I'm not surprised by any of those reviews as DS is now a complete cesspit of woke idiots who are incapable of having rational discussion with anyone. I really don't see how it can even be called a forum these days because only one viewpoint is allowed.

I'm almost tempted to log back in and see how long it takes me to be permanently banned

Yes! Thanks to netflix and britbox I'm finding some shows I'd not watched at the time they aired and quite liked them (back to life being one with daisy haggard) so googling them brings up digital spy threads. More often than not after the first page it all turns into one 'lol clique' and the threads don't even make sense, nor are they about the show in question

And then you get posts on there (although probably the same on Twitter, on here, and anything online really) with people asking questions and getting confused and I think “Just WATCH it instead of looking at your phone and posting stupid jokes and maybe you’d have the answer to your very basic question”

He's awful and so is scottie2121 who only ever seems to post to sneer at other forum members. He has never, not once, contributed anything that could bring some positivty to anyone or anything.

I'd pity these people if they weren't so awful to be around.

There used to be a poster years ago who lived in Bradford and had a baby with a Muslim man, she was white and British for context. He treated her appallingly. He continued to have a relationship with her, but his family didn’t even know that she and the baby existed. Im sure he and arranged marriage eventually, and yet she continued to see him, even having a tattoo with his nickname for her. It was fairly obvious that she was just an easy shag/bit on the side for him and he was never going to officially acknowledge her or the baby because his family were really devout Muslims and would never accept it, She would always turn up on the Advice forum asking for advice, and it didn’t matter how many times people pointed all this out to her she could never see it. She would always refer to him as her ‘partner’, but he was obviously anything but that.

I don’t know if she still posts? That baby must be at least ten by now. Maybe even older. I think the posters name was Emma. I often wonder how that turn out.

I remember her - Em was her username I think.

But I remember it slightly differently - she had a child with an Asian guy that she had a one night stand with, who wanted nothing to do with her or the child. Then she got with another Asian guy who she called her partner. One of them went to prison - either the one night shag or partner - and because she was a fucking dick who gave away too many details about the crime, someone managed to find a news report on the case complete with photographs of this really ugly bloke. I always remember someone saying "he's no Brad Pitt is he?"and she had a massive strop about it all

She talked about anal a lot. Having seen her face (I think she had a link to her MySpace account or something at one point on her profile with loads of photos of her and the baby) I can see why the fellas preferred it that way.

Oh God you've just reminded me of the woman whose husband was an alcoholic and cocaine user. She used to post about how awful things were, then she decided she would make a go of it and they had a baby. After this, she would post about how inattentive he was to their child and how she was struggling as a virtual single parent. She had reams of advice but never acted on any of it. Last I heard, she was pregnant with baby no.2. My heart hurts for those children, deliberately brought into a world of chaos.

I remember her too. Funny, I think about that one quite regularly but I can't remember her username. But yes, she was another fucking idiot who would ask for advice then do the complete opposite.

Thing is, if people are being temporarily banned unnecessarily, why would you actually want to return to DS?

I've seen this quite a few times where long-timers get a temp ban then return. I'd personally be telling DS where to stick it.

DS is just a grim place these days. I haven't logged in for some time now because I actually want to see differing opinions and potentially debate things, not just the same opinion on everything and additionally being ignored by cliques.

I believe they basically bullied the autistic poster off the site. She went by the name of mormon girl and later a different name. I find the soap threads horrifically embarrassing. But I do enjoy when they fight with each other over a difference of opinion

I fully agree. I blame the inconsistent moderation in recent years on DS as to why more former posters from there have now moved to here. Not just those who have been banned without any decent rhyme or reason, also those who are starting to realise the whole forum is no longer what they once knew and liked posting on.

I really like the Off Topic section here, people can seem to discuss whatever they like and not get attacked or trolled plus it's not just constant coronavirus threads like in DS.

Moderation on DS is awful, someone can wish harm on somebody but when I say anything bad about 'The woke brigade' and 'cancel culture' I get a level 4 warning.

By 'woke brigade' I didn't mean minorities I meant the whiny woke people that try and cancel and remove anything or anyone that says and does anything that they don't like or try to change something that doesn't need to be changed like Mr.Potato Head (That's the most recent example)

Oh yes, back when EE was utter dogshit - 2004/05, I spent many weekends trolling EE fans, I lead a rich and fulfilling life.

