DS is my eyes have gone downhill massively. I got really annoyed a few years ago how they stopped comments on their main website pages as I would love to read them. The forum is so heavily moderated that you can't have any fun on it. It was fun while it lasted.
Agreed, I've never forgiven them for removing comments on articles. Though in the end the articles themselves went downhill too. For about four years or so they've been desperately trying to clone Buzzfeed and it's excruciating.

I hope the whole site goes down the toilet eventually. I can't believe what happened to what was once a genuinely interesting tech-based site.

I’m pretty sure the removal of the commenting on articles and the articles themselves changing into Buzzfeed lite happened at the same time, the same time when the site was down and then reappeared with that awful slate grey makeover. I remember people were fuming from all directions. Support was initially answering questions in threads, then started to delete threads about the complaints and redirecting them to their official “questions” thread, and then eventually deleted their own thread due to the overwhelming negative responses they kept getting on it 😶

I've just read a post on AVforums late yesterday saying they'd had over 300 new people register that day!

Has anyone read the DS thread over on Dogs? SierraMist has made her way over there and it's kicked off between her and a few others.

It must be strange though, to loose your little echo chamber and place where you could feel safe bullying others.

I'm a former DS poster who had been on the site for years, but a couple of years ago I had a disagreement with moderation so I decided that I wanted all traces of my presence removed from their forums as much as possible and used the GDPR & 2018 Data Protection Act to ensure it. I sent the following to forum 'at' digitalspy.co.uk...

Dear Sir/Madam,

As I no longer agree with the policies of forums.digitalspy.com concerning its moderation and terms & agreements, I wish to give formal notice that I want my account, which has the username "xxxxxxxx" (without quotes) to be deleted and removed from said website.

Therefore, I hereby withdraw my consent for you to collect, process or store any personal data related to my account here.

I request that you delete any and all personal data related to, and belonging to this account that your company stores, pursuant to my rights under Article 17 GDPR & the Data Protection Act (2018), including any data that may identify me.

This message is being sent both by my registered email account ([email protected]) and also via the personal messaging facility in said account.

Finally, I wish to be notified via email to [email protected] that my request has been complied with.

Thanks.
"xxxxxxxx"
...I got a reply the following day...

Hello,
We have received your request to exercise your right to deletion of your personal data dated xx/xx/xxxx. We are processing your request and expect to respond within 1 calendar month, but we will inform you if, due to the complexity of facilitating the request, we are unable to meet this deadline.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to process this request. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions about the progress of your request.

Kind Regards,
Xxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxx

...and later that day...

Hello,
I am emailing to confirm that your deletion request of xx/xx/xxxx has been fulfilled. We confirm that we have deleted the personal data we held in connection with your name and email address: [email protected]
I trust that this satisfies your request to exercise your rights, but if you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us at this email address.

Kind Regards,
Xxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxx

All my previous posts there were withdrawn as was my user account. Other FM whom had quoted me in their posts did not have their posts edited or deleted, which I guess is fair enough as that would be a nightmare to act upon.

I trust this may be of use to some former posters on there that want to withdraw their presence there as much as possible

She is very unpleasant. Acts all high and mighty and always very condescending towards other posters. Also a bit rich for her to be calling others sad for forums filling their lives. I have never come across a more arrogant poster.

Christ, Dog's a tragic forum - I can see it going the way of DTV.

How people can get obsessed over strangers on the internet I don't know.

I don't actually dislike her, but she is incredibly condescending and has a huge ego. She claims to work full-time while posting in her breaks, but I cannot see how this can be possible, given how much she posts.

Footage of sad, pathetic James2001 as he posts another load of tripe while pawing away the tears:

GD is basically where the right wingers who didn't get banned flounced off to once they lost their echo chamber- it's the same users who dominated discussion in here pre-2017. They lost control of the politics forum so they try to control the narrative there instead- wouldn't be suprised if that has something to do with why that's being closed too, they basically turned it into a politics section by proxy.

Every single covid thread. Endless walls of texts. She used to be HRGuru and was the same on the Brexit threads.
I avoided those subjects so that will be why I don’t know her. They were two topics I just knew would end up being trainwrecks. Those and the seemingly never ending “Does God Exist?” threads.

Tattle is just about right for me although I think it's going to get much bigger in the coming weeks.
I doubt it'll actually affect tattle much, all the people from showbiz moved over ages ago and the politics people won't fit in here. Other places can deal with them 😆

There's been on average 500-600 new members a day sign up on tattle over the last few months. Yesterday was pretty quiet

Good on Victoria Sponge giving Bangla & Sorcha a slap goodbye
Thank you. I’ve resisted the urge for a long time, but now seemed an appropriate (and final) opportunity. Obviously now I don’t care whether the DS mods ban me or not.

Notorious PIG = Victoria Sponge :)
