I have a feeling some form of General Discussion will return but my guess is with Politics shutting they didn't want General to become the new Politics so are waiting a while probably in the hope some of the more oddball of Politics posters forget all about DS.
With better Moderation though it should never have come to this. I still can't believe CRM lasted as long as he did.

When someone like that is allowed to keep breaking the rules while the moderators just delete any offending posts and pretend it never happened, it tells you everything about what sort of people those moderators are.
Wonder how long some will last on AVforums, surely won't be long until the nastiness reappears.

SierraMist was claiming to be on there already but I have my doubts, his style is very distinctive so it wouldn't take long to trigger him and for his ways to come out. He won't last once that happens.
It’s not a massive loss really tbf.
It's sad the way it's so rapidly deteriorated over the past 2/3 years. I joined right at the beginning, in 2004. I think Martin and Chinchin are the only other survivors. The gradual hardening of Global's news programmes made the thread more political but it was still possible to have a rational discussion, a laugh and even a heated argument without accusations of being a racist, Fascist, Nazi etc. Then 'wokeness' arrived and it was used as an excuse to flag up anything that didn't fit certain posters' agenda. For the first time you had to think carefully about everything you said. In the end it became so uncomfortable it was almost a relief to be booted off. My particular crime was racism, for taking p*** out of the EU! Penny Crayon has taken root in the Brexit forum. She used to often get overlooked for her nastiness compared to others but every time I see the name i’m reminded. Seriously she is like a broken record. Johnson is incompetent, Johnson is an embarrassment, Johnson destroyed the country, Johnson ate my puppy wth turnips etc blah blah blah ad nauseum. For the love of god at least switch to track 2 once in a while.
It looks like the Brexit forum on AV s about 90% remainer which will give her a veritable wide on. Not surprising I guess because it takes a certain type of obsessive to still be going over the same arguments on a daily basis four years after the vote and three months after the divorce. Even the Lib Freakin’ Dems are moving on.
Like the Pilgrim Fathers they’re going to recreate their theocratic state on AV, the promised land. Just watch. God bless the native AVericans.

I never went on the DS politics forum as politics and especially Brexit are real light the blue touch paper topics. And while I’m not averse to getting stuck into an argument once in a while I really could not cope with that level of angst on a daily basis. So I gave them a wide berth. As a result I’ve never heard of many the posters mentioned here. They never participated in the GD or Showbiz forums.
If Hearst have any sense whatsoever they'll stay well clear of another Politics thread.
GD may well see more topics added. However, I suspect they will be targeted threads to avoid a mass return to political discussion.
My advice is: If you see anyone turning one of the still existing threads into a quasi politics thread (e.g LBC chat, Jeremy Vine on Five), then report them for doing so.