Yeah, they had a thing about a Coronation Street actors ‘not clapping’ when Eastenders won any awards.

There was a poster called ‘Monalisa’ who was/is an obsessive Eastenders troll and borderline stalker of the cast, who was banned for posting threatening remarks about one of the producers when the show was going through a rough patch, it was really serious and the BBC actually got involved. DS pinned a notice at the top of the forum warning people about what they say. Then when the forum revamped last year, there was a ban amnesty and she was allowed back! Total nightmare and very unwell mentally in my opinion. But there you go, ours is not to reason why I suppose.

Well done for sticking up for yourself for so long without losing your temper against that lot. Some of them, and we know who they are are not a full shilling.

I would have liked to but refrained as I didn't want to get banned . Wish I had now as I didn't say or do anything worthy of a ban so at least telling them what I really thought would have been worth it.

I agree that there are definitely a few that aren't all there - the pleasant members seem to have friends, jobs and lives where the most vocal and nasty ones are on the forum all day every day so I think that is fairly telling.

Yep any mention of the Nick Ferrari breakfast show sends them into a tail spin ''gammon, gammon, gammon'' I just think to myself grow up.

One of those delightful characters is another of the report-happy charmers and who I think was responsible for my final demise - he spends all day, every day on DS and his favourite words are gammon or racist.

All the so-called intelligent beings that post in the politics forum seem unable to have a discussion without resorting to calling people that voted Tory or for Brexit, gammons, racists, xenophobes, thick, evil, etc. etc. which does nothing but show them up for the childish individuals with a playground mindset that they are as they puff out their little chests and try and outdo each other with their insults against anyone who has a different opinion to them. Pathetic individuals!

That would explain a lot - I did hear that some of the most prolific posters were in fact mods which would explain why some were getting away with so much.

That makes a lot of sense. Some posters are beyond rude and can hound others relentlessly and get away with it. Others mind their own business, post an opinion and are banned with no explanation.

I also remember a female poster in advice, a woman with a crush on her train driver, wanting to know how to get him to ask her out, because he obviously fancied her - he smiled at her every morning, apparently. The thread went on for pages and pages, with people suggesting she write her phone number on her ticket, or holding up a bit of cardboard with 'dinner tonight?' written on it, or putting an advert in the Metro. She didn't do anything proactive, but she did post a link to some dreadful romantic fiction she'd written. I felt a bit sorry for her. She wasn't savvy about protecting herself online, she revealed the train station and the train time and where she worked - I guess she was hoping the train driver was a DS poster and would recognise himself.

I tried to sign up to DS a few months ago as I like the soaps forums and then all of a sudden I could no longer view any of the forums at all, and obviously my membership hadn’t been approved. I’m guessing they blocked my IP address? No idea what the fuck I did wrong, I hadn’t even had the chance to make any comments or posts

I've no idea why I still bother posting/reading DS, force of habit I suppose. So many cretins and incels; special shout outs to zx50 (who once said if he had a girlfriend/wife and she annoyed him, he would hit her) and Jason (formerly Jason Watkins) who gets his burberry Y fronts in a big old tangle if anyone dares to diss Helen Flanagan or Kelly Brook.

Oh god I think I’ve had a run in with him when I pointed out that Kelly Brook beat up one of her ex boyfriends and then tried to make a joke out of it. Obviously I must just be soooo jealous of her

People like her have really spoiled spending time on line for me in recent years. There are too many of them, although she's one of the most extreme examples.

I'll never forget a post where she described herself as being a "really relaxed" person...I about fell out of my chair.

DS is so extreme now that even people who have always thought of themselves as being basically left-wing, like me, feel utterly alienated there or have been banned.

It's scary.

Never joined DS but used to read it every lunchtime as it one of the few forums that got through the workplace internet filter. Not really tuned into it in recent years, but even way back when, it specialised in thread titles that should have been interesting reads, but thanks to the one-line replies of those labouring under the delusion they were being funny, they rarely were.

It was a bore-fest, largely stocked with the 'witticisms' of Colin Hunt types.

There were a couple of posters called CravenHaven and HarrisonMarks who posted as you described. They ruined every thread they appeared in because of this habit of theirs, especially CravenHaven who was just a crashing bore and never remotely amusing.

These days Doctor_Wibble could fit the description perfectly. I don't think I've ever come across a more boring poster in my life.
