain about cliques!

There are still some genuinely great threads on DS and some posters I really like but it's a political cesspit.

For the record, I'm also a fan of instant coffee, takeaways and couldn't give a toss about Classic Corrie :)

I did try a while back but I was denied access, I even set it up on my phone instead of a computer.
Me too. Various mobiles, different networks, even used different WiFi as well. Different email addresses the lot. Would they let me register? Would they fuck! They must have MI5 scrutinise every application lol

Hi everyone, its Justmadeit here, I've just joined this forum. Im a long time member of digital spy (17 years) same name on there (Justmadeit) and am currently coming to the end of a 4 week ban. What did I do wrong? I posted a YouTube link to a New Zealand doctor, Dr Sam Bailey who was discussing pcr testing accuracy regarding covid 19, and I'd previously posted another video titled 10 facts about covid which was pointed out contained incorrect data, fair enough. However, these weren't extreme David icke/Alex Jones type fear mongering links, merely different opinions on data and lockdowns etc, I mean heck, even government advisors get things wrong....anyway I assume I got reported by a member hence the 4 week ban. Its heretical to post anything that's not on the BBC or Sky news it seems, however reasonable you may think it is.

I don't remember the moderation being as strict years ago on there.

Anyway, i'm hoping to be back on there on Thursday when the ban should he lifted, though I must proceed with caution! :D I mainly go on the General discussion board or occasionally in Advice, Radio, plus computer/phone board for queries. I have gone through periods in the past of not logging in for over a year at a time and other times going on there a lot.

Anyway, greetings 🤚
I was a member on and off for 17 years as well but got a perma ban the other day so now I've removed DS from my bookmarks and never plan on visiting again. It's no longer a forum, it's just a place for the woke brigade to shout and scream now. A forum should be a place where people can discuss and debate different subjects but DS is no longer that.

I think as DS is owned by Hearst and is funded by advertisers they can't afford have what is classed as 'different' views in case the advertisers pull out. Your Covid videos may have provided facts but they don't fit in with the governments and UK media's narrative so that's probably why you got a ban.

On the end of every high posting username is usually a very sexually frustrated loser with no job ;)
That's why they spend all their life on the internet and rack up 42,800 posts in 8 years. (That's 14-15 posts a day on that one site alone, every day - no holidays, no social life)
During my short tenure at DS, I struck up friendships with some real long-standing members who had clocked up well over 150,000 posts, but accrued only 300-400 "likes" in their 13+ years with the site. Most of them posting random stuff in the "Chatter" forum all day every day.

I mean, whatever floats your boat, but it does seem all rather futile

I've had run ins with a couple of those you mention, just bully boys/barrack room lawyers and they back off when you stand your ground and don't cower away. I am very surprised how they are allowed to make very personal attacks on other members given personal attacks are a supposed no no over there.
That's exactly what annoys me. If you post any negative opinion about a celeb you get called out for being a 'horrible hate filled person' even if what you posted wasn't really that bad. So it seems to be ok to attack posters but not the celeb in question. Nobody there seems to see any irony in that!

It's a terrible forum, IMO. I used to read it religiously (anyone remember the neighbour pooing in the pond? :ROFLMAO:) but it's just devolved into a haven of ridiculousness. I think a lot of people there are on the spectrum - it would certainly explain a lot about the rigid viewpoints of many posters.

What did Mr Drebin say this time I wonder?
WARNING! Don't contribute to transgender threads unless your comments are 100% 'safe'

Otherwise, you could end up getting banned like these FMs:
Aristaeus
DaisyBill
Frannypoo
Jane Doh!
SeasideLady
wandering-star
Whedonite
WombatDeath
maybe there are more.

Admittedly, I didn't contribute or read all of the recent (now closed) J.K Rowling being Transphobic on Twitter again thread but what I did read wasn't transphobic as far as I'm concerned. It's happened on previous threads discussing transgender issues where I have contributed then I suddenly notice the thread has been trimmed as well as FMs banned and I wonder why or if I've missed something. That's why I've said 100% 'safe' as it seems even the mildest comments are being removed and perhaps result in bans. I put the word 'safe' in quotes as I'm not really sure what that is in the eyes of the moderators. That made me wary of contributing to the above thread in case my comments were deemed not to be 'safe'.

I know free speech is not really a thing on DS but the moderation around this topic seems to be extremely OTT/harsh. I'm not too familiar with all the above FMs but many have been members for a long time I can't remember any of them being particularly bigoted or saying anything worthy of a ban. This thread will get deleted as the moderators' actions are seemingly indisputable but why can't they explain for once the thinking behind this OTT/harsh transgender thread moderation policy? The only time a transgender thread will remain open is if they are echo chambers where only 'safe' comments are allowed.

I never posted much on DS but I just want to say to anyone now on here who may have posted on the old Chawner Family (is Emma Chawner the new Jade Goody?) threads on Showbiz... you are hilarious and brilliant and you got me through a really, really bad time.

Thank you:)
Haha Ditto that! I never posted on there but thread had me in stitches. I miss Audrey and co and their different sausage for every day of the the week!

I was a member of DS for about 4 years. But because of my age (18 when I first joined) I was always slammed by the regulars for "you're only a kid. What do you know. Go back to school and learn something"

but the abuse became even more hostile over the last 18 months when you only had to criticise a celeb and the fanboys/girls would jump all over you and the mods would threaten you with warnings/bans.

I do so hope none of those saddoes end up over here
The Johnny Depp court case thread is appalling. 3 Depp fans basically obsessively repeating that he is an innocent brought down by a manipulative bitch. A couple of people tried to say that they were both as bad as each other but were shouted down.

Yes JD used to be a pretty boy, and Heard does not come over well, but he clearly has a lot of problems that the fangirls just refuse to acknowledge.

Try saying something in favour of the conservatives and you're automatically labelled as Tory scum, gammon loving etc etc

There's a whole world of 'in-between' out there that seems to have bypassed a lot of them.
The politics forum is so hysterically hyperbolic that it makes me dizzy🤣

Is she the same as Moanylisa, who says she’s married to a GP? I know there are two posters with similar names. Moanylisa lisa reported me for saying she had an apt username, and I got a warning for that!
Oh no, that must be a different one. Monalisa is most definitely not married, and is very childlike with obvious mental health problems.
