I remember them. They'd always sign off with "God bless you and yours always" along with the name of whoever she was crushing on. Kept going even after people asked her to knock it off. A bit too dedicated, me thinks!Just saw some uber-religious Trump fans on the news and it got me thinking of that very religious American lady who often used to comment on the DS Music/Politics forums. SweetheartHolly I think. She was always banging on about Steve and the Oak Ridge Boys or something like that, and ended every post by blessing him. Is she still around?
Say something like “BLM protests are getting violent and out of hand” and you are banned for ‘downplaying racism’.As former member I still sometimes do a drive-by and lurk at some of those threads, especially in the Politics forum. And OMG its like a piranha feeding frenzy if you even dare post a comment that goes against the consensus!![]()
Be careful what you wish for, some of the more grasping members might end up here! It's become horrifically toxic. I think the mods must be on drugs because there really isn't anything else that explains their logic.
I've not posted there in a few years. Can't even remember my login details. I still rubberneck though to see how low it can go and I think they're just about at rock bottom these days.
Would bring me such joy to wake up one morning and see the whole rotten forum wiped from existence forever.
Welcome aboard the Good Ship Tattle.Hi everyone! I’m also a former DS forum user - often frequenting the broadcasting, Sky and Mobile Phone sub-forums (under the same username) I was an active member since pretty much day one, until about 2 years ago when I dared to have a different opinion in the Politics forum. I’d gone from not having ever being sanctioned to getting a lifetime ban within a few weeks. I’d like to echo that I was an “outsider” as I had opposing views (I support Brexit and hate the Labour Party) and the packs of wolves were out in force, dishing out personal abuse, picking apart everything and rounding up others to “have a go”. Of course, when I retaliated I was banned. I reported the other members for their vitriol but they were allowed to continue unabated.
Not only am I glad to have only found this place today, I’m also glad that I wasn’t alone. I was made out to be the devil-incarnate and was bullied out.
I feel like the forum was infiltrated by Momentum shills as it was around the time of Corbyn's rise to power that it became really terrible for the mods letting certain posters run riot while banning anyone who didn't instantly conform. I feel a Momentum member probably managed to get into the mod team as I think there was an appeal at one point for anyone who wanted a job to apply.Hi everyone! Better to stay clear. Even browsing will make you feel very bewildered at how one-sided and extreme it all is.I have never been on there. It sounds like a nest of vipers.![]()
I have to say, some aspects of Twitter is going the same way. But DS in particular really is the one of the most undemocratic, hypocritical sites out there. They bang about freedom-of-speech, but only when it suits their myopic virtue signalling narrative!Better to stay clear. Agreed. I'd suggest Twitter is actually even worse than Digital Spy.I have to say, some aspects of Twitter is going the same way. I too consider myself liberal in most things, although I'm more of a centrist in reality. Nevertheless, I believe in genuine free speech and open opinion without fear of being "cancelled"Agreed. I'd suggest Twitter is actually even worse than Digital Spy.
I consider myself liberal or at least left-leaning but I find the way big sections of the left have embraced censorship and seem to genuinely believe people having different points of view is a harmful thing so confounding it has kept me up at night sometimes.
Cancel culture is terrifying and horrifying to me.I too consider myself liberal in most things, although I'm more of a centrist in reality. Nevertheless, I believe in genuine free speech and open opinion without fear of being "cancelled"
Unfortunately, it seems we are heading towards the abyss that is cancel culture, and the big social media players seem willing to let things go that way.
Shame about DS. It was a good site, but now its part of the problem
I think Politics is always going to be the biggest elephant in the room across most social media sites. It is so divisive and factious.Twitter is lovely, but it depends whom you associate with. I follow people who love nature, etc, so there are never any conflicts there.
But, follow politics on Twitter and it is a free-for-all in nastiness.![]()
I find it almost impossible to block out politics on Twitter. There is always someone who will retweet something that will get the blood pressure up at some point.Twitter is lovely, but it depends whom you associate with. I follow people who love nature, etc, so there are never any conflicts there.

I’m always muting words on Twitter.I find it almost impossible to block out politics on Twitter. There is always someone who will retweet something that will get the blood pressure up at some point.
The mute words feature is very helpful though!
